There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community! MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports. MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here. For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju). -Lee "Packmule" Merritt site founder |

You and me both. Maybe it's the adrenaline of the encounter or something, but this is the way it is with most footage of paranormal phenomena it seems. Another argument, of course, is that the footage is always purposefully shaky to avoid giving people the ability to see that it was faked. |

Japanese scientists are planning to start a project this year aimed at resurrecting the long extinct woolly mammoth, an ancestor of modern day elephants. Woolly mammoths, pachyderms notably larger than present day elephants, existed during Earth's last ice age. Nearly all fossilized and non fossilized remains of these giant creatures have been unearthed in Siberia. Mammoth remains have been preserved for many years in Russia. Recently a team of Japanese scientists obtained usable tissue samples from which they intend to use cloning technology and techniques to birth a baby mammoth. Was reading that last night on Yahoo...not sure it's a good idea...didn't they see the movie Jurassic Park? In all seriousness, it would be kind of cool to see if they could pull it off but the quality of life for that animal would be terrible. I rather them try to bring back an animal that was recently extinct or endanger of being extinct first though. |

Scientists now believe, based on the recent examination of a reconstructed dinosaur skull, that "Triceratops" may have had an earlier ancestor, a similarly sized quadrupedal beast with a large frill, elongated and pointy nose and those trademark horns. Dubbed Titanceratops by scientists, this early ancestor of the Triceratops, which lived about 74 millions years in a region of what is now the southwestern part of the continental United States, predated the Triceratops by around five million years. Read more: http://www.ecnmag.com/News/2011/01/Newly-Discovered-Dinosaur-Likely-Father-of-Triceratops/ The triceratops is a popular dino in cinema. There is a growing consensus among top scientists that the Earth, in their own words, will "not be recognizable" by the year 2050. The world's population now stands at nearly seven billion people and will likely reach nine billion by the year 2050. To be able to feed these additional people humanity would need, based on these studies, to produce as much food in the next forty years as it has in the previous eight thousand years. There is also grave concern that we will use up all of our planets' natural resources. Read more: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20110220/ts_afp/scienceuspopulationfood

This is why I think Earth really needs to start focusing on space exploration and eventual colonization, which would require heavy research into better propulsion systems, suspended animation, and terraforming. In the near future fusion could greatly help us with the energy crisis and give us more time to work with. But the population will continue to increase. And with further advances in medical knowledge and technology, the average lifespan will continue to increase, leading to even more over-population. |

Recently retired U.S. Army Colonel John Alexander again reiterated his belief UFO's are real and also that the U.S. government is NOT part of any cover up about it. Alexander points out, correctly in fact, that former U.S. Presidents Harry Truman, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan have all commented on UFO sightings, none of these former Presidents denying their existence. Hmm. Hadn't heard of precognitive sentient phenomena before. I think this man has coined the term himself. Precognitive denotes an ability to see into the future (I think he only means that they're intelligent enough to predict the future based on logic and reasoning), and sentience basically means consciousness, intelligence and self-awareness. What I'm getting from this is that he means that, whatever is responsible for the UFO phenomena is doing so in order to somehow manipulate mankind. If it knows how we'll react, then it can plan the UFO sightings accordingly. But to what end-game?

In light of the recent, horrific earthquake and subsequent tsunamis in the Tohoku region of Japan scientists in the U.S. have begun reevaluating their own analysis and profiles of earthquake prone areas in the United States, none more so than the Cascadia fault that runs along the sea bottom off the coast of the U.S. Pacific northwest in the Pacific Ocean. Some three hundred years ago an earthquake in this area of the Pacific Ocean, commonly referred to as the "Cascadia Subduction zone", caused a sea bottom displacement that sent enormous tsunamis(tidal waves) outwards, these waves transiting the Pacific and striking both Hawaii and even parts of Japan. The U.S pacific northwest coastline got the worst of it: tsunamis, some over one hundred feet in height, blasted the coastlines, washing inland for miles. The potential devastation from a Cascadia fault earthquake, scientists speculate, could exceed the recent earthquake off the coast of Sendai, Japan...and studies suggest we're not adequately prepared to deal with an earthquake of this magnitude: http://www.wsbtv.com/nationalnews/27330555/detail.html |

How long will it take before it happens? According to one physicist many of these developments will occur within the next fifty years, some within the next hundred years.
