I wanted this to be it's own separate thing due to the subject matter: here is the full Magnum Opus of Ko Otani's G3...

The Gamera 3 score is good. Better than the score for Gamera 2. But I think it doesn't beat the score for Gamera: GOTU.

^I disagree with that... The chanting and strings with G3 makes it the best score other than the GMK score, which introduces into Otani's resume synth usage...

Synth is cool, but I'm more of a fan of a strong orchestral score. And GOTU was better on the orchestral side than the two sequels and GMK. Not that I don't like those other scores. I just think they're inferior.

I liked it. It worked really well. I did like the score quite a bit. I just thought that it was too ambient and it utilized electronics too much. The scene where Gamera shows up and fights Gyaos in the city wasn't quite as good as it could have been because the electronics sounded a bit cheap. And in the final scene where Gamera kills Irys. These are scenes where the movie suffered because of a lack of a strong orchestral backing. The score felt too small for the action.

But in the first film they didn't over-use the electronics and it had a much more epic feel. A real instrument almost always goes better with the action. That's what hurts a lot of TV shows. The scores are always so electronic and low-budget sounding. It doesn't always match the scale of what's happening on-screen.

That's how I see it anyway. I do like the score. I just think it could have been a bit better. And I'm a bit biased because I've always preferred the Star Wars-like massive orchestral ensemble stuff.
