MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

My bet is Lowe's employs people to do this work also-bear in mind that they are probably independent contractors, and not actual Lowe's(or Home Depot) employees.

Thanks for the info, Lee. :) Dad E-mailed me and said he hadn't received the inspector's report, yet, but once he gets the report, he can make a better choice on what direction he'll go in.

Temps down here have been holding steady around 90 degrees all this past week, and will be there again all of this week. The next holiday on our schedule is now Labor Day, in September.

You have the same routine at Labor Day, Kimi-cookout with friends? heyo

The past three years, we've been in Canada on Labor Day. We leave on Saturday and spend the week, so that's been our routine the past few years and should be, this year, too. :)

When I was still able to work, we actually worked many Labor Day holidays....well, my department did, anway. If we weren't in Canada during the holiday, I'd probably not even realize it was a holiday.

I'm not really much on taking holidays off from work, with the exception of Thanksgiving, Christmas and July 4th, during which I am usually at someone's house participating in a dinner, party or other kind of social outing. The rest of the holidays I am usually bored and challenged to find enough to do to occupy myself the entire day. shifty eyes

Thanksgiving and Christmas are my biggies, so I'd always save the majority of my vacation time for those two holidays. I'd take the day before Thanksgiving and the day after....if we used a vacation day on a Friday, we didn't have to work the weekend and in my neck of the woods, deer season begins the Monday following Thanksgiving, so that's a paid holiday, so I'd get Wednesday through Monday off and use just two vacation days. Then, depending on what day of the week Christmas fell on, I'd use a lot of vacation time, so I had a few days off before Christmas and then wouldn't go back until 02 January.

Well, we'll be in Canada, so if I'm not sitting in a boat on the lake, I'll probably be entertaining my niece, Olivia and hoping to grill some yummy steaks for us, too. How about you? Do you use that day to relax or catch up on things you can't normally do, because of work?

In the AM: doing a bit of laundry and house cleaning.

In the afternoon and evening hours I'll be at Gloria's house for a quiet(I hope tongue-1 ) dinner.

To be honest, Kimi, Halloween is still, for me, my favorite time of the year, because of all the great horror movies that are on television, including AMC's "Monsterfest". thumbs up

Thread drift: one of the channels in my new cable service is Retroplex, a channel started up by Starz. Like TCM this channel shows films uncut, in widescreen(the film's OAR), and I also read that this channel will show movies from the 1950's, 60's, and 70's, it's target audience baby boomers. Last night I watched A Fistful Of Dollars(1964) in letterbox and no commercials. dancing admin

I love Halloween, too, just that time of the year seems very refreshing and I love the classic horror films that we see on TV, during the month.

Wow! That channel sounds awesome. I'll have to ask Skeet if that's part of his package deal. thumbs up

It's almost October...time to resurrect this 1 year old thread, don't you think? I'm actually in the Halloween spirit this year. Last year, it was missing but now it's back. Jenny and I have the house decked out with Halloween decorations and as I type this A Nightmare Before Christmas is on TV.

Trick or Treat, everyone! franky

Indeed. I recall you lamenting that you were not in "Halloween" kind of mood last October at all. Perhaps this year a trip to a "Haunted house" is in order.
I have posted AMC's Monsterfest programming line up for this October. To me it doesn't impress. There are no Hammer and Universal classic horror films and not even one kaiju film. There are too many repetitive showings of the same films. Tom Van Slambrouck, aka "gvamp", was right when he said, at the ATARI Godzilla forums, that AMC has gone to hell. <_<

Any ideas on a halloween banner Dan? Nosferatu was cool looking last year but the colors of that banner may not look good with the charcoal currently in place. I'll ponder a Halloween banner. If you come up with anything let me know. :)

A blend of black and orange or black/orange/brown would be great. Or even a rust-orange color like the current banner. Whatever you make, Dan, will be fine. Thanks. :)

Thread drift: Dan, is Sparkie still posting at PX? I ask because I sent him an email about some VHS tapes I wanted to send him in the mail but he never replied back to me. confused

Actually Dan I haven't seen Clark very much at the CHFB either, though I do see his posts there every now and then.

Topic: I have already seen pumpkin vendors up and about around town, their racks stocked with pumpkins, some of them humongous in size. I'll be in a Halloween frame of mind this year as always, despite what I believe is another poor programming lineup of movies by AMC for "Monsterfest".

Well, this year I've got Comcast digital cable. That means more channels and more opportunities to catch some monster movies. Hopefully FearNet on Demand will have something good aside from the normal crap they offer.

And yeah, there are a lot of pumpkins available to buy. I think the Fall season started officially for me when Jenny and I went to one of our local Cider Mills a couple of weekends ago. The weather was perfect that day and the cider and donuts were delicious, as always.

Also, I got the new "Fear Finder" directory. It's a free publication that's usually available at bars and restaurants and gives listings and ads for all the Halloween events going on in the area. I'd really like to at least go to a Haunted Hayride this year. I don't know why but I enjoy that kind of stuff.

Nice to see the Halloween excitement is back for you, Dan. Mr Green Living in a house, now, I'm REALLY looking forward to the holidays, this year. jumping smiley I have put out some Autumn decorations and probably will change to some Halloween decoations, this weekend.

I sure wish my cable company would offer, 'Monsters HD', but don't see that happening any time soon.

They ferment cider these days, Dan? I ask because I once imbibed of a considerable amount of cider at a private party and felt a little drunk later.

You probably drank Woodchuck's brand hard cider. I haven't had that stuff in years but it's pretty good.

By the way, I'm going to temporarily change the name of this thread to "The official Halloween Thread". Hope you don't mind, Lee.

Whee, Halloween! I'm s'posed to go to a party. Dress up as something and stuff.

Have no costume, though. It's probably going to be a makeshift Grim Reaper. I WOULD like to go as Ultraman, but that's just for my childish dreams. :p

Sounds like a plan. Have you ever made a costume, or do you just buy a mask and some makeup effects? heyo

Well, I usually have some willing help with a cool cape/cloak thing, but the mask is fresh from the store.

My favorite costume was two years ago. Jack o' the Lantern. Pumpkin heads kick posterior, because they protect you when you fall with their pumpkiny goodness!
