For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Speaking of Halloween costumes, I saw an unusual one a few years ago at a rather wild private party I went to at a friend's apartment. There was a guy at this party wearing a large box with holes cut out in it for his arms, legs and head. A crude logo of a cereal brand was on the front of the box with a large red line drawn diagonally through it. Asked what he was supposed to be, the guy answered: a "cereal killer".

Last year, Carol went to work as a 'Zombie Dr'......quite a neat outfit, too! When I was in high school, we had a Halloween dance one year and there was some great costumes.....two of my friends got together and they went as an oral and anal thermometer. :D Halloween is not going to be quite as much fun, this year, because where we are living, now, they have Trick-or-Treat in the afternoon! very angry shocked smiley

I've seen some funny costumes over the years but I've never heard of a person(or persons in this case) doing this.

Why? Is it safety concerns over the kids being out at night? heyo

Unfortunately, yes, Lee. I wasn't aware of this, but way back when I was just a kid, some older people in the town were handing out treats when young adults or older teens pushed their way into the homes. My grandparents were even targeted....I never was aware of this, until just recently, when Dad told me. I guess since way back in the early to mid-70s, Wyalusing changde their T-o-T policy and it's now done in the afternoon, as a safetly precaution to both young and old, alike.

This year I think I have to work on Halloween, but I will be making up for it by dressing up and going to a Halloween party this Saturday....as a giant banana. It doesn't sound too exciting, but it is fun and I get lots of compliments on it. I wore it last year and people loved it. I'll be sure to post pics after the event...hopefully I won't be too inebriated when the pictures are taken.

This will be my first, and only post, regarding AMC's programming lineup for their 2007 "Monsterfest". With the exception of several title broadcast premieres, AMC's lineup of movies is, once again, an old and tired rehash of movies they've shown redundantly for the last 4-5 years. There is not one Hammer horror film, not one classic Universal horror film, nor is there a single kaiju film anywhere in their lineup. Watching an advertisement on television last night on AMC for Monsterfest it appears AMC, which stands for American Movie Classics, has changed their graphics in an attempt to look more modern, perhaps more contemporary. Bah.

AMC can make all the changes, graphics wise, that they want. None of this will ever change the fact they show the vast majority of their movies cropped, in full frame format, and with frequent commercial interruptions. thumbs down

It probably wouldn't surprise you, 3000, to know that you're not the only one here who has commented similarly about this topic thread. I have considered locking it many times but it's always acquired new posting activity before I could get around to locking it. cross-eyed

I'm curious as to whether anyone is suffering from HPTSD this year. What is HPTSD, you ask? Halloween Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The symptoms: sweaty palms, periodic dizziness and occasional nausea. The cause: this affliction is commonly associated with lack of quality horror movies on cable television, a programming "vacuum", if you will, after Halloween. The cure: so far doctors are stumped but ongoing research suggests that making the Monsters HD channel available in all cable programming packages, both dish and digital cable, seems to alleviate the symptoms. tongue-1

Actually, I'm not, at the moment! shocked smiley I watched through the month of October, 175 films/DVDs...all sci-fi/horror related. I've actually been taking a break from sci-fi/horror films the past week or so. I, would, however, love to have Monsters HD offered as part of a cable package!

As I have switched over my internet and phone back to Bellsouth(just last week) I'm going to add DirecTV(and the dish) as my digital TV provider in early January. I do not think Monsters HD is part of DirecTV's package.

I had way too many service interruptions(phone and internet) with Comcast. I am going to use their cable service through December, 2007 since they gave me a large credit on my overall December, '07 bill.

Topic: I have been watching a lot of horror movies lately. On tap for today: The Shining(1980) & Hellbound: Hellraiser II(1988).

Does horror or sci-fi make up the majority of everyone's collections.....VHS, DVD or even LD? I'd have to admit, it probably does make up the majority of my collection.

There for a while, I thought Dad might be leaning towards Direct TV, as I believe they offer, The Big Ten Netowrk and Dad really wants that channel and I think they might offer Monsters HD, but losing local channels isn't worth it for Dad and he said he doesn't want to pay for satellite AND cable.

My DVD collection is made up mostly(75-80%) of action, sci-fi and horror. I'm including "kaiju" films under the category "sci-fi". The remainder(20-25%) of my collection is comprised of drama, comedy and animation.

Does that include the electrodes on the neck as well?

As far as me dressing up, Gloria(my girlfriend) tells me that's not necessary because most of her friends think I'm scary looking without any special makeup on. topper

I'll probably be handing out candy to the kiddies, I always enjoy doing that and seeing their costumes. I'm not sure if I'm going to have to work that night or not yet, so I may or may not party depending on how that goes.

I'm going to break with tradition this year and set out a large, plastic pumpkin, a couple of candlesLit) and the pumpkin filled with candy and a "Help yourself" sign, as opposed to standing around and waiting for the kids to run up hollering "trick or treat". witchy

I'll probably set up another sign that reads "Tired, working class dog inside house and gone to bed early." zombie1

You could always sleep right there in a chair, pretending to be a corpse. If any of the kids wake up you could scare the living hell out of them. crazy2

Man I am psyched for Halloween. I love this holiday. I live out in the boonies, so I probably won't be getting any trick-or-treaters, but you never know. I'm gonna deck the halls with everything spooky I can think of. I want to make my house really creepy, play some good creepy music. I've also been scoping out this cemetery that's supposed to be haunted. Maybe I'll spend the night there.

But besides that I don't know what I'm going to do this Halloween. If anybody has any great suggestions, I'd love to hear em. I want to make this a particularly awesome Halloween. Don't have much of any money to spend on it, though. I'm planning on making a creature suit to use in a movie I want to make, so all my money's going towards that. Too bad it wouldn't be done in time for Halloween.

bravo clap Now that's a good Halloween plan! thumbz up

I used to walk through the woods(behind my house) on weekends, as an early teenager, and at night, alone, imagining that a werewolf or some other monster was following me. Do this enough times and when you hear, or think you hear, a twig snap near you, it'll raise the hairs on the back of your neck. It sure as hell did mine. loco2
