![]() http://www.tokyomonsters.com/ Tokyo Monsters (TM) was a site I used to run from 2003-2006. It became very popular because we hosted high quality video clips from kaiju movies like Godzilla and Gamera, before the days of YouTube! But in all honesty it was a huge burden and I never really enjoyed running it. Having finally regained control over the old TM domain, I'm now using it as a kind of jump-station between several sites I maintain/contribute to. I've also archived some "dummy" versions of the various designs of the old TM website that I accidently found on a decaying CD-R (just for the sake of nostalgia), and have begun a new "TM Blog", which will be used to resurrect some of the old TM content (DVD reviews, etc) and also for some short kaiju related ramblings. |

Whoa, this was you? The one website I cried when I found out it was lost belong to you. Man, you are a god now since I know. Do you know Baradagi1985? I think he used some of your clips... But honestly, whoa. |

I was always supremely impressed by the video clips and other media related things posted at the "original" Tokyo Monsters. I cannot begin to imagine how much work(or $) you must have invested in the site, Jim. I'm glad to see this update from you! Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words! I realized I still owned "tokyomonsters.com" recently, despite my host going out of business or changing their name or something, so I did some calling around this week and managed to get control of it again. By coincidence I also found a CD with all the old site data on it just before Christmas. While I can't afford to host the entire site again, I thought I'd put up some of the old designs just for people to look at, and then use the blog to re-post some of the old written work. Then it's not entirely lost! |

If you don't mind my asking what happened to the Tokyo Monsters "forums" part of the site? Was it also a part of the original domain service? |

The forums are gone completely, unless I find an old database file somewhere, which is probably unlikely. To be honest, I don't think the forums are a great loss. I still have all the subtitles. I'll put them on the blog along with the guides. |

Jim, I know you're a contributing writer at Sci-Fi Japan. Do you write for other sites? What are your career aspirations? |

I remember hearing about this site. But by time I discovered it, it was too late. From what I've heard, it was a great site and very popular. A lot of fans were sad to see it go. |

Yep. I loved the site and as I said, when it closed I cried. I only cried three times for Godzilla: Ifukube's death, Goji's death in Gojira, and the closing of tokyomonsters... And it is all thanks to the hell hole which was Maser City. As I recall, Tokyo Monsters told on Maser City because Maser City had an illegal download of GFW. Maser City out of spite ruined TokyoMonsters with a virus. It was a damn shame also. |
