Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Do you work at this Zoo Shawn? If so how do you like it?

Final question but what kind of camera are you using? This is the camera I use

http://usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/slr_cameras/eos_rebel_t2i_ef_s_18_55is_ii_kit

I mainly use a 55-250mm lens (telephoto) for most of my shots just because it takes a lot better pictures then the lens that's show in that link.

I plan on investing in a macro lens soon. If you enjoy photography I'd invest in a camera like the one I have. Sure it's kind of complex but with a little practice you can get really good at it. I thought I wanted to do writing for my creative side but I enjoy photography so much more. Especially when I get shots like the ones posted in this thread.

I do and I love it! I've always enjoyed being around animals and now working with them I am just in heaven. At first I never thought I'd like working at a zoo but I gave it a shot and now I enjoy going to work.

I use a Panasonic DMC ZS8. I would like to buy a better camera but the only problem is that I tend to be rough with my camera because I'm always in a forest or rugged places.

You can buy camera bags specifically for DSLR cameras that hold your len(s), camera and other equipment.

If you look in the Best Buy add weekly they using offer "bundles" consisting of the camera, extra lens, memory card and a camera bag.

For example when I bought my Canon T2i I got the lens kit version of the camera that included an 18-55mm lens inside with the camera, an xtra lens 55-250mm, an 8GB PNY memory card and a camera bag. Though to be honest the camera bag kind of sucks so I'll be looking to upgrade once I get a few more lens for my camera.

I REALLY want to get a macro lens since they're great for shooting things close.

@ gvamp: It seems like it would be a good investment if you use your camera a lot.
@ Lee: Every animal in the zoo has a strange name. The bears you see are family which includes a mom and her cubs (Mom: Rita - Son: Otis - Daughter: Inga) which were problem bears from Minnesota. The three bears were going to be put down because they liked to cause destruction in their home town. The town moved the bears across the state and somehow they walked from where they were dropped off back to the town ( very funny ) Our bear exhibit was designed for Polar Bears only, but the curator didn't want to see these bears put down so we have them now. Since our bear exhibit wasn't designed for them they tend to destroy everything while playing (they love to dig!).

I tend to use my camera a lot during the spring and summer not really much to shoot in the winter time because where I'm at we get a lot of snow in fact we're getting a blizzard style storm right now despite the weather report saying less than an inch of snow.

If I decide to shoot people I might be able to get more stuff in the winter time. My friend Sasha like me to do some photos for her but we really haven't set a date to do so and also my best friend's fiance would like me to do some pictures for her of her kids but again nothing is set in stone.

I just got a book last week for my camera which I'm trying to read but just haven't had the time too. Hopefully I learn some new tricks to better use my camera.

I'll probably be investing in a macro lens also since I just got a new credit card, I'm not getting an expensive lens just something decent.

My good friend Chris forwarned me that this is an expensive hobby I'm getting into. very funny

It is a type of antelope that lives in mild jungles to swampy wetlands. They are known for their long beautiful horns and big floppy ears. They are very beautiful creatures. Pictures don't even do them justice when you get to be close to them.

Ellie May, our Wallaby has been deadly sick for about 6 months and we had to put her down. Here is the best picture I could find of her.

(Once agian, not mine.) She just turned 10 almost 2 weeks ago. Most of her bred usually live to be about 15 so 10 was a good number since she has been sick a lot since she was 7 ...
