I was wondering if any of the Godzilla films were released to LD and if so, how they compare to the current DVD releases and if Godzilla vs Biollante was a LD release.

That's an interesting question. How many Godzilla films have been released on laserdisc? Based on my search engine browsing, looks like just about all of them-the Showa, Heisei, and Millenium films, many from differing sources. LDs aren't cheap either. They appear to be priced generally(and in some cases considerably) higher than DVDs. silver surprised

Guess it's time to decide whether to thank me or curse me...again. tongue-1

Getting The Return Of Godzilla(1984) on DVD in lbx/eng subtitles for just over $5 plus shipping is a great deal. It was deals like these I saw advertised on the internet that prompted me to get off my ass and get a multi-region DVD player. glow eyes

Well, I thank you every time you bring a great title to my attention, then might curse a wee bit, when I'm eating Saltine crackers and water for dinner! ;)

I do have a birthday at the end of January and quite often, I'm gifted with cash, so I may try and save as much as possible and simply put a nice big order in of all these titles you're bringing to my attention. Mr Green

Or you could try Ramen/Maruchan noodles, mayonnaise sandwiches, PBJ sandwiches, even thin spaghetti. All are cheap consumables... tongue-1

PB & J are a regular staple of my diet as is buttered noodles/spaghetti, I've never eaten Ramen noodles, though, I may add them to my list, to cehck out. :)

You might also try Nissin Chow-Mein noodles-flavors like "Garlic Shrimp", "Beef Teriyaki", and "Chicken" are all very tasty. I have seen these packets sold at Publix, Kroger(an Atlanta chain), and at Costco. They retail for about .80-.90 cents a container, more expensive than Ramen noodles(at .10-.15 cents a packet), but the "Nissin" chow mein noodles includes liquid flavoring and vegetables that are cooked into the noodles as well(Ramen is simply noodles and a flavoring).

Topic: comic relief in Godzilla Vs Biollante(1989) was provided, intentionally or not, and IMO, by the Saradian hitman-as if his cheesy attire and tacky driving gloves were not enough, his profanity was just as bizarre. Recall this guy exiting the building nonchalantly as Godzilla thunders past, commenting...Damn, it's Godzilla, as if the monster had inconvenienced him in some way or another. laughing smiley

I'd LOVE to see a widescreen, Japanese-language version of BIOLLANTE on DVD.
There is a Region 3/NTSC DVD of this film released by Universe Laser and available at DDDHouse.com. It is very affordably priced also. Dan, just a reminder that you can purchase, online, a decent multi-region DVD player(or Region-free player) starting at about $60 plus shipping. If you come into some extra $ you might to want to invest in one buddy. :)

I have a very nice DVD-R of the film, now, it's widescreen and Japanese language. I received it from a friend and it appears this must have been released as a 2-disc package, as it says bonus features can be located on disc 2, but I only have the one disc. After Christmas, I hope to replace this DVD-R with the official R3 DVD.

Mine shipped on 11/7. The last order I got from DDDHouse.com took exactly seven(7) days to arrive, so hopefully I will have this Region 3 in my hands this coming week. I will give you a brief(for once tongue-1 ) take on this disc after I have watched it. :)

Like the other Region 3 "Universe Laser" DVDs this one, Godzilla Vs Biollante(1989), is solid. When I have opened all of these discs, ordered from DDDHouse.com, I am pleased to see that the seller has placed each disc inside a paper sleeve to protect the disc during transit-this gets points with me. The DVD's menu is easy to navigate, and I just select "Japanese Language" option, then the Chinese/English subtitles option off the menu. The englih subtitles are paired under the image with their Chinese equivalent(one cannot be seen without the other). The menu includes scene select(chapter stops) and a trailer. The DVD print quality of this and the other "Universe Laser" DVDs is good. For just over $5 each these DVDs are, IMO, a very good deal. thumbs up

Great! I have, Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah-Giant Monsters-All Out Attack and Godzilla vs Megaguirus all on R3 and through 'Universe Laser' and I couldn't agree more about their great picture quality and ease of navigation through their menus. I didn't relaize I had the discs from Universe Laser, until I just checked......that makes thinking about purchasing these R3 discs even an easier choice.....after Christmas! ;)

Godzilla Vs Biollante(1989) has one of my favorite one-liners from all Toho kaiju films:

Colonel Gondo to Godzilla, who is lurking outside the building Gondo is standing in:

"That intravenous stuff'll kill you. Stick to smoking." lol
