Well, here is a prologue to my new diary. Staring last school year's last 2 months I did something that I was sure to be the worse decision in my life: joining my school's chorus.

Official Site:
http://www.hcbe.net/schools/fmms/chorus.html

This was during a "development time" for me. No, my dick hasn't gotten any bigger, but I was developing thanks to Heartwork my tastes in music, preferably my favorite, heavy metal.

I never really liked music class. Back when I was in a private school, it was mandatory that you had once a week music class (one a week music, once a week PE, once a week Library, and one a week Spainish Class). And I hated it. We were learning musical theory more than actual music. All the varieties of notes and such. Not much fun.

But after I swiched schools, I stayed away from music class, because I dreaded it more than rap and r&b music. But alas, one year passed and I was put into music class for a nine week period. And I loved it. All it was was playing piano. And the keyboards they gave us had headphones and such. They were more like synthisizers with the ability to change the sounds of the keys fron Piano to Organ to Electric Guitar. So, knowing the teacher fairly well, I sighned up for Chorus class. Mostly for at that time my crush who was also in it. But it is not that way now.

Anyway, 9 weeks have gone by and I love chorus. ure, we still do alittle piano now and then but learning how to sing correctly has been a blast, especialy when concurrently of being entered into the most award winning chorus in the Georgia state's middleschool, I got my first guitar, an Accoustic. And with that I know such simple riffs like

smoke on the water
rock you like a hurricane

But through experamentation and watching MV I have also learned some other things. Like for example, since my brother has a guitar I usualy make him turn his low E string down to sound like base and I use my guitar to play the first 18 seconds of Kiss's "I was made for Loving You" and something Heartwork doesn't know, Aira Ifukube's army march "Godzilla in Nagoya" using tabs from Tohokingdom.

But back to chorus: I love it. I am in the top 5 vocalist (and the one caucasion vocalist in that list). Here is what my teacher said about me:

"When he sang Heaven and Hell, his voice was 7/10. Sining correctly comes natural to him. The only thing he needs to work on is sight reading. He's gonna be great."

If you couldn't tell, that was abunch of quotes actualy put togeather. And I had to change "you" to "he" because thiese quotes were said to me.

But anyway, here I am going to keep a diary of my chorus life here for your enjoyment. In the name of Ronnie James Dio, Geoff Tate, and Maro Heitala: go out and sing metal!

Thoes names are my vocal inspirations.

Respectfully, I think I can speak for every member of this message board in saying we would all greatly appreciate it if you left references to your penis out of your posts. winky

We have, it would seem, at least one thing in common because I also was a member of my school's chorus. I joined thinking it would be a great way to meet young ladies. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I could actually sing fairly well. topper

I hope you will continue to allow your musical affinities to develop, of course assuming you want them to.

You mentioned "diary" in your first post. This message board has a blog function. You could always start a blog here as well.

^Yea, but how many people read the blogs? My guess: not many. Plus, this could be a good thing for this part of the board.

Chapter Two: Concerts and Skills

Well, It is two days into the week end and next Monday is going to be big: I neglected to tell you that this year, for the 8th graders the chorus students have been split up by gender for experimental purposes. However, due to wanting to change the gender split up into a chorus introduction class that lasts 9 weeks. For the kids that have already been the split gender chorus, they ar to join with the other gender for a multi-gender chorus class that does programs and concerts. Turns out, a few select (6/20 kids chosen) to go with the girls for the new 9 week period. I was one. And I am excited. Haven't really heard the girls roar out yet so... Nice to be in a higher course of chorus class...

And for concert wise, I am proud of myself. My soon-to-be-class is to sing at the church my grandmother goes to: St. Mary's Catholic Church. I am a loose catholic believer so the other kids should not worry about the church, and I hope my grandmother comes. Concert to be done on Oct. 25!

Glad it is a three day school week. So this is a short week. Tomorrow is in essence Thursday and not Tuesday and chorus is slow. Even though this is most probably karma talking extra rage on me because I failed one (I use to have emotional issues with a drunken father) things with chorus teamed up with the girls has gotten bad. Pre-pubescent girls spend too much talking and gossiping and crap like that. I want to get stuff done. And they obviously memorize instead of learn. Since my octave can go both ways girls and boys territory I feel like a important harmony point, along with the top five singers in the class.

In other news, Tuesdays are going to be gold for me since I get an hour with my chorus teacher now. She says she loves my voice (yes, she said love) and that the only thing I need to work on solo singing wise is technique, like using better vibrato.

On a lighter and more finger blistering note, I have learned the King of The Monsters theme from GFW! Talk about some light core metal... And my voice practice songs have been:

Nightwish's Symphony of Destruction cover
Northern Kings We don't need another hero
Dio with Queensryche-the chase

Your voice hasn't changed yet?

When I sang in high school and in church, I was initially a baritone. Once I was a senior in high school I was more a bass. winky

Nope, my voice has not changed, and I am 15 (like I said, I failed once for emotional problems and so I am still in middle school). I am a tenor. But if I take a big enough breath, I can make my voice deep like crap but having to cut my total time of holding a note in half.

Oct. 10

Yesterday, the 9th, was a sad day for me: I was in a 15 hour coma. It was the longest I have slept in a while. When I got home, I ate a quick dinner (Chinese, and not the fake stuff either! YES!) and then just fell asleep till my alarm went off. So one night of practice was wasted, or Family Guy or South Park. But eh...

Today was expected, we had to sing with 7th graders. Holy crap did I have to stand up for the guys. 7th grade males don't give a crap and the 8th grade boys except me kept talking to the girls behind us. For those that were singing, I had to increase my voice a lot, and so my voice is blown. But I did hear the "considered best" male vocalists over talking and one actually said he stopped singing once I actually roared out. So, I feel good being the Ronnie James Dio or Marco Hietala of the chorus room as far as males are concerned, regardless of being overweight or not being the tallest anymore.

On an end note, I am pissed that since I have to take a plane trip this Saturday, I am not going to try for all state chorus. And when I made this much progress in just 9 weeks. CRAP!

It's a fact that teenagers often need more sleep than adults. winky

Since I do not like doing a long quote on quote on quote post, I am going to use the number system.

1. Yea, but I missed my daily watching of Family Guy and South Park! Thoes are the only shows that relieve the stress of school life

2. Yea, and I have major horone rushed also. But atleast I can controll them for 8 hours a day.

3. Is that laugh because:

A. I sound like an idiot because what are the chances of them saying that
B. I am lying for the sake of my own ego
C. You like how it changed around...

Well, after a week break it is the weekend again. And because of the start of red ribbon week - a silly week long ritual where we wear red ribbons to reject drugs - I am happy because if we get retro day again, I am going to dress up as scarface. It is so punk because I defeat the purpose and I am an unmistakable icon! Last Year I was Alice Cooper.

Chorus wise, the past Saturday was try outs for all state chorus which I could not attend because my family had to take care of legal busness that day. But I do not know if my crush, who tried out, passed or not. I shall ask her soon. And we got two new songs in one day to sing, all in foreign languages. Either Israeli or Latin. Hard work. No one really sang, so we just heard the piano play to the music. But when it comes to songs the class should know by heart, two more boys have stopped singing. Now I am actually going nervous because what if I actually have a bad singing voice and my teacher lied to me, saying she liked my voice just to encourage me and protect my hope?! I am pondering on this...

So what if your teacher did exaggerate her assessment of your singing voice? Is that so bad? Maybe her reply was meant to encourage you to sing only because she knows you enjoy doing it. If this is the case then I applaud her actions. I doubt that her motive would be to deliberately mislead you into believing something that is flat out not true. winky
