Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

I used to like Michio Kaku, but lately I've been discovering some bothersome things about the man. I like that he appreciates science fiction, but he has a problem with thinking that he's an expert in all fields of science, when he's really only truly knowledgeable about a very specific area of physics. When he pretend to be knowledgable about other subjects, he often makes ridiculous mistakes. I like that he wants to popularize science, but my opinion of him is not as high as it used to be.

A Shelby, NC man claims he has seen Bigfoot. Thomas Byers recently sent a Charlotte(NC) newspaper an email detailing his alleged sighting of the mysterious creature. Byers claims he saw it cross the road and described it as being extremely foul smelling, likening the odor emanating from the creature to that of "road kill and a skunk". Read more: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42240939/ns/technology_and_science-science/?gt1=43001

Here's the five second video shot by Thomas Byers. Listen and you can hear a growl from whatever it is in the video:

Here's the blog page containing more details, including a handful of still photos from the video, footprint images and a short dialog between Byers and his companion about what they saw: http://hubpages.com/hub/Big-Foot-Or-Knobby-Is-Alive-And-Well-In-North-Carolina

Gregg and/or Trent, what's in this video? Is it a real "Bigfoot" or just some guy in a gorilla suit who hasn't bathed in a year? heyo
That's a pretty bad clip...definitely a fake

The World Meteorological Organization is reporting that an "unprecedented" amount of ozone has been lost in the atmosphere over the North Pole and Arctic region in general. This loss may spread to more southern latitudes...but in far less amounts. Why the ozone loss? Click the link to find out: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42429967/ns/world_news-world_environment

Considering what the ozone layer does, that is, screen out harmful ultraviolet radiation from our sun, I find this report fairly disturbing. freak out

Recently declassified FBI memos have created a resurgence in the debate about the existence of UFO's, in particular the alleged landing of a flying saucer in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947 and the government's subsequent confiscation of several humanoid(or insectoid depending on who you believe) alien carcasses from the downed, saucer shaped spacecraft. Guess I should have commented on this one back when I watched it, shortly after it was posted. Can't say I was impressed by it. What's there seems too open to interpretation.

When one uses the word "alcoholism" I would think the vast majority of people would think of a person addicted to alcoholic beverages. This word might also apply to a species of "velvet" monkeys who reside on various islands in the Caribbean and who regularly raid local cantinas to steal the drinks of tourists and locals who are patronizing these establishments. Check out the below video, from a BBC documentary, that delves into the actions, and addictions, of these drunkard monkeys:

Yea I'm going to have to say that's a pretty bad recording of Big Foot. It just seems staged...but that's just me.

Those drinks cost too much money for the monkeys to be stealing like that...they would have to go if it was my drink angree

This past Friday marked the 55th anniversary of the first American, "airborne" dropped hydrogen bomb at the Bikini Atoll in the south Pacific. The bomb's blast created a cloud over four miles wide with temperatures at the center of the detonation comparable to those on the surface of the sun. For more info on this and to see some other photos of nuclear bomb test detonations click the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20110520/tc_yblog_upshot/anniversary-of-bikini-atoll-in-photographs

The largest nuclear weapon ever detonated was the Russian "Tsar bomb", a 57 megaton hydrogen bomb detonated on October 30, 1961 in a small island archipelago in the north Arctic Sea:

Gregg and Trent, check out these various YT video clips posted by Ken Hulsey on his "Monster Island News" blog: http://robojapan.blogspot.com/2011/05/real-or-hoax-youtube-videos-from-other.html

I'd be interested in knowing what you guys think about the video of a homeowner's security cam which shot something moving in and out of the trees and briefly onto their driveway. loco2

I dunno what the heck that could be...first thought was some kind of bear cub though. It's pretty blurry so it's hard to tell...plus I'm not even sure bear cubs can move that on trees...interesting to say the least.

EDIT: After watching some bears/bear cubs climb trees I think I'm going to throw that theory out...clueless as to what that could be

Recent studies on the effects of commercial fishing and climate changes on sea life paint a dire picture for the fate of various species of marine mammals and fish in our planet's oceans, so dire in fact that large scale, even mass extinctions of these species may occur within the next 25-50 years. If this is some kind of hoax or funky man-made optical effects then it's fooled me because the objects look real to me. freak out

Since the Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon searched for the so called "fountain of youth" in the 16th century(in what is now the state of Florida) the pursuit of immortality has been an ongoing, mostly obscure endeavor among medical researchers and scientists. With advances in medicine the average life expectancies of both men and women has increased over the decades. One UK scientist and researcher believes the first person to live to one hundred fifty years of age has already been born...and also believes it possible that within as little as twenty years some people might live a thousand years. Read more: http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110704/lf_nm_life/us_ageing_cure

While I find this article interesting I also find it hard to believe that anyone could live a thousand years. I do think, with time and more advances in medicine, that we'll see considerably more people living to be a hundred years of age and perhaps more living to be one hundred fifteen or even one hundred twenty years of age. In a hundred years maybe someone could live to be one hundred fifty years old...but not in twenty years. winky
