Good. And I hope you know Wes Craven was the one who directed the film. |

Oh yes. That's one of the reasons I wanted to watch it. Wes Craven is a big name in horror, so I wanted to see why. |

Thanks. I'll be sure to write one as soon as I get to it. The next one I watch will probably be Scream 2. |

K I watched Scream 2. I hate to say it, but this one just felt off. It's overly long and convoluted. They throw in random characters that have no purpose. Everyone feels disposable. The first one was pretty serious and intensely gripping, but this one feels more like a cheap knock-off. It doesn't take itself seriously enough and the ending drags on far too long. I don't know for sure why I didn't like it. I just didn't really get it. It didn't even feel like a movie. I didn't believe anything that was happening. The ending had no resonance whatsoever. The whole thing was just an excuse to see people getting stabbed. The first one was a very effective horror film. I don't know exactly why this one fell so flat.

Here's an update on the supposed "reboot" of the "Scream" film franchise: Wes Craven is reportedly willing to direct a fourth Scream film...provided his compensation is better. The link: http://www.horror-movies.ca/horror_14366.html |

Well, if anybody can resurrect the slasher genre, it's Wes Craven. Maybe this new Scream trilogy will do the trick. I saw the first two Screams, but I still need to see the third. I'm probably going to watch it very soon here. |

Scream 3 (2000) - 7/10. Has most of the same problems the second one had. - Too silly and unbelievable. Doesn't take itself seriously enough. - Too long. - Bad dialog. - Poor character development. But there were a few things I liked better about it. The ending was more satisfying. I thought Scream 2's ending was pretty lame. Lance Henriksen is in it. Even if his role sucks, at least he's in it. There are some inspired scenes, like the one with the fax machine and the gas explosion. Great scene. I liked that they brought back Dewey again. And I like Neve Campbell as Sid. She's a good protagonist. And overall it's just a bit more entertaining than the second one. It's still kind of lame compared to the first one. But I think I'd still enjoy both Scream sequels more than most slasher movies. They're kind of like event films. I hope they don't kill off Sid, Dewey, or Gail in Scream 4, but I wouldn't mind seeing them in the film in some capacity. I also think it would be good to introduce a new set of people to star in a new trilogy. |

I hope they don't kill off the three surviving characters from the original films. That would really piss me off. They could be involved some way but center most of the action around new characters so that the original three would get to live in peace. The idea of a new Scream trilogy might seem a bit ludicrous at first, but Wes Craven is directing and Kevin Williamson is writing it, so I could not be more excited. |

I'm glad they're returning, but it sucks that Neve Campbell doesn't want to return. She's in The Philanthropist right now. It's a good show, but I'm sure she could make time for the movie. |

If you believe this update Neve Campbell is waiting for the "right" offer, regarding $, before returning to the "Scream" franchise: http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/32870/scream-4-update |
