MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

If you haven't heard yet there's a remake/retelling of Piranha coming out called Piranha 3D it's about a tremor that opens a crack filled with Prehistoric Piranha in a lake that's a popular Spring Break Haven.

The latest trailer

I think the reason why the 3D version doesn't have the extras as the standard BD is because of space limitations.
heyo

I thought Blu Ray discs had more gig space than regular DVDs. ?
They do but that space goes to HD video and uncompressed audio which eats up a lot of space.

The amount one DVD holds is how large a HD video file is.

Watched the movie and still holds up pretty well.

Josh you mentioned that you've been buying 3D BDs because they contain the standard 2D BD film too, do they have the same special features?

I'm mainly curious about RE: Afterlife.

According to the specs listed on Amazon's site, both versions contain all the same special features, gvamp, though I haven't watched Afterlife yet (my girlfriend hadn't seen the third film yet so we had to watch that one first.) I paid about 4 or 5 dollars more than the standard BD for the 3D version at best buy the week they released.

As for COTT, it's a multi-disc package that includes basically everything, a 3D version, Blu-version, standard DVD, digital copy, and all bonus features. I got it as a gift so I'm unsure of the price difference.

I'm only concerned with Afterlife, Clash of the Titans has crappy 3D from my understanding.

Also for anyone who might have missed my post in the DVD section I'd hold off on buying this on BD or 3D BD right now because chances are we'll get a Directors cut when Piranha 3-DD comes out in September.

I noticed several scences missing after checking out the Trailers and TV Spots on the standard BD that wheren't in the deleted scenes or in the actual film. Which leads me to believe there's going to be a directors cut.

I may hold off on it and just watch it from netflix.

I finally got around to watching Piranha(2010) on DVD earlier this evening. I don't think I've seen so many "t & a" camera shots in a movie, well...ever. tongue-1

Marvelous special effects used to render the piranha and the gore looked very realistic. Elisabeth Shue remains a favorite hottie of Packmule. Her assets looked good as well. tongue-2

Looking forward to the sequel...which was set up very well by the ending of this film. winky

When you go Blu-Ray Lee you should defiently upgrade Piranha 3D to that format. As for the sequel I don't think it's going to have much to do with the previous movie based on what I've read about it in fact I'm not really looking forward to the sequel at all.

No problem Lee I wasn't the biggest fan of the sequel because I didn't like the fact that it took place in a water park and not really a big fan of the director's work (he did the Feast Trilogy) but the latest trailer has me excited.

Just got done watching Piranha 3DD on VOD since I knew my local theaters wouldn't be playing it.

The film was pretty good not as good as the first but still decent.
