In order to fix our economy it's really simple the president needs to lower our taxes.
Barack Obama's a Democrat, Tom. Historically, Democratic party US presidents raise taxes. I believe Obama will continue this trend. winky

Also there needs to be more jobs created, more jobs means more people working, people working means they aren't afraid to spend their money which in turn means the economy will make a come back
I agree with you but I also believe Obama's stimulus package will only generate temporary jobs, that is, the ones that are created for all these projects throughout the country funded by stimulus dollars. When these projects are finished, what happens to those who were employed to do these projects? They become unemployed again.

The stimulus package has two problems, as I see it:

1. it doesn't create enough jobs overall, and permanent jobs, to counter the 1.4 million jobs lost since January, 2008. So far about 150,000-200,000 jobs have been created, according to Obama and his advisers. Of course this claim cannot be verified, which immediately IMO calls into the question the validity of this claim.

2. it will saddle future generations with even greater debt, bringing the United States closer to the brink of complete and irreversible financial ruin

Barack Obama is, like the vast majority of modern day presidents, another political "slick willie" who is a self aggrandizing, arrogant and condescending suit.

He's completely out of touch with the lower and middle income class working people of the United States. He has, like past presidents, made a lot of promises while campaigning for the Oval Office that become little more than afterthoughts after he got elected. Gays have already starting assailing Obama for doing nothing about a promise he made, as a Presidential candidate, to get national legislation passed legalizing same sex marriages.

Like other fat cats that preceded him, he'll do a four or eight year term, retire to an enormous pension and comfortable care free life charging $10,000 per speech on national speaking tours, and make even more money on a book about his presidency...all while we Americans suffer with the enormous bag of shit he's left behind.

I've always considered Joseph Biden a buffoon. This article, in which the V.P. acknowledges that "we misread how bad the economy is" does nothing to change my mind about this clueless old man: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31745563/ns/politics-white_house

Give credit to Vice President Joe Biden for one thing: he has an ironclad grasp of the obvious.

Also we need to stop outsourcing so much. Sure you can save a few pennies by doing this but this hurts America as a whole and when America hurts economical the whole world does
Agreed. Corporate greed = outsourcing. I have long maintained that corporate greed and government waste of taxpayer dollars, and government ineptitude at all levels(local, state and national) is causing the gradual decline and slow ruination of the United States.

I do agree with raising of Taxes but that's not the way to improve the economy.

Another issue I'm not sure how promint it is in other states but here in Michigan Welfare is a major issue, now I have no problem with people who get on it until they can get on there feet but here in Michigan we have people who make a career out of welfare. IE they get it with the intention of never getting a legitmate job.

I honestly can't wait for the next goverment elections here in Michigan because our current governer is doing an absolutely terrible job. In fact our state which used to have promint standing in the auto industry is all but dried up for jobs. She (our governer) has it so no new business without said business paying a huge tax.

My friend and I where going to start a media store but that plan feel through because well the lot we where looking at would cost us $600,000 annually in rent that's not including other expenses.

Believe me there are plenty of people like that in Georgia, who are content to receive government $ assistance without ever trying to find work or otherwise improve their chances of finding work. winky

Well at least my state isn't the only one that does it. I do feel bad because I go to school and I get financial aid which covers more than enough of my schooling costs. This past year I got back about $5,000 grand each time. Though I was smart and put it right back into the economy after I paid off bills of course.

Don't feel bad, Tom: you're attending school is a means by which you're working to better yourself, something that's commendable. It's also becoming a necessity for a lot of people these days.

Those who are unemployed should be obviously looking for work. They should also be, while looking, try to improve their marketable skills or even attend a school(vocational or technical) if possible.

I was told as was my best friend that in hard economic times the best thing to do is attend school.

My original plan as of April this year was once I graduate in December assuming I pass all my classes (which I will as I'm going to work extra hard) is take a couple years off from school then comeback like Fall 2011 and in the meantime work on getting a business opened with said best friend above, but since that idea got shot down my plans have been bumped up a year. So next fall I'll be going back into school to finish off my bachelors in Management and also dual enrolling in another school to get a minor in writing.

During the Winter/Spring/Summer when I'm not working I'm actually going to star working on my writing. I've had a few ideas in my head know for awhile and wel it's finally time I do something with them.

In the meantime before I start classes for writing I'm going to read a few books suggested to me by my close friend Chris55 and also by a friend on TK (MechaJimmyD) whom is actually a published author.

When the time comes hopefully around Febuary or so I'll be sharing my writing with you guys.

Click the link to watch a video in which U.S. president Barack Obama is heckled by those attending a Maryland speech by Obama addressing his health care platform for America: http://www.ajc.com/video?bcpid=1659825399&bclid=1716449804&bctid=40796673001

You'll notice in the video that a man wearing a cap, who remains standing and quite vigorously voicing his disdain for Obama is quickly hustled away by the arena's security members...as if this guy was a real threat to anyone. Nono

Like with other U.S. presidents anyone who voices a dissenting opinion at these rallies is removed by security.

I hope Barack Obama remembers these boos and catcalls. He's going to get more of it. Currently 46% of Americans are satisfied with the overall health care system in the United States. That's nearly half of all Americans. Despite this statistic, and not surprisingly, the Democrats, led by our determined president, are attempting to force an overhaul(including a government option) of our health care system down the throats of American citizens...a plan that will cost the American taxpayers around $785 billion dollars over the next ten years.

If Barack Obama manages to secure a second term as U.S. president I fear America will be permanently ruined, financially, by this arrogant, elitist buffoon and his cadre of supporters and cabinet members, including Senator Nancy Pelosi, a woman who never met a supposition or presumption about Americans she didn't like, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who always looks like a deer in the headlights on shows like "Face The Nation" and "Larry King".

My problem with Obama so far is that all he's done so far is spend spend spend. First there was the bailout, which I disagreed with. And now we have the healthcare reform. Now maybe our healthcare system is problematic, but I have yet to understand exactly how Obama's plan will improve it.

Well I'm glad to see I'm not the only conservative left in the world. I don't usually get involved in political discussions because they only boil the blood and you really can't change someone's opinion.

The thing that has scared me the most since Obama has become president is that he is the first president I've ever seen on a t-shirt that idolizes him. The only other place you see the president's (ruler's) face everywhere is in a dictatorship. That scares me quite a bit.

As for the health care issue, the main issues are rationing and frivolous lawsuits. Unfortunately the current legislation does not address the later. Even though we are promised it won't, it will lead to rationing. I would much rather ration my own health care then letting the government do it.

Unfortunately with a democrat congress, he will get just about anything passed that he wants. However, I'm glad they have finally stopped blindly passing what he wants. He wanted this health care bill to be passed before the recess, before the the representatives could go back to their states and get feedback on what they were doing. What was the deal with that?
Well enough with this rant. Can't get too worked up this early in the day.

Want proof that the economic stimulus package pushed by President Barack Obama and pushed by a majority Democratic Congress isn't working? Click the link: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091106/ap_on_bi_go_ec_fi/us_economy
