Don't know if this is the correct forum area to discuss this in, (if it isn't Pack, please move this to the appropriate area) but I thought it would be a cool subject to discuss. For those that don't know, the new sci-fi TV series, V, started tonight on ABC. And for those that still don't know, this is a remake of the popular 1980's miniseries, "V," and "V: The Final Battle." (which has been airing on SyFy the past couple of days along with "V: The Series") Guys like me and Pack, who are around that age 40 bracket and old enough to remember the original "V" are probably more familiar with it the most on here.

I remember loving V and V: The Final Battle when it aired on NBC back in 1983 and 1984. It was a big deal back then as I think I remember it being hailed as one the best TV miniseries to air back then. (I was only 13-14 at the time) While I have always been a big fan of the original series, i'm also looking forward to the new series recapturing some of the old series magic.
Tonights premiere episode was ok. The new show has promise, and I think it can get better as the series progresses. (and hopefully doesn't fail like the original 1984-85 V TV series did) I read that they'd even like to have some of the characters from the original series appear on the new show in future episodes.

I remember watching many, but not all, of the original "V" series episodes. I had a crush on Jane Badler at that time(in her human form of course tongue-2 ).

The image that was most indelible for me was seeing Jane Badler's character consume the rodent: they showed the shadow outline of her eating the rodent and that sequence absolutely got my attention, you can be sure of that. winky freak out

Click this link to see a great wallpaper of June Badler and co-star June Chadwick from the original TV series "V": http://l.yimg.com/l/tv/us/img/site/80/55/0000058055_20090610100552.jpg

I'm watching the original miniseries as I type this. I figured I should see it before I watch the new one.

I think you'll like it. Like I said, it was a big deal in terms of TV miniseries when it aired at the time. I remember my friends and other kids in school loving it and it getting good reviews. When you watch V, you'll see where Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin got their ideas for Independence Day also.

That scene where Steven ate that mouse then Diana (Jane Badler) ate that guinea pig was one the best sci-fi scenes ever on TV. Everyone in school was talking about it the day after.

Been watching a lot of V lately. Watched the original miniseries, and I'm on the last episode of the Final Conflict. Also watched the pilot episode of the new show. I liked the old show. It's a bit dated at times, but it's very well-done for the time it was made.

I also found the first episode of the new show to be surprisingly enjoyable. It's a very promising pilot. Hopefully the rest of the show lives up to its potential.

Well, it was during the mid 80's. It was actually one the best 80's miniseries during that decade, and very popular. The 1985 TV series wasn't as good as it suffered from budget cuts and it's series creator, Kenneth Johnson, was fired during the early stages of V: The Final Battle. (which makes me think that Final Battle and the TV series could've and would've been better)

So far, the new show has shown promise, and looks like it will get better. (it helps that it's ratings are very good also)

I actually just d/l the two miniseries and put them on DVD-R. (excellent quality BTW) Did you DVR the V Weekend Marathon last weekend on SyFy?

O I remember watching the original V, I had to beg my parents to let me stay up late and watch it. There's one sequence I remember giving me nightmares. I don't recall what exactly was happening, but the aliens kidnapped the female leader [I think] of the resistance and were sort of feeding her nightmares. She imagined she was being chased down lots of tunnels by monsters [maybe big insects? Or maybe you didn't really see them]. I was absolutely terrified and woudn't go upstairs to bed for about an hour!

I'd love to see it again, it's not available in the UK, maybe on import from the US?
