This is one of the oldest tropes regarding villains in film. They often have confident, mocking laughs. Some of these are really rather memorable. This thread is for listing your favorite "evil laughs" in film and television. 1: The best laugh in television and cinema history, I find, is performed by the Wicked Witch of the West in the 1939 Wizard of Oz. Margaret Hamilton's Witch in general is according to me the best villain in history, partially because of this incredible laugh which she continues to deliver numerous times in the movie. And to add irony to this excellence, Margaret Hamilton was originally a schoolteacher... 2: Dr. Pretorius from Bride of Frankenstein, as he sits alone smoking and watching a skull, delivers a laugh I'll never forget. 3: Any laugh performed by Vincent Price can qualify here. 4: Dr. Horrible, from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. He goes through the effort of practicing with a vocal coach, and this shows in the third act as he launches one of the most brilliant laughs I've heard. 5: Riddler, from the 1966 Batman TV series, played by Frank Gorschin. There's no denying it, Frank's giggling laugh made the character memorable. |

Agreed. ![]() I also agree with you on this one. Two other "laughs" that immediately come to mind for me: 1. Caesar Romero, who played "The Joker" in the 1966 Batman TV series. His laugh was both funny and maniacal IMO at the same time. 2. Jack Nicholson, who played "The Joker" in the 1989 Tim Burton directed film Batman. His laugh personified the mental instability and psychosis of the character quite well. Another one: - Baltan-Seijin, the malevolent insectoid aliens that menace humanity in the various Ultraman TV series. The "laugh" of these creatures is quite creepy. |

Romero's was not quite as impressive as Nicholson's, in my opinion. It didn't show insanity, it was just the laugh of a criminal who fancied himself a funnyman. Invader Zim, from the cartoon series of the same name, occasionally pulls off a brutally evil laugh, often overdoing it greatly to a lovable effect. And Heath Ledger's Joker, when laughing, creeped me out something fierce. Then again, anything he did succeeded in that. |

There are many evil laughter's which are good, but there is one actor who delivers IMO the most memorable evil laughter - That actor is Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger in all the A Nightmare On Elm Street films, his laughter and giggles in the first ANOES film were well delivered and creepy. The sequels Robert Englund IMO still did a good job delivering the evil laughter fof the dream slasher. |

Awesome thread. There is nothing I love more than a good evil laugh coming from an awesome villain. Here are some of my favorites. 1. The Predator. Blows me away every time I see that part. That laugh combined with Arnold running as the jungle lights up behind him. God, it gives me chills. 2. Raiders of the Lost Ark. Beloq's laugh echoing through the jungle is another one of the best evil laughs I've ever heard. 3. Dr. Smith in episode 2 of Lost in Space. That part where he programs the Robot to do his bidding. He has the Robot crush this can and then he laughs maniacally. I can't help but smile at that. God bless you Jonathan Harris. If I can think of any more I like I'll post them later. 4. Kurgan's evil laughing from Highlander is pretty badass. Edited by crowmagnumman, Nov 25 2008, 03:54 AM.

That's a great one, I just remembered the laughter from the Predator, it was good and a little bit creepy. All the Joker actors did a good job delivering their evil laughter, but non of the laughter matches up to Mark Hamill's animated Joker laughter IMO. Another good one is Matt Hullum's O'Malley (Omega) Laughter from Red Vs Blue, he did a better job then the previous voice actor - Joel Heyman for the character IMO.
