Cole slaw, that's kind of interesting on a dog....I love my GB's cole slaw, so next time she makes some, I'm going to grab a 'dog' and pile some on it. groink!

I also thought the consumption of cole slaw on a hot dog was also a bit wonky until I tried it: no longer. groink!

I have been eating bratwurst here and there lately. You like bratwurst, Kimi?

I think I've only had it a time or two and I thought it was OK....I know, I have a strange way of describing things, but I don't like some brats or sausages, when I bite into them and there are 'ookie' things in them. cheeky sick smiley

freak out I've never noticed anything unusual in the bratwurst I've been buying at Publix. That said I'll probably hold off on buying any more of this particular kind of meat for a while. tongue-1

One thing to add: If you haven't tried it yet, use the little recipes on the sides of the bottles for wing sauce. All you really do is melt butter and add pepper sauce to it, and it is RICH.
I'll try and make something like this the next time I buy a new bottle of hot sauce. I also like to add hot sauce to tacos and Mexican pizza when I eat at Taco Bell. thumbs up

I know some of the 'ookies' I bite into are the spices sometimes used in sausages....isn't fennel one such spice and that gags me. cheeky sick smiley Carol always tells me it's fat or something and that gags me. I'm odd, though, I absolutely love chicken and biscuits, BUT, if I bite into some and there's a small piece of bone, I'm done right then and there...no more for me.

I will occasionally drink 1% chocolate milk, but shouldn't have it, really. I'm not a milk fan at all, Mom said when she took me off the bottle at 9 months or so, I basically stopped drinking milk at all. I like it on my cereal and occasionally, if I have something sweet, I will drink a small glass of ice cold milk, but that's rare.

Mr Pibb, is that anything like Dr Pepper? Those are 'cream' sodas, aren' they? I never got into those at all. Orange, root beer and diet Pepsi are about all I'll drink, soda-wise.

My youngest brother is a HUGE fan of anything hot and spicy. Any time we go to Florida, we bring him back some new kind of hot sauce or if I'm out and see something, I think he'll like, I grab it. He was telling me a week ago, a couple friends from work stopped in and one of the guys was checking out Skeet's hot sauce supply and he has over 20 bottles of various sauces, now. I think a couple of years ago, I picked him up a bottle called, simply enough, Pain. Skeet said it's very hot and his wife wanted to surprise him and mix some in with the ground beef she was making burgers with. Instead of using a teaspoon or tablespoon, she used a quarter-cup.....Skeet said he loved it, but his wife couldn't even bite the burgers.

I like the heat from some peppers, but not used to the point that you get nothing but the heat and no flavor. I don't like biting into peppers, just give me the taste of the heat, not the actual pepper.

One day I'd like to have a large collection of hot sauces. Oh well, I can deal with five at a time for now, as that's all my mother's allowing me.

Well, five is a good start and makes for a nice rotation in using different sauces. Do you actually cook with these sauces or use them more to spice up a dish?

Last night, since we were out running some errands, after Carol's shift ended, we stopped and ordered some Chinese for dinner and brought that home. I got boneless ribs and General Tso's shrimp. Gads, I love that stuff! groink! Carol got the General Tso's shrimp and fried rice. Occasionally, we will share some sweet/sour chicken and pork lo mein, but didn't get any of that, last night. I have lots of leftovers, so looking forward to lunch, already. Mr Green

Uhm... Plain and from a teaspoon?

Are you the only fan of heat/spice in your house? As mentioned, I like the heat or spice, but I'm really the only one in the apartment to enjoy that. I think my youngest brother, Skeet, is kind of on his own with the heat cranked up in foods, too.

Last year, a couple weeks before Christmas, I went to their place to see my baby niece and Skeet made burgers for us all.....he used some very spicy heat sauce for his and mine and much less for his MIL and wife. Unfortunately, his MIL got hold of one of the very spicy burgers and couldn't eat it, then they were all mixed up, so when she tried another....the same thing, she gave up. Mr Green

Mr. Pibb is a "dark" cola like Dr. Pepper. These two beverages taste similarly, IMO. If you like regular or diet Dr. Pepper you would probably like Mr. Pibb. :)

Carol's youngest brother, John and I both love the boneless ribs. A few years ago, while visiting them in Florida, we went to a huge Chinese buffet and John and I both zeroed in on the boneless ribs.....big disappointment. Instead of the sauce we were used to, he at his local buffet and me at mine, here in PA, the sauce used for these had an almost 'perfume' taste to them. freak out Very gross.

Last night, Carol came home from work and manned the grill. I'd marinated a steak in the fridge on Saturday and Carol also tossed some hot Italian sausages and hot dogs on the grill and I did corn on the cob and a pasta dish, inside. The steak was absolutely delicious. groink! Tender, moist and very good. Carol tried a bite of hot Italian sausage, but it was a wee bit too spicy for her and I didn't eat any of the suasage or dogs, so they can be had for lunch, today.

I'm curious, Kimi: does Heiney Butt ever get any leftovers from you and your roommates' feasts?

Heiney Butt is one of the more unusual four-legged creatures, I know. He rarely will partake of any table food. Now, if you happen to eat, say, corn on the cob or popcorn and you have salt and butter on your fingers....he goes mad and licks until you think he's going to hit bone. If I have a ham and cheese sandwich, I will tear small piece of the ham off for him and he likes that, but most of the time, HB sniffs at what we offer and walks away. tongue-1

Now that sounds more like what a typical cat would do. My cat, The Hammer, seems interested in leftovers only when it's fish or something including fish. He has only a marginal interest in chicken and zero interest in red meat.

I must admit to being rather ignorant, when it comes to felines and their habits. My Aunt/Uncle owned a couple, but they were of the indoor/outdoor variety and never begged at the table. Granddad's cat, Tom E Littlefeller would actually get up on the table and eat off your plate, if you'd let him and so I am trapped somewhere in the middle in thinking cats kind of like table scraps, but guess not too much! It usually doesn't do much to have other family members eating your hot foods. It seems like Skeet's mother-in-law acted out of her own free will on this, and I've had that happen with my family members and friends. With the family members, my brothers ended up loving them and my mother hating them. With the friends, they hated them too. My brothers' friends have more open tastes, though.

It was a little funny watching his MIL trying to find a burger she could actually eat. Probably if she wasn't such a rip, I'd have felt sorry for her, but I don't care for her and she's not even my MIL!

If I don't have to actually bite into a pepper, I;m pretty willing to try most hot things or most foods for that matter, when I was very young, my Grandma and Granddad used to put out a very exotic spread on Christmas Day, all sorts of 'odd' edibles along with the usual fare. I was kind of raised in the vein to try it, at least, before saying I didn't like something, so I'm probably more willing to try something....within reason. ;)

very funny

I've never seen a cat leap up onto a dinner table, though obviously there are cats out there that do this. I'm inclined to think their owners would not be enamored with seeing their cats on the dinner table. My glass dinette's chair is often a frequent spot for The Hammer to take his naps, though he seldom seems interested in climbing onto the table itself. He does like to crawl over various recliners I've had over the years. I say "various" because I've had to replace two that he shredded, over time, stretching his claws. <_<

Lately my most frequent "comfort food" has been Chef Boyardee spaghetti & meatballs out of can. As to beverages I've been drinking Dasani bottled "lemon flavored" water like there's no tomorrow. tongue-1

My Grandma was in a skilled nursing unit the last two or three years of her life and Granddad visited her, faithfully, every day. I do think he became quite lonely at home and thus he began allowing Tom E Littlefeller to jump on the harvest/kitchen table. My Dad freaked out the first time he saw that after Grandma passed away and told Granddad that if anyone saw him allowing the cat to eat off his plate, he'd probably be put away. I think that was part of the reason Dad moved in with Granddad.

Heiney Butt loves to find a nice sun-spot and lounge in that. He also curls up on the kitchen chair, on or on top of the recliner and he has a place at the end of the sofa, where I have a wooden storage box that Granddad made, I have two huge pillows on the top of that and HB has claimed that as his sleeping area, as well. I had to laugh, Lee, when you mentioned the need to replace furniture pieces, as HB has also made that necessary for us. We aren't going to replace it, as we will be moving, soon, but now I have to find someone willing to haul the stuff away. faster <!--emo&shifty eyes-->Posted Image<!--endemo-->
