I think a lot of people are going to miss(the late) Steve Irwin. :( Well said Patrick, and thanks again for posting the news about Mr. Irwin's passing here at MF. |

The Animal Planet has been showing a ton of episodes of, The Crocodile Hunter and it's still so weird to think of Irwin no longer, here. The man's enthusiasm for what he did certainly could be infectious and he really was sincere about his cause of saving wildlife and that's certainly a worthy endeavor. I hope his wife continues on with his legacy, but I get the feeling, she will and you have to wonder, if his young children will carry on with their Father's efforts, as they get older. Certainly not a sad legacy for their Father, if they do so! |

This is the official thread for bidding farewells-to a deceased celebrity or perhaps someone in the family. Post whatever you feel comfortable sharing. It goes without saying that the content of this thread should always be respectful, and sensitive, to everyone here at this site, and to those who have passed of whom we refer to. |

I read at another discussion site about the passing of Nigel Neale, who died on October 29th. He was 84. Mr. Neale of course was responsible for writing what the Quatermass films were largely based on, as well as the story that would eventually become the Hammer film The Abominable Snowman(1957). There is a tribute to him at the Hammer Films website. The link: Nigel Neale tribute |

I kept meaning to post this and forgetting to. :( This is sad news, indeed, the man was a brilliant force and certainly has left the world with plenty of wonderful works to remember him by, so I can be thankful for that, I suppose. What's distressing, though, is none of the news feeds I have on my homepage ever mentioned the passing, including two feeds from the UK! very angry I never knew about this until a UK friend I E-mail with, mentioned it to me and he said the sad thing is, Kneale's passing didn't garner much attention in the UK. :( I totally enjoyed Kneale's commentary track with Roy Ward Baker for Hammer's, Quatermass and the Pit. |

Legendary animation producer Joseph Barbera has died. He was 95. Together with William Hanna the phrase "Hanna-Barbera" became synonymous with animation excellence, and iconic cartoon characters like Scooby Doo were just one example of these two men's work. I was very saddened, when I read this, yesterday. :( At 95, Barbera certainly lived a full life, but it's still sad when those who entertained us in front of and behind the cameras pass on. |

Very true, but I also think a part of Mr. Barbera will live on in all the cartoon characters on television that continue, today and onwards, to make children smile and laugh. thumbs up |

Legendary rock and soul singer/entertainer James Brown has died. He was 73. Brown was admitted to a hospital here in Atlanta early Monday morning with pneumonia and later passed away. There has been no official reason given, yet, for the cause of his death. James Brown, an icon in the music industry and nicknamed "The Hardest Working Man In Show Business" and "The Godfather Of Soul", won several Grammys and, despite numerous health problems, continued, until recently, to tour. The music industry has lost a great one. He will be missed. :( May he Rest In Peace. |

Former President Gerald Ford has died. He was 93. The reason for the former President's death was not immediately disclosed. Gerald Ford was the only U.S. President not elected to office-in 1974, and currently the Vice-President in the Nixon administration, Ford was sworn in as President after President Richard Nixon resigned due to the Watergate scandal. President Ford ran for the office "officially" two years later, but was defeated in November of 1976 in the general election by Democrat Jimmy Carter. At a time when the Watergate scandal soured the entire nation on the Office of the U.S. Presidency, Ford, a self-described "plodder", was, IMO, exactly what our country needed, serving his term with a quiet, conservative work ethic, his honest, genuine and personable demeanor earning him the respect of the American people. Personally, for me, I have always regretted the fact, and with no disrespect to Jimmy Carter, that Gerald R. Ford didn't get elected in 1976, and have the opportunity to serve a full, four year term as President Of The United States. For more details on President Ford's passing, and his life, click the link: Gerald R. Ford May he Rest In Peace. :( |
