What annoys you most about the fandom? One fact per post. Kinda like a word game but it is not because we can talk about the stuff and debate. I shall go first: I hate it when people count g84 as a remake of the original. |

Specifically, flame wars that have carried on at various large kaiju themed boards over anything from fantasy battles between kaiju to self aggrandizing on the part of those who believe their own opinions regarding kaiju and kaiju films, and nobody else's , are the only ones that matter. A great deal of this kind of behavior is due, IMO, to arrogance. It's also due to people taking these films far too seriously.

And adding to this I've found that many of these very people Matthew alludes to are also the first ones to accuse someone else, who is the recipient of their behavior, of being overly sensitive to their remarks, which is bullshit. |

I can't speak for others at this message board but I do not regard you, as a fan of giant monsters and Godzilla, as anything like those that have been mentioned in this topic thread. I would characterize you as opinionated and sometimes a little overly excitable(I've been accused of this from time to time) but not arrogant, rude or intolerant of other's opinions. |

I see. Suggestion: concentrate on just being yourself and always be open to constructive criticism that may come your way. Let me tell you something: there are, obviously, some people on internet message boards that will not be cordial to you, for whatever reason. Ignore them, whether it be here or any other board you post at. How you are regarded, and how you will be remembered, by your fellow kaiju fans on these message boards, is how you react to those who would act hostile towards you. |

I didn't know anyone did that. It's obviously a sequel, and I like it that way.
I think I've seen some of that. It kind of reminds me of the Star Trek vs. Star Wars debate. I happen to like Godzilla and Gamera both a lot. Same with Star Trek and Star Wars. I'm a fan of both. |

That's a new one to me too. But I haven't been exposed the Kaiju fandom that long really. I just learned the basics and then spent most of my time here after I got back into Godzilla. |

I corrected the spelling to "Shinsei". "Shinsei" is a term, and an incorrect one at that, sometimes used to describe the Godzilla films which are correctly referred to as the "Heisei" films. The term "Shinsei" was debunked by Keith Aiken at the ATARI Godzilla forums last year, regarding the Godzilla films made from 1984-1995. If I remember correctly the term "Shinsei" was started by someone and it caught on(for some unknown reason). |
