Whoops. Sorry Dan for not alerting you to this thread. Neither do I. It's apparently happening though at other message boards...if the posts at ZB support site are an accurate indication. The ZB support site continues to be a hotbed for the posting of complaints about the issues. I have no problem with ZB staffers calling on the carpet those who complain and do so in a disrespectful manner. I do, however, have a problem with ZB staff who constantly try to place the blame for many of these issues on the admins themselves. One constant theme by staffers is "You should have created a test board before the conversion". I did. It's called "Monsterland Archives" and nowhere in my creation of this board was there any problem with the installation of emoticons and a custom skin. This is clearly a problem related to the conversion process...and has nothing to do with me. Edited by packmule, Jun 15 2008, 01:48 PM.

The latest update I have seen posted at the ZB support site regarding the "theme(skin)" issue is that some more specific info on the problem will posted at the support site by sometime this coming week. As to a fix there was no mention of when that will happen. |

I am, at this point, deeply disappointed by the Zetaboards staff. There continues to be an underlying contempt, I believe, directed at complaining ZB admins(like myself) about the lingering technical issues that are plaguing newly converted ZB message boards(like ours). One of the issues, obviously, is the one that prevents an edit of the CSS and Layout in admin cp, which is done when installing a custom theme(skin). Currently, no Zetaboard site that recently converted, and uses server 15, is able to use a custom skin and is forced to display the "default" skin(like I do). I also noticed posts made at the support site that suggest this issue may not even be receiving priority right now to be fixed-considering how many site admins are waiting on this fix I found this revelation galling and, frankly, pathetic. With my own aggravation and total disapproval for ZB staff's handling of the entire conversion process in mind, I am going to start looking into the possibility of using a different web hosting service for Monsterland Forums. I have been told that Zetaboards cannot be converted to another format, e.g. Invision Power(IPB) or vBulletin, two services with outstanding reputations that require payment. I could afford the annual fee for such a service...and would gladly pay it in order to afford myself better customer service. If there is no way to convert ZB to another service Monsterland Forums would have to start over from scratch, as would its members, regarding posts. I'm not sure I would be physically and mentally up for a restart like that but I'm throwing this out there for the members here to read...and comment on if so desired. I'm inclined, at this point, to wait out Brandon, Brian and the rest of the ZB staff's posturing and condescending attitudes, rather than try and go elsewhere. Anyone wanting to comment on this please do so. |

The theme issue has been fixed and I have installed a custom skin for this site. To switch to the custom theme scroll to the bottom left corner of the page: you will see "choose a theme". Choose "Byte" and your page should switch to the "Byte" skin. Anyone having a problem with me may PM me. Some other things that will I be doing over the course of the next few days: -installing a scrolling "welcome" bar under the site banner(like the one we used before)(Tuesday-6/17) -installing a few more alternate themes(skins), which will probably happen this weekend(Saturday-6/21) -soliciting my internet acquaintance who made the KK VsV-Rex banner(above) to make me another banner...with Godzilla featured in it(also on Saturday-6/21) -adding a few more emoticons -changing the buttons. I may decide to leave the buttons associated with posting unchanged. They don't match the theme but do not detract from the overall appearance of the site. -an affiliate link with it's own "page". I'm not going to add an affiliates scrolling bar but rather a link called "affiliates" which will open a new page. Honestly, this isn't a priority right now and may happen in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the kind words, Kimi. I was relieved to find the "Byte" skin because it resembles, somewhat, the "Reclutex" skin we were using, and which seemed more popular, in the Invisionfree format. I decided to add two additional themes(skins) and cranked out quickie banners to match the colors. With the new Zetaboards format, Kimi, it's a lot easier to install separate board themes, and with their respective banners, than with IF, which would required me to install a long coded "skin changer" modification of some kind. There will be a few tweaks this weekend but nothing major. I'll probably add another theme(a lighter skin for those preferring a light(er) background).

Cool Beans.....I thought the overall look and feel of this board was quite nice, so was hoping the issues with the changeover wouldn't last too long. As always, you make these boards a lot of fun to be part of and check out. Nice work.

Thanks Kimi! I try. mildsmile Speaking of updates, we now have a new forum banner, made at my request by Xstinct, the site founder of GFXFactor, a graphics discussion board: http://gfxfactor.com/index

Damn nice banner! Maybe get some done for your other themes? They're several places where you can get pro banners done for free. I'm not trying to say the current other ones are bad, but it would look better. mildsmile |

I agree with you that some of the other themes(skins) need to be upgraded. The King Kong vs V-Rex theme(dark brown & gold) will probably remain with its respective skin called "Black As Night", as obviously will the Millennium Godzilla-Heisei Mothra theme for the "Byte" skin". The ones to be upgraded will be for "Simple Blue"(the light skin), "Red Revolution"(the blood red theme) and "Blue And Black". Over the next few weeks I will try to request custom skins for these three themes. Xstinct, of GFXFactor.com, made the stellar themes for both the "Byte" and "Black As Night" themes. He is supremely talented at graphics. ![]() Incidentally, I have added a small modification(which I also modified slightly) to the main index page: a "DVD News" section which displays under the "Board Stats" section, and will include a few DVD release updates of my choosing. I have yet to decide how to go about listing affiliates. I am not going to use an affilates "scroll" bar again. I'll probably employ an affiliate "page" of some kind. Again, that will probably happen within the next couple of weeks. |

Looks like you're going to be busy. By the way, I have a code for an affiliate box, it involves using the Website Maker in the ACP. It creates a page and your affiliates scrolls to the left. Let me know by PM if you're interested in using it. |
