Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

I enjoy many kinds of food groink! and I often try something different, i.e. a dish traditionally popular in another country. What is your favorite "ethnic" food, i.e. cuisine that is not indigenous to your country of residence?

Poll(and thread starter)-Packmule's: Chinese cuisine. Just about anything on the menu except things that are severely spicy.

Cast your vote and explain your selection. Feel free to elaborate about your choice as much as you want. Talk about other cuisines you like as well. All replies welcome. :)

As noted before, I live in a very rural area and so Chinese restaurants aren't something we've had in these parts for long. We now have two buffets in one town about 30 minutes away and two in another town the opposite direction which is about 30 minutes away, as well. I know they tell me that Chinese Buffets don't really offer 'genuine' Chinese cuisine, but for my money, it's damn tasty. :)

If I had to make another choice, it would definitely be, Italian.

Indeed. The staff at The Pagoda, a very small(but popular) Chinese restaurant about a half-block from my residence, is a place where I order "take-out" frequently. I am always offered a free iced tea while I am seated in their "waiting area" for takeout orders. Their service is also very good. About two months ago I ordered more than I usually do(to last me the weekend)-it was a delivery order to my apartment. After the initial delivery was made, there was another knock at my door 30 minutes later. The restaurant asst. mgr. had forgotten one of my beverages and made a second trip to my apt. to make sure I got it. Is it me or is service in Chinese and other Oriental restaurants always stellar? eyebrow

Now, that's some mighty fine service! thumbs up We live so far out in the sticks, there's no such thing as home delivery, here, but it would be nice. I know the one Chinese buffet we go to on a ergular basis has a very friendly staff and they have seen us enough to know what drinks we order, now, which is nice. Mr Green

Mine would be Mexican. There is an excellent chain of Mexican restaurants here in Atlanta, GA called Willys. Packmule's favorite cuisine at "Willys Mexican Grille":
chicken quesadillas
burritos
chili relenos
Mexican pizza
... groink!

I like Mexican. Although I don't really eat the traditional food, I usually enjoy american style food at Tacobell, I rarely eat there though.

Corey, you and your parents should see if there is a Willys Mexican Grille in your area. If not a Taco Mac. Both are excellent venues for really good Mexican cuisine! groink!

They are restaurants that serve real Mexican cuisine. I like Taco Bell okay. Ironically, the majority of hispanic workers in my industry(landscaping) do nor speak highly of Taco Bell-many of them think of Taco Bell as "imitation" Mexican food, hence their contempt for it. eyebrow

Topic: I usually try to keep my consumption of Chinese food to twice a month(every other week). To eat more of it would=having to purchase more Pepto Bismol from the local pharmacy. shifty eyes

Fun, something that I think too many boards have left in the dust, for many reasons. To me sites like these, and certainly Monsterland Forums, are supposed to be fun. Will this site always be fun? Realistically, probably not, but I think it can be most of the time. jumping smiley

Definitely, the "Spam" thread will make the site fun even if you're not exactly a fan of Kaiju, I used to go to my friend's site quite a lot because at one point nobody cared about Spam, we all simply had a good time, eventually my friend got really serious about it and by the end he couldn't even take a joke; after he kicked out my best friend "Simunescu" from the site I decided to leave because all of a sudden the forum became pretty much deserted, nobody went online anymore, even though there's about 60 registered users there's only about 2 new posts every week. Here's a link to the site, I was known as "Ultraman":

http://www.cyberhog.co.uk/newdawnforum/

If you take a look at "Simunescu"'s posts you might notice why the forum is so boring without him. Actually Packmule, if you DO put a Spam thread on this site I might tell Simunescu about it, I'm sure he'd be glad to join.

Done. I edited the "Life's Hassles" thread and amended it to include SPAM. As I mentioned before, I personally believe every discussion site needs a thread where members can vent, spam, just comm with other members without the restriction of having to keep to a certain topic. In saying this I would add that while I would, and will, support a spam thread, I would not want to see lots of profanity(a little might be okay). Kidding and joking are okay-flaming and attacks would not be okay. I hope you will invite your friend. He, like anyone else you invite, would be most welcome here. Mr Green

Topic(lest I forget): have you ever eaten "soul" food? Example: country ham, collard greens, cornbread(w/butter), and cabbage...I personally enjoy this food very much... Mr. Piggy

No, I don't believe I have, it's probably not very common here in England. In fact, there isn't much variety in meals here, just canned food and takeaways really.

I see. While watching a movie called Formula 51 a guy mentions that fish and chips(fish and fries) are the national "dish" of England. Is this an accurate statement or a load of bull? eyebrow
