Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Is a mysterious sea creature lurking in the waters off the coast of Alaska? Some think so based on 2009 video footage of a reptilian like, twenty foot long(plus) marine creature. To see the video footage click the link: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/upshot/loch-ness-monster-alasaka-204906638.html
Footage is kind of vague in my book...could be anything...

Probably a coyote or a domestic dog with sarcoptic mange. Here's an article on the recent incident by Benjamin Radford, who I believe effectively solved the entire chupacapbra (or chupacabras, as some prefer the singular to be spelled) mystery already.

If you believe the below article, and I'm not saying I do, then UK laboratory researchers have grown over one hundred fifty human-animal hybrid embryos and have done so for the past three years. loco2

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2017818/Embryos-involving-genes-animals-mixed-humans-produced-secretively-past-years.html

I'd have to see hard evidence before I'd be willing to believe there are human-animal monstrosities running around in some secret lab. Not saying it isn't possible because from what I have read we have the technical ability to do it. The question I would ask is why do it at all? heyo

Yeah, I mean I don't think it's right to just shoot anything that looks unusual. But I think the fault is more with the parents for teaching the kid that that's OK. Charging him with a felony seems like the wrong approach.

Strange. I guess I can imagine how the results of the experiments could be beneficial. But I'd need to know more about what it actually entails before deciding on the morality of it. I'm sure it's a very controlled environment in the very least.

Pack, both...the pyramids, Easter Island and the like are such marvels that haven't/can't be reproduced...you would think modern man could easily recreate such marvels. Plus my gut feelings tells me that aliens have made contact with us or at least our ancestors on some level.

As for the DNA neural network...Skynet will soon be here!

Scientists studying the moon and why one side has far more elevated areas now theorize that the Earth may have had two moons over four billion years ago and that the second, smaller moon slowly crashed into the larger moon(and one circling the Earth now). Filipino hunters and fishermen recently captured an enormous salt water crocodile in a swampy area outside the city of Manila. The crocodile destroyed the first set of traps put in place to capture it. Only after local hunters set up sturdier traps did one finally ensnare the huge reptile. And how big is the croc that was caught? The animal measures 6.4 meters(21 feet) in length and weighs well over a ton(about 2200 lbs). Locals are planning to feature this huge croc as an attraction for a local, and enclosed nature exhibit. Read more: http://news.yahoo.com/giant-crocodile-captured-alive-philippines-134625838.html

Sylvanic Bigfoot Group, a "bigfoot" research group that operates out of Calgary, Alberta(in northwest Canada) claims to have captured images and video, in HD no less, of a family of creatures purported to be "Sasquatch" or "Bigfoot". Thousands of people over the last fifty years, throughout the world, have claimed to have seen these creatures which some scientists have said could be a "missing link" on the evolutionary scale of man.

Skeptics are quick to debunk the existence of these creatures due to lack of hard evidence citing the absence of any carcass of such an animal. To date hundreds of videos(some of them no doubt doctored), allegedly show video footage of these elusive creatures.

The Canadian "bigfoot" research group in the below article claims it will present its evidence sometime in October(next month). Read more: http://robojapan.blogspot.com/2011/09/is-conclusive-proof-of-existence-of.html

As Halloween approaches I thought this article about competitive pumpkin growing might be appropriate, both for this time of year and also because of the theme of this topic in general.

This "sport", if you will, first came to national prominence at the World's Fair events back in the 1800's. The first huge gourd, weighing in at 400 lbs, was one of the first to garner it's owner an award.

Now pumpkins are routinely grown tipping the scales at over 1500 lbs. In 2010 Chris Stevens grew a gourd that weighed an astonishing 1810 lbs and was recognized by the Guiness Book Of World Records as being the largest gourd on Earth. This year the record is expected to be broken with pumpkins exceeding a full ton in weight. A Massachusetts scientist and researcher has presented his findings and theory of the existence of a colossal, 30 meter(100 feet) long marine cephalopod that preyed on 14 meter(45 foot long) icthyosaurs, a species of giant carnivorous fish, two hundred million years ago during the Triassic Age of dinosaurs. The evidence for the existence of such a gigantic arthropod, which may have closely resembled a cuttlefish or octopus, lies in the fossilized remains of icthyosaurs, many of which are found at several locations in Nevada. These fossils bear marks resembling the suckers on the tentacles of an octopus.

The largest creatures like this that exist today are the giant Pacific octopus, which can attain a tentacle width of over twenty feet and the legendary giant squid which can reach lengths of eighty feet(including its two long "whip" tentacles). The local government of the Siberian town of Kemerovo has recently declared that the "yeti" exists and claims that not only to these creatures dwell in Siberia but that they also have proof in the form of hair samples from the alleged creatures. Kemerovo officials also claimed to have discovered caves where yeti live. Siberia is located in northern Russia and is famous for both its rugged, tough to traverse terrain as well as being one of the coldest places on Earth during the winter in this region, where fahrenheit temperatures can reach one hundred degrees below zero.
