Remember alittle thing called Versus, a film directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, one of my favorite films, and has been highly acclaimed all over the world and turns the director in such a legend that the newest Clive Barker adaptation "Midnight Meat Train" was directed by him for his American debut. But Ryuhei is returning to his roots. But he cannot decide one thing: a sequel to Versus or him REMAKING Versus with an AMERICAN cast. Which would you like to see: a sequel or a GOOD remake (good because Kitamura will write and direct and maybe produce). Remake News: http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ryuhei-kitamura-announces-american-remake-of-versus/ Versus 2 was mainly a rumor. But till a posibility. Was talked about on the Ultimate Versus commentary. |

Me neither. Final Wars was one seriously bad Godzilla movie, but it was also a heck of a lot of fun. So maybe Versus is worth watching. |

If you do, watch the theatrical first, then "Ultimate" Versus. |

I saw Versus years ago, not sure which version I watched. It was definitely an interesting film, combing zombies and cool gunplay into what I would describe as a campy but enjoyable action-fest. I'm glad to hear they are making another. |

First, thanks for the kind words Josh TX... The diffrence between the theatrical version and the directors cut "ULTIMATE" Versus is for the most part: -redid begining credits. In the theatrical, it is just words on a black screen with errie music. In Ultimate, it is the same but the screen shows the same words in front of the camera filming traveling in space to earth with weird flashes of gold. -many action sequences were re-filmed because Kitaura claimed "the first version of Versus got boring to him, so for his enjoyment he did reshoots 5 years later". This includes better blood, fixed color color timing (something that the theatrical version lacked), an alternate scenes. -in the sword fights, more sparks come from the swords -the epilogue is in greenlight and not blue light -the end credits have red sparks for the back ground instead of plain blackness. That is just a general summary. If you want to get both versions, there is a buyer beware: in 2003 when Media Blasters first released Versus, they over did it. It was released three times: -R Cut -Special 2 disc -Directors Cut all three editions are the exact same. Jut as a stupid marketing scheme they released it three times. The R-Cut and the 2 disc version both are the same thing: an edited version of the theatrical version which is ment for cable television (which Versus has only premired on the TMC channels). The directors cut is the actual theatrical version. It is confusing. If buying a version of the theatrical version, get the directors cut. For the REAL directors cut, there is only one: Ultimate Versus which has been released only in Japan, USA, and Korea. |
