Technological advances in robotics and android technology never ceases to amaze me. For instance, a female android has been created that may one day be mass marketed as the "perfect woman". And the "market" for this android? The lonely, single fellow. The video below mentions these androids being able to eventually give a massage, offer comforting words and perhaps even perform some light housecleaning duties. As for anything else, well I won't go there. winky

The android has, I admit, been fashioned after a very pretty caucasian female. I could see owning one of these things to help clean around the house. As for other things I would still definitely prefer a real woman. sickko

Makes me wonder what kind of androids they'll be making a hundred years from now. heyo

Creepy. shifty eyes Not sure I'd go for an android women until they develop one with self awareness and freedom of choice. And I don't find this particular model particularly hot anyway.

Not to mention certain, and I might add functioning and realistic anatomical parts indigenous to the female gender. tongue-2

Here's an interesting web page that touches on the phenomena of purported alien abductions: http://www.skepdic.com/aliens.html

Have you heard about what happened in Needles, California on may 14 of 2008 Lee? I had no idea anything interesting had happened there until recently. But apparently there was this big incident involving a downed UFO, Black helicopters, men in black, and a lot of witnesses. UFO Hunters did an episode on it. I'm currently looking into it.

I wasn't aware of this at all. Apparently the government of the U.S. has done a good job of covering it up, assuming it actually happened.

I have no doubt that our government would indeed cover up a UFO crash were it to really happen...and especially if the occupants of said UFO were found alive or at least intact after the crash.

I am not now nor have I ever been in favor of covering up this kind of thing. The public has a right to know. I've seen a lot of reasons thrown about on the internet at various boards as to why our governments would cover up a UFO landing and/or crash: one of the most common reasons I've seen is the expected effect an announcement of this event would have on various religions around the world, as well as the U.S.' desire to keep a lid on such a happening in order to retain exclusivity regarding any potential military benefits derived from the study of the UFO itself and the vessel's technology.

As a former military officer I can see the logic in the "military" angle, though I still don't condone the secrecy. As to the effects on religion I have always personally believed that argument to be lame.

The belief, whether by those of a religious faith or not, that we are the only intelligent life forms in the universe is IMO willful arrogance and ignorance. winky

I would appreciate any more info and updates you can find regarding this incident, Gregg. thumbz up

Yep, I completely agree with you Lee. The public has the right to know. And I will definitely let you know if I learn anything more about it.

Personally, I believe that there is intelligent life out there in the universe besides our own. Whether they have visited Earth or not, I don't know. And in the case of the Needles incident, I'm inclined to believe that it was some sort of government project that they lost control of. The site's close proximity to Area 51 and the fact that the military responded in under 20 minutes make me think that they had to have been tracking it or in control of it at Area 51.

But then again, maybe they had prior knowledge that an alien craft would be crash landing in that specific area.

No doubt anyone who has any passion for nature's mysteries and other unexplained phenomena has heard of the "chupacabra", a Spanish word whose literal translation is "goat sucker". In reality the word refers to any number of bizarre animals, mostly canine like in appearance, that are purported to roam Mexico and parts of Texas. One has been reported to have actually been caught recently in Blanco, Texas. For more info click the link, which includes a video featuring images of the creature's carcass: http://buzz.yahoo.com/buzzlog/92971?fp=1

Here's an update, of sorts, regarding the recent Georgia "Bigfoot" hoax:

Somebody needs to do some damage control and let everyone know that it's just another dog carcass.

As for the Bigfoot hoaxers. I hope that they are disciplined for this. There are few things I despise more than a hoax.

Great white sharks have recently been tagged off the coast of Massachusetts. The appearance of great whites in the Atlantic Ocean has been, according to marine biologists, something of a rarity. Read more: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090906/ap_on_re_us/us_sharks_tagged

Click the link to see some images of some absolutely enormous great white sharks, including one caught off the coast of Taiwan in 1988 that measures an estimated 6.5 meters in length and weighs over 7000 lbs(three and a half tons): http://www.jawshark.com/great_white_recorded_sizes.html

shokked

I believe that somewhere among the deep depths of our planet's oceans there are great white sharks even bigger than the official record holders, measuring twenty five feet in length...and maybe even larger. winky

There used to be a lot of 20-foot-plus Great Whites out there. But the release of Jaws sparked a massacre that destroyed most of them. I love the movie, but it still really bugs me that people could be so uneducated that they let a fictional movie turn an important and amazing animal into a villain.

The galaxy that planet Earth resides in, most commonly referred to as "The Milky Way" is often bombarded by considerably smaller, "dwarf" galaxies. Did a Kentucky man, after setting up hidden cameras to catch images of critters raiding his vegetable garden, capture an image of "Bigfoot"? You be the judge by watching this video, which includes the image: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2009/09/07/donatelli.ky.bigfoot.wave

K, I finally got a chance to look at the photo. It's an interesting one. I'd initially considered the possibility that it might be a bird with its wings flapping frontwards, and I was glad to see that I wasn't the only one who'd thought of that.

Still, this is a tough one to call. It does look like it's at the edge of the garden, which would make it too big to be a bird.

Gregg, take another look at that video if you can. Why? There was a tall wild flower or shrub of some kind that the fellow who took the video used as a reference to the thing's size. He stood next to this shrub briefly: the shrub looked to be about chest high on the guy, roughly five feet. Then the video showed the image of the dark, hairy looking thing: it was noticeably taller, and a great deal wider than that same shrub which it was next to in the image. The thing looked very broad and bigger than the guy who took the video.

Video's don't lie, Gregg unless they've been tampered with or otherwise deliberately altered, something that I don't believe has happened here. There was clearly something sitting there by that shrub at the edge of his garden. Either it was a hoax and it was a friend of the video taker's in some kind of costume...or it was something else, and I don't think it was a bear. winky

Here's the video again, posted at YouTube:

That doesn't look like any bear to me: the arms look too pronounced and too long.

An eight year old female cheetah named "Sarah" recently set a new record for speed among land animals. The predatory cat was clocked twice in two separate 100 meter sprints in 6.19 and 6.16 seconds, respectively. That's over three seconds faster than most of the world's current top male sprinters, including the world's current fastest man, Usain Bolt.

A series of new, prototype mini subs have been designed that are capable of diving to depths of 37,000 feet, which is deeper than any current U.S. Navy sub capability and is also, interestingly enough, an even greater depth than giant squid are thought to dive to. It is possible that someone simply used the "smudge" effect in a photo editor. From what I've heard, apparitions don't typically look like that anyway. But having never seen one myself, it's hard to say.

Cryptomundo readers think that it's a tree sloth that's been in the water for a long time. But I'm still not sure. It's definitely pretty disturbing-looking. I hope they get some DNA analysis done on this thing.
