For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Well, I'm hoping for a mild summer up here in Michigan. The heat and humidity can be pretty oppressive.

Imagine my surprise when, during my first day of work at this old woman's house she comes out yelling "Dammit, come here!". Initially I thought she was referring to me-turns out she wasn't of course. The object of her repeated shouts:
her house cat, who she told me she named God Damnit. She also informed me she called her cat "Damnit" for short. The cat did answer to this alleged name...

 That's hilarious! Poor Heiney Butt kind of endures the same, as he is officially named; Noel Ebenezer, but really only responds to, Heiney Butt!

I'm very much hoping for a mild Summer, heat and humidity just suck the life right out of me. All I want to do is sit in an AC cooled room and sip ice water and diet Pepsi. Mr Green

I believe I read somewhere that horses have a digestive system that is very similar to elephants-in both animals their grazings are rapidly digested and come out their back ends very quickly. freak out

I'm very much hoping for a mild Summer, heat and humidity just suck the life right out of me.

I use to relish hot summers as a teenager, and even into my thirties. Now, as I close in on 45 years of age, my love of hot weather has waned. Hot weather still can relax me working outside-I get a sweat going, and I usually drop about 10 lbs of weight every summer, which makes me feel a little better. The drawbacks to the intense heat for me: the heat causes my neck and back to tense up considerably(also due to some dehydration) and I started getting mild cramps in my hamstrings and calves a few years ago. I talked about this with my doc while in his office recently, while addressing my gout problem. His suggestions: continue, during the summer heat, and while working outdoors, to drink a lot of water. Take a few more short breaks, even if I do not "feel" like taking one. He also recomended drinking a little more Gatorade(because of their electrolytes)-I usually drink nothing but water during the summer months, so more Gatorade is in order. He also reminded me, much to my chagrin( tongue-1 ), that I am no longer a 22 year old "Superman"(his words) and that I should work outside the way a man in his mid-forties should: carefully, steadily, and without taking any undue risks.

I get severe lower back pain about once a year (a condition I've chronically had since I was young) so I can relate to your dilemma. However, my pain comes on during the winter months.

This thread is STILL going. We should make it last all the way into Halloween '07! ;)

cheeky sick smiley <------That's how I would look, if I had to be around that for long! Last September, we attended the local county fair and they had tigers and tigons on display and a short program highlighting these amazing animals, under a tent and the smell of cat urine was almost more than I could bear! Thank goodness, the program didn't last much longer than 30 minutes! freak out

I've noticed the past couple of winter's, when the temps drop to very cold temps, my bones seem to ache....something I never really encountered before, but I can actually live with that, the heat and humidity just make me miserable...physcially and my moods tend to show that discomfort a lot more, too!

By the way, Lee....love your avatar! rockin

lol

I am all too familar with that smell. I first smelled it on a pair of Markalite magazine issues that I had placed on the floor of my old apartment back in 2001.
My cat had relieved himself on them both, after chewing to pieces an issue of Oriental Cinema I had sitting next to them. I was able to dry out the "Markalite" issues, though they retained the odor of my cat's leavings for many years afterwards. freak out

My doc warned me to keep my hands and feet warm while working outside during the winter...he informed me that excessively cold hands or feet could also trigger a gout attack. freak out

:<!--emo&lol:-->Posted Image<!--endemo--> I seem to have an over-sensitive nose and I'm constantly asking Carol if she smells cat urine. tongue and cheek I know I drive her nuts, but in all honesty, HB has never marked a spot, as far as I know and I;m sure we'd know it, if he did! Of course, HB doesn't realize he's a cat, either! ;)

Unfortunately, yes. Like every other problem I've encountered, I'm going to meet this one head on. I will not let this condition ruin my life, or any part of my body. I am making the necessary dietary changes as we speak, and I am doing those things I can do to help myself further(drinking more water and fruit juices. If I can limit the gout attacks to 2-3 times a year, and drastically reduce their severity, then I would be satisfied with that. Having a gout attack of moderate severity that lasts for a month is unacceptable to me, and I will do whatever I need to do to avoid this again.

You certainly have a positive attitude and I think that can be half the battle, right there. Making dietary changes is never easy, but you're meeting that head on and I think you'll be better off, because of your efforts. Good Luck! :)

I went with Skeet on 22 or 23 December of '98 and picked him up as a surprise for Carol and given the time of year, she gave him a definite holiday themed name. I'm still not sure how I christened him, 'Heiney Butt', but he definitely behaves like one and it is funny to call him and he comes a running. Mr Green

Well, at least your cat wasn't named after a profanity, like the one owned by that crazy old woman I did yard work for as a 14 year old. tongue-1

You know, I love my fruit and veggies enough that I often think I could become a vegetarian, but then, I also love a good steak, burger and pork chops as well as many variations of fish/seafood and that would be tough to give up, completely! freak out

I just have moments were I do call him rather vulgar and profane names.
I've had a few of those "moments" as well with my cat, "The Hammer".

Among them:

-the night my cat managed to pull down, in the early AM hours, my Christmas tree-the resulting loud crash sent me tearing into the livingroom expecting to encounter a burglar.

-after I came home and found issues of my Markalite magazines pissed on, and one issue of Oriental Cinema chewed to pieces. freak out

-after escaping my apartment. I had to spend nearly an hour chasing him from one apartment building to the next, much to my chagrin, and the amusement of a horde of kids near the complex swimming pool very angry

-after buying my cat a brand new "bed" from a pet store, "The Hammer" promptly pissed in it-$10 out the window. thumbs down

-after coming home from work to find several DVD covers gnawed on nonono

-the frequent overpowering stink of his turds in his kitty litter, despite my investments in various, supposedly odor minimizing litter fillers for my cat's litter box freak out

Despite all these aggravations I still love my cat. I'd have to, to put up with these things. faster <!--emo&shifty eyes-->Posted Image<!--endemo-->
