According to someone on tohokingdom...

"It is expected that Toho will begin rolling out the films on blu-ray at about 1 to 3 per quarter in a somewhat sequential order to the film's original release starting in late Summer, early Winter of '09. It is also likely many of the films will include the original mono (or stereo) soundtracks, isolated film scores as well as "5.1 Remixed Surround" soundtracks much like the region 2 dvds did with varying results (some were decent, some sounded terrible). Other extras widely vary depending on the film as seen on the original region 2 dvds. I would *not* expect to see North America or "International" English language dubbed versions paired on these releases. "

If these are Region 2 Blu-Ray DVD releases and with no English subtitle option then you can be certain of two things:

1. they will be expensive

2. I won't be buying any.

1. I will save the cash
2. I shall be getting them. Except for King Kong vs. Godzilla, I have memorized all the films. A curse and a blessing I guess. Plus, look at thiese pics:

If Godzilla films are released in Region 1 Blu-Ray format I would likely buy them. For what I would have to pay I would expect the English subtitle option. Without that option I cannot justify spending that kind of money on these movies.

They look better but I'm not sure if they look "better" enough to buy all of these movies over again in another DVD format.

Which makes me wonder, even with Blu-Ray technology, just how much these older films can be "cleaned" up. winky

You're implying that the recent re-release of Rodan by Classic Media is also not good enough?

Yes. The american version of Rodan on the new disc is the same as the 2002 disc and the Japanese print is almost in the same shape. Not that it takes away enjoyment value but it could be better.

We have known about that for quite some time. A rather disapointing release.
