Anyone play this game yet? I'm a fan of the other 3 Fallouts (1, 2 and Tactics, never played the console one because I heard it was crap) and I'm really enjoying this one. It's quite a jarring change from the last installments, but I'm really spending hours on this game. Experiencing the wasteland first hand is beyond awesome, and at the beginning you really feel you're out there scavenging parts, food and supplies just to survive (however, much like the previous installments eventually you hit god mode millionaire by the end of the game). I actually found the side missions to be far more fun and interesting than the main one. Running into the Republic of Dave or Big Town actually made me laugh. The humor of Fallout 1 was translated well into this title. Certain things were lost, but overall the feel was sustained. Edited by crow_t_robot, Jan 9 2009, 11:31 AM.

I've played the very first Fallout game but haven't touched them since. They are interesting but just not my kind of game. Fallout 3 does look pretty nice though. |

My Father picked up this game, oddly enough, and he basically just plays Madden. Many people have recommended it to me but right now I don't have the extra cash or even the time for a game of it's length. I'm currently saving up for Street Fighter 4 and then in March it'll be time for Resident Evil 5. Maybe I'll get to Fallout by the time the price goes down. |

This might sound odd, but Fallout 3 doesn't play anything like the previous two aside from its RPG elements and its setting. It's primarily real time with pause in a first person mode. The emphasis definately is on the pause feature. Real time feels a bit clunky, but it's not bad. Also, the wasteland is more than just a barren environment of random events. The events are still there but you can actually explore the wasteland now. One criticism I do have is on the main storyline. About halfway through (at least I thought it was) the story speeds up and if you take the wrong mission you actually can be forced into the ending (which I didn't like the ending). But despite the main ending woes, the side quests are golden in this game. I don't think I've ever played a RPG in which I enjoyed the side missions more than the main quest. |

Interesting, maybe I'll rent it one day but there a lot of games coming out that will take up most of my time as is...but I still may give it a try. |

My roommate has the game on the 360. I've watched him play quite a bit and if you like the Elderscroll Series and FPS games, then you would love Fallout 3. The storyline is very captivating too. |

There's a new rumor floating around that a "Game Of The Year" Edition of Fallout 3 will be released sometime in October, and will include all 5 DLC expansions that would cost you 50 bucks if bought separately. I've been waiting on this game, but if this new rumor is true, I'll be picking up the GOTY edition in October for sure. |

Josh I can confirm that the rumor is indeed true. Take your pick http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_1_17?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=fallout+3+game+of+the+year+edition&x=0&y=0&sprefix=Fallout+3+Game+of Sadly for me though I've gotten all the expansions but Mothership Zeta. I should have just waited and traded my copy in for a copy of this :( Edited by gvamp, Aug 14 2009, 04:42 AM.

Thanks for the link Gvamp...I'm pretty stoked about this rumor being true. I'm going to try to avoid buying too many more games so I'll be ready when it comes out. I was told Point Lookout was the best expansion and I watched a few of the gameplay videos on Youtube...it did look pretty fun. Do you agree with it being the best? Which of the other expansions did you think were good? |

Josh honestly I haven't played any of the expansions yet. See a few months ago I was getting caught up with my back games this being one of them and I played through the main story and decided I'd come back to them later this year or early next year. From what I've seen point look out does look like the most interesting. Though "Broken Steel" is cool because it increases the level cap in the game and adds a decent level 30 perks either or is great. |

Looks like you have the same disease I have, Gvamp: Too many games you want to play and far too little time to play them. I think Trent and probably quite a few others have this problem too. |

I'm ususally good at beating games on time, it's the games that are never ending like Animal Crossing or an RPG that I usually come back to. I got Oblivion back on launch and I played through the main story that year which was 2006. Then last year my friend picked up the game during the summer (he's a teacher so he has summers off) and was calling me all the time for advice so I decided to pop the game back in and play a new character and make it a pure mage. I breezed through the mage guild stuff in about 25 hours or so adding that on top of the 38 hours I had put into my first game characters, then he gave me the bonus disc that had Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine on it so I was playing Sivering Isles for a bit before stopping that. It's really the RPGS that get you behind but they have such engrossing stories. |

True. I got bogged down in Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core because I decided I was going to play all the missions and side quests. Ended up investing over 50 hours into that one. LOL |
