Yeah, you read that right; "Gorgo"!! Apparently, it's a 15 minute short film written by; M.J. Simpson and directed by; Benjamin Craig: http://www.cinemagine.com/screen/waitingforgorgo/ and here's the details including links to several photos on 'Flicker': http://www.mjsimpson.co.uk/waitingforgorgo.html Synopsis Deep in the bowels of the Ministry of Defense lies a secretive government department identified only as the ‘DMOA’. Just what the DMOA does has been lost in the annals of time - all that is known is that it's the last line of defense protecting London from total destruction. Determined to find out more about this strange department, Alexandra, a young ambitious defense analyst, sets off into the rabbit warrens of Whitehall to see the DMOA for herself. Finding two aged public servants in varying stages of senility, Alexandra is convinced that the DMOA is the result of an unfortunate mistake. However, as the conversation progresses it becomes apparent that the old guys may not be as senile as they seem, and more worryingly, they may indeed be London's last line of defense. Here's more: http://www.cinemagine.com/news.asp?id=37 and one of the many pics available on the 'Flicker' pages: http://flickr.com/photos/28295240@N06/2639143994/in/set-72157605990136827/

Thanks for the info, Avery. I'm glad Gorgo is getting a film treatment again, though I'll be the first to admit I wish it was in a no-nonsense, full length feature film. Hopefully, a director will decide to remake or "update" the 1961 film. Perhaps this 15 minute short film will be the catalyst for a Gorgo remake.

"Fangorias" exclusive scoop with behind-the-scenes photos and a much better more in-depth explanation of the project than I could possibly ever give from the screenwriter himself; M.J. Simpson: http://www.fangoriaonline.com/gore/home/news/9-film-news/243-first-peek-at-waiting-for-gorgo-short.html For more information check out the official webpage: http://www.mjsimpson.co.uk/waitingforgorgo.html |
