^Well, whether referring to the Heisei or Millennium series, I hate that calling. It looks like "Sensei" and the only film series deserving of the calling of that is the Showa series.

Something that really ticks me off more than anything is when I meet people who instead of hating Godzilla have seen some of the films just for fun and supports the false fact of the alternate endings of King Kong vs. Godzilla.

Why should this upset you? If others who post at various message boards want to believe something that is not true, then why not just let them? It's not worth getting angry over. winky

I think that most Godzilla fans know the truth by now. And we can count on the majority of Godzilla fans to set the minority straight. winky

And just to be sure that I'm a true Godzilla fan, the only difference in the Japanese version is an extra Godzilla roar near the end. Besides that the endings are identical, right? heyo

I guess one thing that bothers me is that most people think of the Godzilla movies as a big joke. This impression is based solely on some of the cheesier Showa films. Admittedly, I still like most of those cheesier Godzilla movies. But I think it's unfair of them to write Godzilla off as complete cheese just from that.

^Amen, especialy since GMK and G3 are some of the best films made period in a critical sence. If only the academy awards did stuff for foreign films...

I haven't watched either the American or Japanese version of King Kong Vs Godzilla in many months but off hand that sounds right.

There is NOT, contrary to what some people have posted at various message boards, any difference in the outcome of the final battle between King Kong and Godzilla. In both the American and Japanese(uncut) versions of this film, both monsters, at the conclusion of their fight, demolish a huge castle, then clinch and fall together into the ocean. A wake appears on the surface which trails away from where the two monsters landed in the ocean. Moments later King Kong appears on the surface and starts swimming away. The fact that Kong is the only monster to surface and swim away is commonly interpreted(including myself) as a King Kong victory. The Godzilla roar heard at the end, along with Kong's, has apparently convinced many kaiju movie fans that Godzilla survived the battle. I can roll with this but there's no way I'm going along with any other conclusion that contradicts Kong winning the battle: he surfaced and Godzilla did not. In my mind that = a Kong win. winky

That brings up another thing: debates on winners. I hear people argue about Kong and Biollante most

I always thought King Kong was portrayed as more of a good guy, even in the Japanese version. I didn't outright notice any difference between the two versions, but I may remember an added roar just as the ending titles appear.

Even if Godzilla did survive, I'd call it a Kong win. I prefer Godzilla as a monster, but Kong is supposed to be the hero of that film.

I wouldn't normally debate about it, though. It doesn't matter to me too much who thinks which monster won. I like them both.

This is reminding me of how much we need a remake of that movie. West meets East. Jackson's King Kong was a pretty big hit over here. I think America would like to see Kong fight Godzilla. Not the American Godzilla, though. I want to see our Kong fight Japan's Godzilla.

King Kong was portrayed as the "good guy" in King Kong Vs Godzilla. Something to bear in mind: at the time of this film, in the early 1960's, King Kong was already an established "star" and more universally recognized worldwide. Godzilla had two films to his credit, and was still a relatively(compared to Kong) unknown in the galaxy of cinema giant monsters. It's no secret that Toho, in particular such high profile Toho employees like director Inoshiro Honda and Special Effects director Eiji Tsuburaya, had tremendous respect for the character King Kong, which no doubt heavily influenced Toho's decision to make KK the good guy and Godzilla the "heavy" in this film. Toho believed that a match up with a "star" like Kong was the perfect way to resurrect their own monster, Godzilla(not seen since 1955's "Godzilla Raids Again"), on the big screen. winky

I have seen a lot of posts like this one. I've made, admittedly, a few myself advocating a remake of King Kong Vs Godzilla. I can't comment on whether a market for such a remake exists though personally, I believe such a film could be marketed enough to make it a reasonably profitable film-no blockbuster mind you but it would make a nice profit for both Toho and Universal, the respective owners of the film's combatants, Godzilla and King Kong. The fact these monsters are both owned by two different, and large film studios also makes this remake unlikely, if you believe what has been posted so far on the web. Universal would no doubt be asked by Toho to pay a large fee for the rights to use Godzilla in this remake, and likewise for Toho using King Kong. I believe these two studios could get a deal done, if they really wanted to. Obviously since it hasn't happened one has to assume it's not something being considered by either studio right now.

Not the American Godzilla, though

I am sometimes annoyed, though I wouldn't go as far as to say "hate", regarding some of the elitist attitudes on display at various message boards by folks who are considered "industry insiders" within the kaiju scene.

Biollante? What kind of arguments?

I've seen two colossal arguments break out in topic threads at both Toho Kingdom and Kaiju Galaxy regarding whether the kaiju Destoroyah is of female gender or is genderless.

^Over who won. Some people say that Biooante won and not Godzilla. Godzilla won in my eyes. And Godzilla won against Kong.

And Godzilla won against Kong
Considering how the battle between these monsters ended, that is, Kong surfacing and swimming away and Godzilla not surfacing, I'm curious as to how you reach that conclusion.

Godzilla Fans who act like they know everything and that they are never wrong.
Not only fans, but the ELITE fans who think they're celebrities as big as the actors in the films themselves.
