This thread is for discussing a topic has been left surprisingly untouched: The Scientific Plausibilty of Kaiju. Let me just start the discussion off by saying that I think that the most plausible Kaiju ever is Kiryu, because a lot of effort was put into explaining why he was like he was, whit the skeleton thing to help explain why a robot would be built in Godzill's exact shape (The previous two Mechagodzillas failed to explain this). |

Scientific plausibility of kaiju: giant beings once walked the Earth, and they may come back some way. We have not explored everything on Earth yet, and plus you got extra terrestrial incidents and religious phenoms so out of all of this kaiju could exist. They are just very rare and are most probably different than what we would think. Me, I don't believe kaiju can exist unless it was a mechanical leviathan Edited by G2Kmaster, Jul 6 2009, 10:22 PM.

This topic thread may not go very far because it doesn't seem very plausible to me that a kaiju like Godzilla, at fifty meters tall and 25,000-30,000 tons, could exist. The reason: the skeletal structure of such a gigantic creature would be unable to support the weight of the creature itself. Imagine for a moment a WWII heavy cruiser, fully loaded, has a displacement of around 30,000-35,000 tons. A larger vessel, a WWII battleship, is even heavier, at well over 50,000 tons fully loaded. Now imagine walking about on two legs carrying that kind of weight around. I have a hard time believing that the muscular and skeletal structure of a creature would be strong enough for this kind of tonnage.

I considered that possibility. I'm no expert, obviously. Hopefully this topic thread will generate some interesting posts, if nothing else. The topic itself is certainly interesting. ![]() |

I would breifly point out that I never said Kaiju were plausible, quite the contrary, I think you are more likely to find a magical, talking racoon that farts pixie dust then Godzilla. This topic isn't about which are plausible, it's about how plausible, or otherwise, that they are. |

I would think they're not plausible. ![]() Anyone care to try and blast this statement out of the water?
