Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

People have been claiming, for decades, to have had an "out of body experience", in which they see their own body as they hover near death. Now scientists claim to have succeeded at artificially creating the same sensation, and without the ingestion of any drugs. Read more: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070823/ts_al...ienceparanormal

I have seen this article all over the place (my cell phone included), very interesting stuff to say the least. I can't wait to see what this thing really is...is it the strange blood sucking beast? Or is it a rare type of dog/wolf? Only time will tell...

Or is it a rare type of dog/wolf?

Some scientists believe it may be a hybrid of some kind, perhaps a mix of dog, pig and wolf, in any(or all) combination of these three animals. I'm inclined to agree that it's something that is not a species unto itself...at least I hope not. freak out

There may come a day when, as a consumer in the market for a new car, you might find one that can fly available for sale in the dealership lot where you're browsing for that new ride. A company called Moller International is planning on mass producing the M200G Volantor, a flying car. Read on: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/story?id=3398892&page=1

...well, this would be one way of beating the traffic plagued commute to work, by just flying over traffic. tongue-1

Ever wondered what caused the extinction of dinosaurs? I have followed this topic for many years. I began reading about it in college. It is generally accepted by most scientists now that a six mile wide asteroid slammed into an area in close proximity to Mexico's Yucatan peninsula(in the Gulf Of Mexico) millions of years ago-the mass of this space rock would have been 20-30 billion tons. Entering the Earth's atmosphere at several thousand miles per hour, this gigantic asteroid impacted the Gulf Of Mexico with the energy equivalent of perhaps 10,000 hydrogen bombs, waves several hundred feet high radiating outwards in all directions, eventually making landfall along the various land masses and reaching run up heights of over 1000 feet. The impact also resulted in climactic shifts on our planet, which ultimately spelled the end for dinosaurs. Many scientists speculate that had this impact event not happened many species of dinosaurs would still be in existence today. Read more: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070905/sc_nm/...id_dinosaurs_dc

Astronomical observatories have long played an important role in scientists' study of our solar system and beyond. Unfortunately, one, the Arecicibo Observatory, a 1000 foot wide parabolic dish located in the jungles of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, is in danger of closing. The debate over the existence of "Bigfoot" has been recently energized by a series of photographs taken by a Pennsylvania man who rigged an automated camera to several trees to take pictures of deer. Click this link to see the photo-you'll have to click on the photo to see an enlarged version of it. There's another link to watch the corresponding news video as well. Bigfoot researchers claim the photo, which shows something hairy and walking on four legs, is an adolescent "Bigfoot", while Pennsylvania authorities(with the Wildlife Service) believe it to be nothing more than a bear with severe mange. Decide for yourself: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071028/ap_on_...d_bigfoot_in_pa

Whatever it is, it looks strange. freak out

It is widely believed by most astronomers and other scientists that life, perhaps even intelligent life, not only can exist but does exist elsewhere in our universe. This article is an excellent example of why I believe there is life, intelligent life, "out there": http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/archive/200.../06/451256.aspx

The alleged existence of the Yeti, or "abominable snowman" of the Himalayas, is being debated anew after it was revealed that an American expeditionary team, in the Khumbu region of Nepal near Mount Everest, came upon some unusual looking footprints at an elevation of nine thousand(9000) feet. The expedition represents a group called "Destination Truth". Time for an update of this topic thread:

-an environmental scientist in the UK has published a report on the likelihood of intelligent alien life on other, presumably Earth-like planets. The link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24051247/

-scientists are studying the chemical composition of seawater in an effort to better understand the various asteroid ocean impacts throughout Earth's history. Included is the seawater around the deep, 100 mile wide Chicxulub crater, located partially beneath the Gulf Of Mexico and Mexico's Yucatan peninsula. Some 64 million years ago, or thereabouts, an asteroid believed to be 2.5-3.5 miles in diameter, and weighing billions of tons, slammed into the area of water now known as the Gulf Of Mexico, at perhaps 10,000 MPH. The impact energy of this event, equal to thousands of atomic bombs, caused mega tsunamis(giant tidal waves) 900 feet high(or taller), triggered more seismic activity throughout the planet(earthquakes and volcanic eruptions) and what is thought to be a global change in the Earth's climate which facilitated the extinction of the dinosaurs. The link: http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/0804...ater-clues.html

What would, the human race, "say" to an alien civilization that has made contact with us? Read this article to find out the possibilities: http://www.space.com/searchforlife/080410-...-ourselves.html

A frequent recurring theme among many science fiction films that depict space travel has been those traveling in space in stasis, or a state of suspended animation. Another term being used these days is "hibernation", and the idea of putting astronauts into a kind of biological "sleep" for extended space voyages may be closer to reality than many realize. Is the belief in UFOs, aliens, physic powers, etc, growing because the belief in religion is dying?

I can only speak for myself here: my belief in religion has been, for the longest, uncertain. My belief in the existence of God seems to falter more with each passing year. That said I do not believe, to any more degree in, aliens, UFO's or psychic powers.

I believe it possible UFO's are visits to this planet from intelligent life elsewhere in the galaxy...but I'll need some kind of hard proof before fully acknowledging that UFOs are indeed this.

I have always been very skeptical of those claiming to have psychic powers. I still am.

The only evidence of extraterrestrial life being intelligent is that they haven't visited US.

That said, in my experience religious people seem to believe in things such as these more frequently than Atheists do.

It is definitely not growing though. At least not much in Europe. The average American seems to agree or believe things much easier than Europeans do... not saying there aren't exceptions here. In Sweden, the channel TV4 has numerous shows dedicated to talking to ghosts, tracing spirits etc.

Yes I beleive in myself.

Mr Green

That is an unusual thing to happen Ghost, no doubt about it. I would talk about my own encounters with ghosts, but I cannot because I have never had any incidents like this. I have known a few people who claimed to have seen some unusual things though. Example: though no longer a hobby for me I used to do quite a bit of trout fishing while I was in high school, college, and then up until about 1990. On one such trip, along the Chatooga River near Rome, Ga(about 70 miles north of Atlanta), a member of our group came hauling ass back to our camp claiming to have seen an "ape-thing". He also referred to it as an "ape-looking monster". He was not drunk, and his hysterics were genuine. Me and the other guys blew it off as bullsh*t, until that same night, when we heard some noises coming from the nearby woods. Let me tell you I am familiar with just about every noise an animal living in these woods could make, large and small. The sounds we heard sounded almost like a wolf howling. Almost. They also had a distinctly pig-like quality to them. We all became creeped out by the "howling" we heard. Later, after one in the group claimed to have heard rustling in a woodline about 50 feet away, we all packed up, got in our vehicles, and got the hell out of there. I never saw anything, but I do remember those sounds I heard. I wonder, even now, what made them. shocked smiley
Just browsing through these old threads. Awesome story. I've been interested in cryptozoology as long as I can remember, and I've always wanted to see a Sasquatch or something similar. It's probably a good thing I wasn't there, because nothing would stop me from running into the woods to look for it.

As for ghosts, I was raised Adventist. So I was always taught that ghosts were just Satan's evil angels, or demons as you might call them. Nowadays I take the more scientific approach. I've never personally witnessed anything paranormal, so I remain skeptical. I certainly love reading ghost stories still. It's fascinating to wonder if they could exist. So I voted "not sure." I'm awaiting good evidence. I'd like to believe that there is a God, but I'm not sure about that at the moment either.

Never seen this Thread before...but interesting topic. Before I was always on the fence about whether ghosts exist or not, I never seen a ghost/spirit do anything but I always felt a "presence" in certain parts of my grandparents' old house.

But my belief changed to actually believing in ghosts/spirits when I was with my little cousin (age 2 going on 3 at the time) in the living room and he told me he seen our grandfather watching us with another man (note: my grandfather passed away in 2006 and this particular incident happened in the spring of 2007). Now I couldn't see anything in the direction he was pointing me too but someone or something had to be there because my little cousin was definitely waving goodbye to someone or something.

Thanks Pack...as for the "presence" I wouldn't describe it as a breeze or cold air...more like an aura I guess is the best way to describe it. It's kind of hard to explain...but it felt like another person was in the room but there wasn't and I could definitely feel when it would leave or come.

I have felt similarly. About once a month I get the impression that there is someone, or something, watching me, and when I'm inside my residence.

I'm not a person who scares easy. I never have been but this sensation I get from time to time is unsettling, especially because it's something I definitely feel, but cannot understand why. shreek

i believe very strongly in ghosts, but not at all in a supernatural sense. Rather as a science we have yet to understand.

P.S. I have had one possible ghost encounter, but I might have just been tired. I woke up one morning (I was like ten) and a just saw a freakin' face staring right down at me. It scared the living hell out of me, I jumped up, and ran out of the room. You would too if you saw a pale, white freakin' head staring at you from about 6 inches above your face.
