Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

A British geneticist claims he has proof that the "Yeti", a sasquatch like creature alleged to exist in the Himalayas, exists and is a genetic remnant of either a polar bear or brown bear:

Footage of purported aliens hovering over the Sea Of Marmara in Turkey back in 2007 has hit the web. According to the article this footage was repeatedly analyzed by both Turkish government officials and photograph experts and considered authentic and NOT fake. Self proclaimed "bigfoot hunter" and shootist Rick Dyer claims he shot and killed a sasquatch in September, 2012 in California and recently told CNN and other major media outlets the creature he killed is the real thing. Dyer told reporters he has the carcass of the alleged sasquatch in his possesion and has thus far allowed over a hundred people to see it. To date no news outlet has been allowed by Dyer to take their own DNA samples of the kill, presumably to conduct their own independent analysis of the DNA samples.

Rick Dyer, a resident of Texas, has said he intends to go on a cross country tour throughout the U.S. to display the alleged bigfoot carcass to others...and will charge a fee for anyone wanting a close up look at the dead creature. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/science/2014/01/06/bigfoot-hunter-claims-to-have-killed-beast-has-proof/

The image below has been provided to CNN, Fox and other media outlets by Rick Dyer.

Thirty four year old North Carolina resident Jett Webb, also an avid hunter, recently shot and killed a wild boar weighing over five hundred pounds. Webb, on the hunt on privately owned hunting club property in eastern North Carolina, used a .308 caliber AR-15 to bring down the enormous, feral swine back on February 28th. Webb said he plans to use the meat from the animal to feed his family: Ham handed: North Carolina hunter shoots and kills 500 lb boar

It is now generally accepted that a six mile wide asteroid that slammed into the Earth near the Yucatan Peninsula 65 million years ago effectively caused climactic changes to the Earth which resulted in the extinction of the dinosaurs. The impact crater from this event, measuring over ninety miles in diameter, is located on the seafloor off the coast of Mexico(the "Chicxulub" crater). Besides generating huge tsunamis(tidal waves), this impact blasted millions of cubic feet of dust and other ejecta into Earth's atmosphere. The debris spread across the planet and essentially blocked out the sun for years, killing plant life and subsequently the dinosaurs.

Scientists now have concluded that an even bigger asteroid impact occurred 3.26 billion years ago. A twenty three(23) mile wide asteroid slammed into an area somewhere in what is now the Pacific Ocean at an estimated speed of 44,000 MPH(20 km per second). The impact's effects were, needless to say, cataclysmic: tsunamis racing outward from the impact would have reached landmasses with run up heights of a thousand feet and higher, thousands of square miles of seawater boiled away by the initial heat blast and shock waves from the impact would have circled the planet several times with the force equivalent to a 10.8 magnitude earthquake. A magnitude 10 earthquake, to clarify, has roughly a thousand times the energy output of a magnitude 9.0 earthquake. To date the most powerful earthquakes in recorded history barely exceed magnitude 9.0. - loco2

It's thought that this colossal impact several billions years ago also "shook" the Earth, that is our planet's axis was temporarily changed.

Ever wondered what outer space sounds like? There is no sound in space, technically speaking...but there are many things that occur in deep space that have been transformed into sound by various instruments aboard NASA satelllites and deep space probes which have been deployed throughout the decades(since 1958) with audio recording sensors.

To listen to a "black hole" and other space sounds click the link: http://www.cnet.com/news/the-spooky-sounds-of-space/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+cnet%2FNnTv+%28CNET+River+RSS%29#ftag=CADf328eec

These stories are pretty interesting. It is amazing how much we don't know about our own planet. For example; we keep finding ancient sites buried around the planet and we don't know very much about what lies beneath the sea.
