This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

If you haven't heard yet there's a remake/retelling of Piranha coming out called Piranha 3D it's about a tremor that opens a crack filled with Prehistoric Piranha in a lake that's a popular Spring Break Haven.

The latest trailer

Ha Ha. This looks hilarious. Boobs, blood, and killer fish. Don't think this will last too long in the theater but I'm going to try to catch it.

Sadly this is one of the three movies I'm looking forward to this year. The first was The Wolf Man which I felt kind of disappointed by, then I'm also looking forward to Predators and well P3D.

I don't have high hopes for P3D since well it's going to be a typical horror film. If they capture the camp of the first one then I'll be content.

My only gripe is that the Piranha look like a hybrid of a bass and a piranha.

I wish they would have went with this design

Going to try and make it opening night if not then I'll go sometime during the week after it opens.

Wish it wasn't so late in the summer that it opens.

Bump 9 minutes of the film leaked onto the web this was originally to be shown at SDCC last weekend but was deemed to graphic so it was showed behind close doors.

Warning contains nudity and lots of gore.

Looks like Richard Dreyfuss isn't playing an homage character to Matt Hooper he's playing Matt Hooper in the film!

For real? Oh man. I'm definitely watching this now. I'd heard Dreyfuss was only doing it for the money, so he kind of did the movie begrudgingly. But now I still feel like I've got to check it out.

Just got back from the 9pm showing and my only complaint was not really the movies fault but my theater's. The 3D was out of focus or something because none of the 3D worked.

Now on to my thoughts of the movie.

I thought it was great it was just as campy as the original though the original did have it's moments and yes there was a ton of boobs in the film and the gore was there but it must have gotten scaled back because it wasn't as bad as what I'd seen in the leaked comic con footage.

I highly recommend it and yes they leave it open for a sequel, not going to spoil the ending but you've seen it. ;).

Overall it's a fun campy film.

Nope, Miss Shue doesn't show off her assests, it's mainly just random party people that showed their boobs off, there where a few pornstars in the film one is highly publized for being in the movie but the others get random cameos who end up Piranha chow.

On a side note the film is getting a lot of good buzz and is director Alexandre Aja's only film to have a fresh rating at RottenTomatoes.com with it's current 81% rating.

If you enjoy campy late 70s early 80s horror films then you'll enjoy this. Can't wait for the directors cut on Blu-Ray because they had to edit a lot of stuff out.

In all honesty I haven't enjoyed a film at the movies this much since the LotR films.

Yeah this movie has been getting a lot of positive buzz from critics sadly though it ranked in 6th place this weekend and only made $10 million of it's $25 million budget.

As will I tomorrow in fact since it's on sale for $19.99. I think the reason why the 3D version doesn't have the extras as the standard BD is because of space limitations.

Despite not having all the bonus features, I will probably pickup the 3D edition and continue my trend of buying 3D films in anticipation of a 3D TV purchase late this year. I've already picked up the 3D versions of COTT and RE Afterlife since I can still watch the standard BLU versions now.
