Long time actor Larry Hagman has passed away. He was 81. Hagman, suffering complications while battling cancer, died peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by friends and family.

Larry Hagman's initial success as a TV actor was his portrayal of U.S. Air Force Captain Tony Nelson in the comedy series I Dream Of Jeannie(1965-1970). Larry Hagman would later gain much more fame and notoreity for playing the villainous Texas oil baron "J.R. Ewing" in the CBS drama Dallas(1978-1991). In real life Hagman was the exact opposite of his "Dallas" TV character, recalled by friends and family as a loving, caring and unselfish man who spent a great deal of time doing charitable work when off camera.

For more on the life and career of this movie and TV actor click the link: http://news.msn.com/pop-culture/actor-larry-hagman-tvs-jr-ewing-of-dallas-dies

I have always loved this man's work on TV. He will be greatly missed. sadlyicon

Annette Funicello, long time actress and singer for Walt Disney and an original member of Disney's "Mickey Mouse Club", has passed away. She was 70. The actress and singer, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis back in 1992, died from complications of the disease. Her family said she had been unable to speak or move much in recent years due to MS.

Annette Funicello became a member of the "Mickey Mouse Club", a Walt Disney creation and TV show, in 1958. The actress quickly endeared herself to TV audiences with her wholesome good looks and bubbly personality. Annette Funicello is the only member of the club who remained under contract with Walt Disney after the "Mickey Mouse Club" show was cancelled and she was cast in numerous '60s films alongside friend and co-star Frankie Avalon, the two appearing in lighthearted, comedic movies like Bikini Beach and Beach Blanket Bingo. Here's more on the career and life of Annette Funicello: http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/21909945/mickey-mouse-club-star-annette-funicello-dies-at-age-70

Such a beautiful and vivacious woman who will be greatly missed. sadlyicon

Ray Harryhausen, who created and perfected the "stop motion" special optical effects in many sci-fi and fantasy films, has passed away. He was 92. For more on the life and career of a man I personally consider nothing short of a genius at his trade click the link: http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/05/07/ray-harryhausen-dead/

I grew up watching films that featured the stop motion effects created by Ray Harryhausen and I still enjoy watching them now as much as I did when I was a kid.

He will be greatly missed. sadlyicon

I was really bummed out to hear this. I was just talking to someone last weekend about how the Medusa scene from Clash of the Titans was my favorite film scene as a kid and praising Harryhausen's work. He was definitely the master of stop-motion and will indeed be missed. sadlyicon

Long actor and ex police detective Dennis Farina has passed away. He was 69. Farina's death was confirmed today, the actor succumbing to a blood clot in his lung.

Dennis Farina's most recent TV character was "Joe Fontana" on the long running series "Law And Order". My favorite role by this actor was Mike Torello, a tough guy police detective in the '80's, Michael Mann produced crime drama TV series Crime Story. This series was set in early 1960's Chicago and moved to Las Vegas for its second(and final season). Crime Story aired on NBC from 1986-1988.

Television and movie actress Karen Black has died. She was 74. Her passing was announced earlier today on social media websites. She died after a long battle with cancer: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/karen-black-five-easy-pieces-nashville-dies-431637

I haven't seen all of her films but I was always impressed with Karen Black's work in the movies I have seen she worked in including House Of 1000 Corpses, Airport 75, Easy Rider and the made for TV horror movie "Trilogy Of Terror".

A lovely and talented actress who will be greatly missed. sadlyicon

An old class mate from High School died yesterday due to breast cancer. She was only 21, but it managed to creep up on her without warning. I didnt know her very well, but I will attend the funeral Monday afternoon. What little time I spent with her was fun. I do wish I knew her better.

This type of cancer takes too many people from us including your classmate, Shawn. A lovely young lady taken way too soon.

I hope the surviving members of her family can derive some comfort from those friends and acquaintances who will be at the funeral.

Actor James Avery has passes away at 65 years of age.
http://omg.yahoo.com/news/james-avery-dead-65-fresh-prince-bel-air-190000424-us-weekly.html
Best known for playing Uncle Phil on 'The Fresh prince of Bel Air' and The Shredder on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This is indeed very sad news. As the show, while not a favorite was apart of my childhood and I was always fond of his character. A lively and even likeable actor/character. Always a joy to watch and be intimidated by.

He'll be missed for sure.

Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman is dead at age forty six: http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-news/breaking--philip-seymour-hoffman-found-dead-at-46-184225678.html

No official cause of death has been released by police but a drug overdose is one possibility as reported earlier today by the media.

Such a waste. Hoffman was a terrific actor. sadlyicon

Also, long time actor Maximilian Schell also passed away this past week at the age of eighty three.

Actor James Garner, who has appeared in television shows and movies since the 1950's, has passed away at the age of 86: http://news.yahoo.com/report-james-garner-passed-away-071200469.html

I've always had the greatest respect and admiration for this marvelous actor and good guy offscreen.

Among my favorite performances by this actor in movies: Grand Prix(1966), Support Your Local Sheriff!(1969), Up! Periscope(1959) and Space Cowboys(2000).

James Garner also was very successful in television playing private detective Jim Rockford in the '70s TV series "The Rockford Files", which ran from 1974-1980 and card sharp/gunslinger Bret Maverick in the television series "Maverick", which ran from 1957-1962 and then again from 1981-1982.

He will be greatly missed. sadlyicon

Long time comedian and Academy award winning actor Robin Williams is dead from an apparent suicide: http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/08/11/robin-williams-dead-at-63-in-suspected-suicide-officials-say/

I was shocked when I first saw the "breaking news" announcement on CNN about his death.

I've been a fan of Robin Williams since the first movie I watched that he starred in, Mrs Doubtfire(1993). My favorite films featuring this marvelous actor are: Good Will Hunting(1998) and Awakenings(1990).

He will be greatly missed. sadlyicon
