Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Also, what was your final count?

I can't give an approximate number because I was a) very drunk and  it was about 22 years ago(  ). If I recall after about fifteen minutes I had consumed around 18 or 19. The winner of this contest, if I remember right, had eaten around 30.

Wow! 19 seems like a good number to me, but 30!? cheeky sick smiley Don't think I could eat anything like that and still be able to eat the product, years later. I have watched that hot dog eating contest that Nathan's puts on and the Japanese kid that has eaten 50+! cheeky sick smiley Impressive, but revolting at the same time!

I have watched this diminutive Japanese lad as well-I am surprised that he can down so many hot dogs, as opposed to his main rival, a gargantuan black fellow who is usually right beside him, stuffing his face with hot dogs in these gluttonous contests... tongue-1
Apparently, the Japanese kid has got some technique to it...or perhaps it's just all in the wrist. tongue-1

That's the kid! He's amazing to watch! They actually say that smaller sized people can do better at these contests, because their stomachs can expand so much, whereas the larger sized folks can only expand so far. One food eating contest I wouldn't mind entering would be....

-Shrimp....I just love shrimp.

-Lobster would be pretty yummy, too!

I've heard similar, though it's still hard to believe that this skinny Japanese lad can consume so many hot dogs in such a short period of time. His record is 53 hot dogs in 12 minutes-that's nearly 4 and a half per minute, or one every 15 seconds. He also drinks water as he eats them, no doubt the fluid aiding in his eating so many so fast. He never appears sick either after these contests. eh?

I can't imagine how very sore their throats must be after wolfing down huge amounts of food like that. freak out I'd think the water must aid in helping the throat not get too sore.

I enjoy both shrimp and lobster-I can eat shrimp boiled, and with butter sauce-of course fried shrimp("butterfly" shrimp) is also very good. As for lobster, I like it also with butter sauce. groink!

On the subject of seafood, Kimi, I also enjoy scallops, crab, and oysters, especially oysters on "the half shell". groink!

I've never eaten, calimari....how does that taste? How was it prepared? I had some shark steaks at my grandparent's house and that was good. Never had swordfish and mackerel. I liked flounder. I attended an outdoor concert with Carol and one of her brothers' in florida about 8-9 years ago and Carol's brother got a gumbo that included crawfish, I thought that was mighty tasty, too!

At the time I ate it it was fried. It's taste reminded me of fish, mostly. I also believe calamari is served baked and/or grilled as well. eyebrow

I'd give it a try, fried.....for some reason, some exotic stuff often tastes better when it's fried or at least I;ll try a wee bit that way and if I can take it, try it made other ways, later.

When dining at Red Lobster I usually order, regarding seafood:

Seafood platter, a combination of shrimp, scallops, and deviled crab

or

Alaskan King Crab legs-usually an "all you can eat" special

or

Steak and lobster-a medium to well done steak, lobster tail, baked potato, and salad

No, I haven't tried a Tab in years......I wasn't even aware they still produced this soda until a year or two ago, when I saw it on a store shelf. When I was 9, my parents purchased a small, general store....it was a tiny little place and we had a couple of gas pumps, a small line of groceries (bread, milk, ice screan, canned goods, etc.), candy counters, etc. There was this ancient soda cooler......you actually filled it with ice, I think and then the ice would slowly melt and the ice water was what kept the sode cold. We had this older gentleman that came in, every day with his son and he'd sit on the bench and drink Tab. My Dad got so he'd drink it and one day, I tried it...... cheeky sick smiley Perhaps it was because I was a kid and needed the sugar to make it bearable, but I've never tried it, since! I'll have to see if I can buy just one can and give it a try, again. My diet soda likes include:

A&W Root Beer
Sunkist Orange (There's another diet orange soda, but can't think of it)
Sprite Zero

I'd dare say, if anyone has any extra money to play with....buy stock in Pepsi, because the way I drink diet Pepsi, you'll be rolling in money! ;) :<!--emo&lol:-->Posted Image<!--endemo-->

Indeed, it took me awhile to get used to drinking diet soda. Speaking of beverages, have you ever drank any "energy" drinks? I tried a few-they didn't give me, as far as I could tell, any extra energy. freak out

I never really have, that I know of. Sometimes, drinking beverages that are supposed to give you that boost, did nothing but give me a horrid headache. dead

I have heard of Goody's, but never tried it.

Goodys, BC, and Stanback are the three major brands of these powders, which are made for the relief of headaches, minor arthritis pain, even for toothaches. Their primary active ingredient is acetaminophen, with a smaller amount of caffeine included. There is also a Goodys variant(in a different colored package) that is for general body pain(arthritis or body aches from a cold).

When I take them:

-for relief from a tension headache

-for relief from overall body aches associated with the flu or a severe head cold

They are usually taken as a single powder(or two, maximum) and no more than six(4) in a 24 hour period. They work on my headaches faster, Kimi, because the powders dissolve faster into the bloodstream, as opposed to tablets.

Other painkillers I have found effective against my headaches:

Aleve
Advil
Excedrin Tension Headache

Is there a taste or after-taste associated with this powder?

Not if you place the powder on your tongue and swallow immediately with a lot of water or other beverage. If you allow the powder to linger on your tongue or in your mouth you will experience the aftertaste: it's somewhat bitter. eyebrow
