For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Such as?

Well, I should say to many viewers, but it seems many of us, here, kind of enjoy a lot of the same films, be they considered classic or not. Mr Green A few non-classic choices of mine would be:

-The Terrornauts-More along the sci-fi vein and definitely not classically good, but tons of fun! :)

-I Drink Your Blood-Another film that may stink up the house, but it's fun in a very off-the-wall way.

-The Deadly Bees-The Amicus effort shunned by most, but enjoyed by me. ;)

-The Giant Claw-We've discussed this in the past and I think a few of us enjoy this one.

-The Lost Continent-The first Hammer film I ever saw and still a favorite!

-Bride of the Monster/Plan 9 From Outer Space-Great Ed Wood double feature!

-Robot Monster-Oh yeah, this is so bad, I really love it!

-Carnosaur-Yes, I believe this film beat Jurassic Park to theatres and it is absolutely horrid, but I still watch it!

-Night of the Lepus-Perhaps an embarrassment to those that starred in this, but they should be pleased to know, I erally love it.

-The Eye Creatures-A remake of, Invasion of the Saucer Men and probably one film that never should have been made, but again, I always watch this during the Halloween season and enjoy every minute of it.

There is just ten examples of some of my October viewing, much more that would probably bore some to tears, but I enjoy 'em! ;)

I just broke out my Halloween decorations yesterday.  I always do it on October 1st.  It's a personal tradition of mine.

Planning on visiting any "haunted houses" Dan? There's a couple here in Atlanta that I have heard are really good, as far as effects and costumed characters. I have seen images of the some of the ghouls/monsters in the newspaper ad-they look on par with what you would see in a horror movie nowadays...or better. thumbs up

Yeah, there are some good haunted houses here too. Terror Town and Trilogy of Terror come immediately to mind. There's a fun haunted hayride about 30 mins north of me. I love that kind of stuff. I'd like to go to a few Halloween parties too. I just don't know what to dress as. Wish I still had my old Batman costume....

You could go as Michael Myers-your outfit would be simple. Just the mask. Other possiblities: Superman( tongue-1 ), or a grotesque looking zombie. eyebrow

I love haunted hayrides! They are fun, at times quite creepy and you get doughnuts and cider or hot chocolate at the end, what's not to love? ;)

We need to keep this thread going all the way up to October 31st. Report on anything Halloween-related you see (a movie, decorations, songs, etc). Let's all get into the spirit and keep it going! :D

Was out and about for several hours, yesterday and it's great fun to see all the various Halloween decorations out, not only in stores, but people seem to decorate the outside of their homes a lot more, too! thumbs up

Carol and I picked up something we haven't seen before, a Halloween CD from Mannheim Steamroller. I love their Christmas CDs and we decided to give this CD a try. Haven't had an opportunity to listen to it, yet, but we will.

My October film fest is in full stride and while the weekend started out with several films each day, because of a visting Aunt and my opportunity to meet her for breakfast one morning and lunch, yesterday, that cut into my horror viewing, but this is what I've watched so far in October:

01 October
001) The Abominable Dr Phibes
002) Dr Phibes Rises Again
003) Fall of the House of Usher
004) The Pit and the Pendulum
005) The Last Man On Earth

02 October
006) The Fly
007) Return of the Fly
008) Theatre of Blood
009) Witchfinder General
010) From A Whisper To A Scream

03 October
011) 3 Extremes
012) 3 Extremes II
013) 13 Ghosts
014) 28 Days Later
015) 20 Million Miles To Earth

04 October
016) Alligator
017) Alligator People
018) Lake Placid

I was going with a kind of theme to each day, nothing set in stone nor planned in advance, but as I watched one film, I decided to watch another along the same vein, except for 03 October, for some reason I decided to go with 'numbered' film titles. Mr Green

 I don't know why, but at the start of this month, I've kind of gone on a theme day for my viewing, it may or may not last....today was a werewolf kind of day.

Lee, the new color scheme looks very neat! thumbs up

I also love your personal photo and the wolf photo near your signature. Guess I'll do something different with my avatar/personal photo to keep in the spirit of the season. Mr Green

Well, I changed the "default" skin from Invisionfree blue(basic) to another blue-tinged skin. I'm not going to remove the skin-changer, unless an improved version come along. I prefer using the "Dark Skyline" skin, as I like the way the forum banner seems to blend well with the black and neon blue colors of this particular skin.

As for sigs and avatars, I will keep to classic Universal horror themes this month, so look for the Universal classic monsters to appear, as well as some Hammer horror characters. Hopefully by this time next year I will have Adobe Photo Shop or something comparable and can make some of the Halloween decorations around the site a little more noticeable. faster <!--emo&shifty eyes-->Posted Image<!--endemo-->

Nice job on the site's decorations, Lee!

Thanks Dan, and thanks for the new forum banner featuring Nosferatu. Very appropriate for the season I think. I should have Adobe Photo Shop or something comparable to aid in my decorative abilities next year. I may(or may not) be able to add a little more "Halloween" touch to this site...stay tuned. nod

Making the banner was a lot of fun. I love Nosferatu and Count Orlock is easily my favorite vampire of them all.

What kind of Halloween decorations are you going to display this year Kimi? And I'm assuming there will be no large, black rubber spiders...? vampire

Your assumption regarding large black spiders of any kind, not being on display, would be correct! ;)

I have glow-in-the-dark bat decals on the windows, a 'dripping blood' greeting on the front windows, a candle in the shape of an eyeball being held by a skeletal hand and some other odds and ends. We will carve some jack-o-lanterns out as we get a little closer to Halloween and I do have some horror relatde items that are on display year round...mainly a Karloff as the Creature and Lugosi as Dracula cardboard standees thatw ere used in a video rental store some years back....Carol's brother John knows what a huge horror fan I am, so he asked the store if he could have them and they gave them to him and he shipped them to me. I have each one hanging off a door. If I knew how to do thumbnail images, so as to not take up a ton of space on the baord, I'd share some photos of my goodies.

I have been told by my landlord Mrs. C that I may get some "trick-or-treaters", as news of my move into her furnished basement has spread around the block on our street. There are many children on this street, so I suppose I'd better get a plastic jackolantern, fill it with candy, and have it at the ready for the "younguns" around here. Sorry for the redneck-speak. Ever since watching The Legend Of Boggy Creek last night on DVD it seems my Southern roots, and occasional slang dialect, have taken over the front lobe of my brain. Hopefully I won't be using words like "ya'll", "I reckon", or "brung", "extry", or "sody", despite currently being in a hillbilly state of mind right now. tongue-1

That cracked me up, Lee. I know we need to lay in a bit more candy for the kids that are sure to be around, this year. If we don't turn our porch light on, kids aren't supposed to stop, so it could be that simple to avoid the entire evening, but we quite enjoy it and it's great fun seeing kids all dressed up.

Me and my crew went by the boss's house today to do a full maintenance work-up on his house-mowing his turf, blowing off the leaves, lots of pruning and some limbs/small dead trees to remove. I noticed that "Ed" already had his decorations up, among them a pair of black, fuzzy spiders about 4' in diameter-I have to admit they looked creepy, even though they were not real...and thank God for that. :ph43r:

Seeing those large, fake spiders made me think..."This is one decoration Kimi would hate" tongue-1

We also passed a mansion-style house that had, among the fake webbing and giant inflatable spiders, more inflatable characters on display, including:

Scooby Doo
Shrek
Mickey Mouse
Donald Duck
Snoopy

My Aunt lives in Michigan and E-mailed me the other day, said they were calling for 3-6 inches of snow, but never heard from her if they received it. We had a hard frost, this morning, looks like cooler temps may be here to stay...Yippee! Mr Green

Much cooler temps are beginning to set in here in Atlanta as well. I like the cooler temps, however my knees tend to stiffen up when it gets cool, and also in cold weather. It's a combo of mild arthritis and the cumulative effects of sports in high school(football and baseball), outdoor basketball leagues until about 1995 plus on and off running/jogging, all of which =often achy knees in the fall and winter. My backpack that I take to work is a veritable pharmacy of pills and other medications. cheeky sick smiley

I hear you on thise aches and pains, Lee. :( I have arthritis in my shoulders, hips, just slightly in my knees and fingers/hands and I ache all the time, but do notice the cooler temps can bring a lot more stiffness to my body. I think in addition to my illnesses, my years of hard work at the plant added to my aches/pains. I had carpal tunnel surgery in both hands and because I worked there another 12 years following the surgery, it kind of laid claim to me once again, but you know, in spite of the aches/pains, I'll still take cool temps any day of the week! Mr Green Sometimes I wonder if I'm a masachist, but I'd rather be a chilled one, than a hot one! ;)
