Awesome but, there goes my chance to write and direct the reboot. I just hope they don't screw it up. I think I had a great idea for how it should be done, and I don't think they can top it.

Great news! I will absolutely be monitoring the web for more on this news as it develops. Hopefully this Godzilla "reboot" will be helmed by a quality director.

Thanks for the info Avery! thumbz up

I certainly hope Legendary Pictures does NOT decide to go with the GINO design from the '98 G film in their reboot. If they did that IMO would seriously jeopardize the chances of this film being popular and turning a good box office profit.

I do not think this is that good of news. This could have been a rumor, so someone from the company just pranking us. I hope that it doesn't come to pass. Though since this seems legit enough, I am going to contact Legendary Pictures and give them a piece of my mind. Plus, not to mention some other people...

I take it you're not enamored with this news. Will you be calling Legendary Pictures' corporate office or emailing them?

No I am not. I am not happy hearing this news. While they have a great resume including four very famous films, Legendary pictures is no better than Columbia/Tristar. If they make the right choices with everything, then it should be interesting. Though honestly, I am not holding my breath about this. And I usualy hold my breath for alot more stuff than normal.

Plus I will be mailing them. Also, I do not need to talk to anyone else since the people who I would have talked too will just tell me what Armand Vaquer said on this blog, "I spoke with Toho and their comment is, "No comment!" They are exploring a number of possibilities and cannot comment at this time. You can read into that as you will."

I'm just wondering, how the heck did Legendary Pictures get Toho to sign off on this? What did they do to convince Toho to let an American company make another Godzilla movie?

In light of this recent news, I was thinking about sending Legendary Pictures a copy of the outline for my Godzilla story. I doubt they'd even read it, but I looked up some contact info anyway. I couldn't find an e-mail or a phone number, but I did find an address on their official site.

Well "Toho" is a huge business into making a profit and "Legendary Pictures" I'm sure has the funds to convince. Plus I'm sure "L.P." have done their homework and feel this is a bankable franchise.

Oh, I think it's a HUGELY bankable franchise. I just thought that Toho's reputation for being ultra-protective of Godzilla makes this... unexpected.

Armand Vaquer a fellow writer for "RoboJapan" has been in contact with "Toho" who had this to say:

Interesting huh?

Now tell me; if there's not something going on then wouldn't "Toho" just squash that rumor??

Evan trust me if this comes to fruitation you have nothing to worry about. Browse TK and look over the thread there.

There should be information about the new movie that you'll be most delighted to see.

Or better yet come google TAF and join that forum and you'll see a thread with info about the new movie if it comes to pass.

Well if the film is not a rumor and is going to be made, I hope they stick more closely to the original look and spirit of Godzilla, instead of just changing his look and spirit completely like the 1998 remake. noddy

Also I think it would be good if they mix up CGI with Suit's and Miniatures, since using only CGI can make it look a bit cartoony IMO. winky

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that doing this, and the resulting oxygen deprivation, isn't good for you.

Better to get it from the horse's mouth, as I always say...the "horse" in this case being Armand Vaquer. I wonder if Keith Aiken has contacted anyone at Toho to confirm this announcement.

No doubt this news will inevitably trigger a lot of discussion, which is good. It will also, I think, initiate a lot of wild speculation and unfounded rumors, much like the "Cloverfield" film did...which I believe is not good.

The almighty dollar...and likely a huge amount of it. tongue-1
