Saw 2012 this weekend. Talk about a movie that will make you think even more about that date. The special effects, as you would expect, were awesome, and the story was ok. Still though, I think this is a date that alot of people are going to be keeping their eye on even more after seeing this movie. |

This is the repeating constant I see in reviews about Roland Emmerich's films...with the exception being 1998's Godzilla. ![]() I've seen the trailers and the special effects do indeed look absolutely marvelous. IT will definitely be a DVD or Blu-Ray purchase when the film gets released to disc next year.

Well, if you like Emmerich's disaster movies, (ID4, Day After Tomorrow, and minus GINO) then you're gonna like 2012. Action from pretty much beginning to end. |

I enjoyed 2012......up to a point. It's possibly the ultimate disaster film and also kind of the ultimate Roland Emmerich film, with all the good and bad points that entails. The CG effects [which I'm not always a fan of in films] were generally stunning and some of the sequences were real edge of seat stuff, but it got ludicrous how many times the main protagonists escaped disasters by the skin of their teeth and I didn't really care about the human stories very much [that was probably down to scripting rather than acting]. Overall very flawed but very entertaining anyway. Funny how I do enjoy most Emmerich films yet absolutely hated Gino. |
