Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here. For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju). -Lee "Packmule" Merritt site founder |

The second post I talked about when I made the scream thread. This movie series is so legendary, so talked about, and somade fun of that this film actualy challenged Freddy for his popularity points, despite being older.![]() ![]() This all started when a producer wanted to make a movie, and hired John Carpenter to direct and Deborah Hill to help write and Moustapha Akkad to executive produce. The film was a slow earner at first, but then grew into the start of the slasher films, unlike the Phyco films and the Texas Chain Saw Massacre which while successful sadly did not have enough fule and fire to start the slasher genre explosion. Since the classic, we have gotten more classics like H2, H4, and the remake. Sadly, H5, H20, and H:R were disappointing. But before I end, I want to also mention the standalone film: ![]() My second favorite film in the series, tied with H4 and before H1 Edited by packmule, Oct 2 2008, 06:56 PM.

Bad news guy, the rights to the Halloween series are being negotiated to be given to Platinum Dunes, the company which has remade and currently owns the rights to the other big four slasher horror franchises (Texas Chainsaw Massacare, if you can call it slasher, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13th). Lee, your thoughts on this? Personally, I do not like this one bit. I actualy liked it that Zombie, while his style might not be for everyone, did try to inject some originality into the films (especialy part 2). |

I didn't care for the "Friday The 13th" or 'ANOES" remakes much and based on that I'm not that confident I'll like what Platinum Dunes has in store for the "Halloween" film franchise. I agree with you, Evan about Rob Zombie. I liked Zombie's "Halloween" film(not as much as the '78 original directed by John Carpenter) but I thought it was solid. I haven't seen Zombies' sequel Halloween movie but I liked the trailer. I'll try and watch this sequel in the coming weeks. I would think a movie that features a hulking maniac wearing a mask comprised of human flesh and murdering people by chopping them up with a chainsaw would qualify as a "slasher" horror film.

I came across this cool short film which pits Michael Myers against three Japanese school girls straight out of Kinji Fukasaku's cult classic Battle Royale(2000): http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3200871/omfg-watch-halloween-re-envisioned-with-battle-royale-characters/ |
