Where should I begin with this show. It was one of the first shows I ever saw.
It was funny, and I was only three, The show is a adult/teen cartoon prohibited by Fox ( I find it odd to this day how the show discriminates there prohibiter greatly).
The main characters are the simpsons, thats easy.
Homer,Marge,Lisa,Bart,Maggie. couple pets, Snowball II and Santa's little helper, odd names for pets.

Many supporting characters, here's some from the top of my head.
Moe,Comic Book Guy,Dr.Nick,Smithers,Dr.Hibert,Mr.Burns,Sideshow Bob,Krusty the Clown,Fat Tony,Kang,Kodo's,Grandpa,Princible Skinner,Flanders,Barney,Lenny,Carl, ETC.

So go on and Post How you got into the show, like or hate, Or laughed your head off momments.
Those Godzilla and Ultraman fans, there are a few cameos of them.
After the simpsons come home from Japan, there ship is attacked by Godzilla and mothra, Gamera I beleive was there too.
Lisa is exiled to Monster island in another episode, the people sending here there said "Oh don't worry, It's nothing like it's name" meanwhile she is being chased by gamera, rodan and mothra! The guy next to here running says, it;s actually a penninsula.
Last but not least, in a simpsons couch gag, season 15, homer appears as ultraman! big grin

I have watched the Simpsons on and off for years. I believe I was about 10 years old when the series premiered and I still remember every kid in my class wearing Bart Simpson t-shirts. The school even wanted to ban the shirts from campus. Over the years I think the show has transitioned a bit, and while most of the early episodes revolved mostly around Bart, I think in later seasons alot more of the focus is on Homer now.

I was given a box set of one of the seasons of the Simpsons upon my exit from the United States to the war in Iraq. I can say that it was a great diversion to watch those episodes overseas while dealing with the war.

Yes the series was all about Bart for awhile, especially the first season. But eventualy Homer was the main character by the seventh season.

It must have been a great diversion in the war. What season was it? heyo

I believe it was the 4th season. At the time I went back in 2004, I think it was the newest one available. Since then I've bought a couple other seasons of the show, but unfortunately can't afford to buy all the ones that have been released. I'm sure that by now most of the seasons have been released.

The Simpsons ran for twenty seasons? shokked

That must be some kind of record for TV series longevity.

Doesnt hold any records on this list, but I'm guessing it probably is the longest running animation show in the U.S.

That is correct, it is the longest running animated TV show by far!

It's #5 in the longest running telivision shows, the simpsons has about 441 episodes as of right now. big grin

It is the longest running primetime show, I think is the record, it just beat Gunsmoke for something.

Season 12 is being relased August 18th

How they continue to keep coming up with fresh material after all these years is beyond me...but somehow they do it and the show is still good. I just watched a couple new episodes on tv the other day and it was still quite funny.
