Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. You know, I think she did. Both of my younger brothers seem to dwell on the negative and I honestly don't know why anyone would do that.
There often isn't any reason. By that I mean a person is like this because they have been this way for so long, they don't know how to be anything else. It also could be just force of habit, and some habits are very hard to break. thumbs down

Interesting, Lee. I guess that only makes sense that landscaping and such can continue, people just need to be aware of plants that do well in their regions. I know lots of folks around here actually do some planting in the Autumn, for Spring! Guess these bulbs can be planted and freezing weather won't kill them, then in spring, the bulbs will begin to grow and bloom. I have no trace of a 'green thumb', so most of this is lost on me. I love attractive landscaping, flowers and the like, but couldn't plant and grow anything if I tried.

I'm already feeling a little sad that in less than two weeks, Christmas will be upon us and over and then less than a week after that, we'll be taking down the tree and decorations. :(

Very true!

Had a package arrive by mail, yesterday, so there's four more gifts I can scratch off my, 'to buy' list. Mr Green I'm expecting three more packages and then I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Going shopping with Mom and Carol, tomorrow, to help Mom with a few gift ideas for my niece and nephew that are living with her and Carol will help Mom pick out an item or two for me. Mr Green

I baked off the batch of chocolate chip cookies that I mixed up, yesterday and the ungodly hour of 4:30AM, this morning! freak out

Once I have bought a digital camera and learned how to upload pics into my computer I will post, beside a picture of myself( freak out ), some pics of my furnished basement apartment, my DVD collection, and maybe even my cat, assuming he's in a good mood and allows his picture to be taken. tongue-1

Absolutely. Many who aren't will hire a landscape designer, who will have that knowledge about plants and "zones" compatibility.

Autumn and winter are optimal planting seasons for many varieties of trees, shrubs, and ground covers-the cooler temps are less stress on what's being planted.

 Cats can be so very anti-social, can't they? Heiney Butt is great around Carol and me, but acts all flakey when anyone else comes, except for Dad, he seems to like Dad and always wants to rub up against him, which Dad doesn't want, as being long-haired, HB thinks he needs to leave a pound of hair on you. Doesn't matter how much brushing he gets....which he HATES, he still leaves a little hair on you. crazy

Lee, did you have to undergo any formal training for this line of work you're in or was it more, 'on-the-job' training? I would think you'd have to have a lot of knowledge of all this, which you do and I was curious if you took courses or classes on all this or simply picked it up through work and retained the knowledge?

Hehehehehe....probably we'll lean towards the, 'not'. ;)

One of the traditions Mom began when we kids were very young was opening our stockings on New Year's Eve and we did that all the while we grew up and even as an adult. It's only been the last few years that I have stopped it, just because Carol has had to work NYE/NYD and heads to bed mighty early. We may rekindle that tradition, again, this holiday season, but perhaps not.

I love chocolate chip cookies, but don't like crispy cookies and there has to be tons of chocolate chips in them. My youngest brother likes the chocolate cookies with the peanut butter chips, so I'll have to do those, too.

Carol is a bit more adventerous with her baking and she makes some of my favorites, now. Thumbprint cookies with strawberry jam, kolachkies and not sure of the name, but they are kind of a crackle cookie. I'm hoping to make some rum balls with a recipe from a close friend, I love those babies, too!

I sometimes have to laugh, I know some cookies are very involved and perhaps a bother to make, but did you ever notice, you only really see some cookies and certain candies made at Christmas? :ph43r:

Once I have bought a digital camera and learned how to upload pics into my computer
I went by CVS Pharmacy after work today. They sell disposable digital cameras for $20. I buy the camera, take the pics, then return the camera to CVS and they develop the photos onto a CD(they can do this onto DVDs as well), though I would opt for a CD as my computer only has a CD-ROM drive. I pick up the CD, along with any instructions, and upload the disc onto my hard drive. I am going to buy one of these digital "disposable" cameras in the next couple of days, take some pics of me and my crew members at work, a few shots of my residence and place of employment, then upload them onto this site. faster <!--emo&shifty eyes-->Posted Image<!--endemo-->

A combination of both. I had to study for eight weeks with two different manuals before taking the Category 24 Pesticide Applicator's examination-I also had to pay a $25 fee to take the test, held at North Metro Technical College about 10 miles north of Atlanta, GA. The test was in two parts: a "General" section, and a "technical" section. I studied very hard for this test. To pass it and obtain a Cat 24 Pesticide Applicator's License one needs to score a 70 or higher on both parts of the test. I scored in the low 90's on both parts. My Cat 24 license is good for five years and can be renewed(which I will do in early 2009) by simply acquiring 10 credit hours of seminars-there's no obligation to re-test. It will take me two full days of seminars, at which my attendance will be recorded, in order to get re-licensed. I also have a certificate entitled "Certified Landscape Technician", which I acquired through a written test and a practical(field) test. This test was, IMO, much easier than the Pesticide Applicators test. This certificate simply states that I have the basic and fundamental skills of a landscaper in all the major categories of work within the "Green" industry. It's more formality than anything, Kimi, but I was offered a modest hourly increase in my pay by my employer at that time if I got certified, so I worked and got this certificate. I currently keep a book on trees'/shrubs of the SE United States in my truck for reference, as well as detailed lists(with photos) of plant and turf diseases(descriptions and treatments). I have amassed a large amount of notes and copies of handouts about the landscaping business over the years, which I also refer to from time to time. I asked lots of questions early on in the industry, and was fortunate to work with some very good people, foreman and landscape designers, who took the time to share their knowledge of the business with me. I'm still, after eleven years(and counting), learning new things every day. thumbs up

we'll be taking down the tree
You might try saving some of the tree's runners and sticking them in a glass decanter or similar container, and placing it in your bathroom or kitchen. My best friend's wife does this, saying it makes a good air freshener for about a week or two. eyebrow

That's great that you've taken the initiative to learn as much as you can about the line of work you're in. I was also the type, when I was working to take notes and keep them nearby, just for reference and such. I think at times, it made work a lot easier!

Hahahaha.....I hear you! I don't see, say, rumballs or kolachky's except at Christmas and those peanut butter cookies with the Hershey's Kisses on top, that seems to be a Christmas treat.

Where do you stand on the fruit cake issue, Lee? Yay or Nay? I don't care for it, myself, as I'm not a candied fruit kind of person and I especially don't care for raisins! freak out

Exactly why I take, and retain my notes, and keep books in my truck. There is no way a landscaper can ever know everything, but knowing how/where to get the info is the real key. nod

 You know, I worked in a processing plant and in spite of not working in the departments in which the beef was slaughtered or boned out, I still noticed a definite odor on my clothing from being around cold to freezing meat and temps. The temps were kept at a pretty constant 30º--34º with huge fans on the ceiling to keep us chilled to the bone. Most of us wore sweatshirts or flannel shirts over our street shirts and under our 'smocks' or coveralls. One day, I picked up my youngest brother to do some shopping and had tossed my flannel shirt on the passenger seat to wash and Skeet made it very obvious that in spite of working in a cold environment, my shirt still managed to have it's own unique smell! freak out
