Yep apparently it's so:

Here's both "Undead Backbrain" and "RoboJapan"s articles on the news with a look back at the other film versions:

Plus as a fun retrospective; here's the trailers for each film:

"THE BLOB"[1958]:

"BEWARE THE BLOB" [a.k.a. "SON OF BLOB"] [1972]:

Also; here the director confirms it:

I'm not looking forward to it since I personally don't like Rob's style of filming. topper

Also I recommend two things for him: Don't remake good movies and watch the 1988 remake of The Blob he doesn't remember the 1988. winky

Matthew, perhaps you should wait until you've watched Zombie's 'blob" film before passing judgment.

I understand your disdain: Rob Zombie is "an acquired taste", I think, like other directors like Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, even Tobe Hooper and Quentin Tarantino. Some people like his "style" and others don't.

All I'm saying is it might be a better idea to wait and at least watch Zombie's "blob" movie rather than just assuming it will be like his other movies. winky

Your right here Packmule, but directors don't change their style often and I still have the feeling Rob is going to have weak characters who only swear their heads off and other stuff like that, still I will watch the film once it's out on DVD. winky

Personally I would prefer Gregg Wright to direct a remake of The Blob since I like his style. Mr. Smiles

I have edited the topic title to include the discussion of all of Rob Zombie's films. I believe his works merit a topic thread.

I recently watched The Devil's Rejects(2005) on IFC(Independent Film Channel). This has always been a favorite film of mine helmed by the musician-director. Sid Haig was particularly impressive as the occasional clown faced "Captain Spaulding", a cocaine and marijuana addicted lunatic with a seriously disturbed sense of humor.

I can't really decide about Rob Zombie. He's certainly a autuer with a singular style and he makes the films he wants to make. I respect him for that, but I have problems sometimes-he doesn't seem to bother much with suspense and his characters just seem to constantly say f*** all the time! He's also often prone to that really fast, epileptic editing in scenes of violence or action so you can't see what's going on!

House Of 1000 Corpses-the direction was a bit in your face for me,but I generally liked it,grim, grisly and downbeat!

The Devil's Rejects-his best film imo, grim butreally compelling and with just the right amount of humour

Halloween-really didn't like this,a travesty of a horror classic imo,and there were so many killings I actually got a little bored

Halloween 2-I actually thought this was a bit better than the first film,a bit wierder [often a good thing in my book!] and more interesting, though I wish Zombie will not remake The Blog and do an original story instead!

As I said,to my mind the jury's out on him.
