  • Mantra berikut merupakan mantra yang dipelajari di Mahoutokoro.
  • Murid kelas 1 tidak boleh menggunakan mantra di luar sekolah.
  • Murid kelas 2 ke atas boleh menggunakan mantra di luar sekolah, tapi masih di dunia sihir.
  • Mantra yang boleh dipakai hanya mantra tingkatannya saat ini dan di bawahnya. Murid kelas 1 tidak bisa menggunakan mantra murid kelas 2; hasilnya akan gagal dan terdapat efek samping yang sewaktu-waktu bisa membahayakan.
  • Mantra non-verbal bisa mulai digunakan oleh murid kelas 4 untuk mantra-mantra sederhana di bawah tingkatannya (lumos, wingardium leviosa, dsb). Untuk mantra yang efeknya besar tetap harus merapalkan mantra-nya (contoh: Lumos Maxima).

    Effect: Creates a jet of icy clear water, which the caster can control.
  • Arania Exumai

  • Fiendfyre
    FEEND-fire
    Effect: Cursed fire, made up of flames of abnormal size and heat that can crumble fairly substantial objects to soot at a mere touch. Left burning long enough, the fire will take the shapes of gigantic fiery beasts (including serpents, chimaeras, dragons, and birds of prey) which will pursue any target humans.
  • Jelly-Brain Jinx
    Effect: Affects the victim's mental processes. They become slower and confused.
  • Sectumsempra
    sec-TUM-sem-pra
    Color: White
    Effect: Cuts the target with deep gashes.
    Counterspell: see Vulnera Sanentur
  • Snitch Jinx
    Effect: A delayed-action jinx which writes the word "sneak" across someone's face in pimples if they break an agreement they sign.

Unforgivable Curses
Mantra ini tidak boleh digunakan tanpa seizin admin forum.

  • Crucio (Cruciatus Curse)
    CROO-see-oh
    Color: Red, or sometimes no color at all
    Effect: Causes the target to experience excruciating physical pain. Overuse of this curse can cause irreversible damage to the brain.
  • Imperio (Imperius Curse)
    im-PEER-ee-oh
    Effect: Gives the caster control over another person, taking away the victim's free will. The caster's voice is heard in the target's head, telling them what to do.
  • Avada Kedavra (Killing Curse)
    uh-VAH--duh ke-DAV-ra
    Color: Green
    Effect: Immediately kills the victim with no signs of physical effect.


Japanese Native Spell

Di samping tidak mengajarkan ilmu sihir keluarga yang diajarkan turun temurun, ada pula studi-studi sihir yang tidak dipelajari (atau hanya dipelajari sebagian) di Mahoutokoro. Beberapa di antaranya adalah:

    Based on tengenjutsu and popularized by Yokoyama Marumitsu
    Learning about: fortune telling, personality, true character, divination (date of birth), face features, inner self, sexagenary cycle

    Learning about: Kannabi Shinkō, shamanistic beliefs, animism, ascetic practices, yin yang, taoist magic, physical endurance, mudra

    Based on Chinese Gu (not a popular magic)
    Learning about: worm, bugs, insects, poison, curse, venom, black magic, disease, seduce, tempt, confuse, mislead

  • Way of Yin and Yang (Onmyōdō)
    Based on Chinese Wu Xing and popularized by Kamo no Yasunori, Abe no Seimei
    Learning about: gobosei, ofuda, shikigami, kuji-in, kuji-kiri, divination (eastern zodiac), feng shui, incantation, spell, konjin, shōkan

Alasan mengapa mantra tradisional ditinggalkan adalah karena rapalan yang panjang sehingga membutuhkan waktu lebih lama. Namun, karena rapalannya yang panjang, hasil mantranya seringkali juga berbahaya. Melihat hal ini, Kementrian Sihir memutuskan bahwa mantra tradisional tidak cocok dipelajari oleh murid Mahoutokoro yang masih berumur 11-18 tahun. Mantra berbahasa latin terbukti lebih singkat, cepat, dan mudah dipelajari.

Namun di luar kurikulum Mahoutokoro, murid-murid dan alumni diperbolehkan mempelajari mantra-mantra tradisional jika kebetulan tahu mantranya. Mantra ini seringkali dipengaruhi budaya Taoisme, Shinto, atau Buddha, dan biasanya menyebut nama-nama Dewa atau elemen-elemen religius lainnya. Misalnya mantra untuk pertahanan terhadap sihir hitam: "Rangkul dan puja semua Buddha, bagi asal mula bintang Gouzanze Myou-ou Penguasa Timur, Daiitoku Myou-ou Penguasa Barat, Gundari Myou-ou Penguasa Selatan, Kongouyasha Myou-ou Penguasa Utara. Tundukkan, sucikan, dan hancurkan!"

Selain itu terdapat mantra-mantra yang dirapalkan dalam nyanyian seperti mantra Teru-Teru Bozu. Namun, ada pula mantra singkat yang lebih gamblang seperti mantra "chichin puipui, rasa sakit pergilah."

  • Karakter boleh menggunakan mantra karangannya sendiri, tapi level mantra yang dirapalkan harus sesuai. Misal, murid kelas satu bisa merapal mantra "Berubahlah jadi warna yang kusuka!" dengan efek yang sama dengan mantra Coloris Alterno.
  • Mantra buatan yang memiliki efek serupa dengan Kutukan Terlarang tidak boleh digunakan tanpa seizin admin forum.
  • Mantra tradisional dipelajari di luar kurikulum sekolah. Namun untuk keberhasilan, tetap disesuaikan dengan tingkatan kelas karakter.
