I would like to remind every registered memeber of Monsterland Forums to check the strength of their password. It should have absolutely NOTHING to do with any themes of this message board and should be a combination of letters and numbers that only the member could remember.

I have installed a new board theme(skin) called "0000004". It resembles another skin called "Wiredvage" but it included a complete set of matching buttons and markers by the young man who created this theme.

To make room for this new theme I removed one theme(skin).

A message board community called Outline has what I consider to be some of the best looking Zetaboards themes on the internet. I'm going to browse some more of these themes tonight and another theme will be installed shortly.

Our community continues to accrue about 1-2 new member registrations a month and we are well on our way to eclipsing 75,000 posts by the end of 2009.

Hopefully Monsterland Forums can reach 100,000 posts by the end of 2010.

Late edit: I added another theme called "0000004-Emerald", a green variation on the "0000004" theme. Both themes thankfully including their own graphics sets.

I will be, over the next few days, making some changes to the board themes(skins).

The themes that will be retained:

"Byte" (charcoal brown-gray and green)
"0000004(Emerald)" ( dark charcoal-brown and green)
"0000004"(charcoal brown and orange)
"Slate Awe"(a "slate" blue)
"Decode"(a charcoal brown and gold-yellow)
"Lyme"(black and lime green)
"Dark Acid"(dark and medium greens with secondary gold highlights)
'Wiredvage"(dark charcoal brown and orange)
"Zeta original"(no theme-this is the "default" ZB theme)

Themes I'm going to remove:

"Crysis Green"(charcoal and mint green)
"Etavarium"(dark and medium gray)

I will be installing a darker gray theme today and also a variation of the "0000004" themes which uses red instead of green or orange.

I'm also going to try installing graphics that match these themes anywhere I can. Most of these themes come with some sort of graphic "set"(buttons, markers, etc).

I have installed a new link in the navigation bar at the top of the main index page under the board's banners, called "Featured Trailer". It's on the far right side of the bar and is a clickable link. Clicking this link will allow members to view horror or kaiju movie trailers I've posted as embeddable(HTML) streaming videos.

I'll post only one trailer at a time and rotate these trailers out every week to ten days. I'm going to feature trailers of mostly new(er) horror movie releases but I'll throw in the occasional "classic" trailer of an older film as well.

Late edit: I have also installed a link called Fright Theater in the nav(menu) bar under the forum banner. Clicking this link will direct the member to a separate web page with an embedded(HTML) full length feature sci-fi or horror film that can viewed by those with broadband internet access. I'll be rotating out classic "public domain" horror and sci-fi movies once a week.

I've added three(3) more profile fields(as single text lines) for board members:

1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GIANT MONSTER FILM?

2. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HORROR FILM?

3. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SCI-FI FILM?

Members can see(and fill in answers) these profile fields(questions) by accessing the "Preferences" function (top of the main page) and selecting "Update profile" in the drop down menu.

Your answers to these three profile questions will appear under your avatar and title on the main index pages of the board.

Any member with any questions about this please PM me. Thanks.

With the advent of the month of October upon us I will be tinkering with the board to make our site a little more "Halloween" intensive.

To start things off I have installed a new favicon, a tiny image that accompanies bookmarked websites in a person's computer browser. To see this favicon, derived from the 1996 horror film Scream, simply display your bookmarked(favorite) websites in the left side column of your browser: the favicon should correctly display with all major internet browsers and will look like this > " scream1 "

I have also installed a handful of new emoticons, including "Leatherface", the villain from the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" film series, another "Jason Voorhees" emote, a "Scream" film emote and an "evil" pumpkin.

This Saturday(10-3) I will be installing a "Halloween" theme(skin)...possibly two. winky

That favicon thing is cool. I never knew the proper name for those bookmark icons but it's nice to see that as opposed to an internet explorer logo as the bookmark icon. thumbz up

I have installed a new theme called Halloween Holidays, which came with a limited number of graphics(forum markers and buttons). I also substituted some of the smaller icons around the board with more Halloween "friendly" images.

This theme(skin) should display properly in the latest Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers as well as Opera and Google Chrome. Any member with any display issue regarding the "Halloween Holidays" theme PM me and I'll look into it.

I have installed a second "Halloween" based theme(skin), called 10-31, and also some accompanying graphics(buttons and markers), along with a simple, minimally animated text banner. Our community member Xstinct was kind enough to make me a quality banner for the "Halloween Holidays" theme.

This marks the first time that Monsterland Forums has had two decent looking "Halloween" themes.
