"Hear me, my peace-drunk brethren! You are being led astray by your weak and frail leader Queenchief Nuria. She colludes with the ponies to declaw you, to dull your fangs! Long ago the Kirin struck fear into any country touching the sea! We were rulers of bloodied coin and had respect! but now, now the ponies, the weak cowardly ponies try to take away your culture! They deny us our heritage! Join me! join me and I'll show you the true path to power! Through blood! Carnage and gold! I defeated your 'queen' in single battle... She has failed you and grown soft with her 'peace.' a lapdog for her Equestrian masters! It is time for the Kirin to return to the forefront, through fire and blood!"- The Warlord Ashwrath gave this recuitment speech in the kirin city of Aeros with a retinue of strange uniform looking kirin. Many are worried of the violence to come and are already petitioning Equestria to intervene.

| Welcome to Multa Saecula. A set of worlds aside from just Equestria itself. Many generations ago, the plane that housed Equestria; Terra, created magical portals to other dimensions. These dimensions are Lux, a land rich with magic, yet constantly under threat from the same. And Tenebris, a dark plane where only the strong and willful survive.
These realms have existed together peacefully so far, commencing in trading, the sharing of culture, and immigration. Though their political views are much different than that of Terra, they find a way to coexist, sometimes reluctantly. Walk into this set of worlds and discover what adventure, romance, or tragedy, awaits you.

Changelings are a species of pony-like fae with chitinous shells that feed on that wondrous emotion called love, sustaining themselves in a magical manner still poorly understood by other races. The species as a whole comes in two easily-identifiable sorts, seelie and unseelie.
For those more educated on the subject, the simple fact of the matter is that changelings do not feed so much on the love itself as much as they feed on the transfer of love from one creature to another. In unseelie changelings, this is accomplished by taking love from another pony, and in seelie changelings it is from the changeling itself sharing its love with others.
| Seelie Changelings | |
Seelie changelings are colorful creatures of sunshine and rainbows who fit in wonderfully with your average crowd of ponies due to the bright hues that come to them naturally. They are in some ways the “adult” form of the changeling species, as all changelings are born unseelie and only become seelie by their own actions. They remain adept shapeshifters in this form, and are quite capable of all the same feats as their prior cousins, with the notable exception of their inability to absorb love from others. In most situations, seelie changelings cannot starve or go hungry; although they are just as incapable of gaining sustenance from other changelings, since they gather energy by sharing their love with other creatures, they are going to always be fed so long as they keep the company of other species, provided they can muster up enough of their own love for those around them.
The act of transformation from an unseelie to a seelie changeling involves freely giving a grand bounty of one’s love to something else that is a void of love, typically another unseelie changeling, and using the energy from this transfer to power the transformation. It takes a large amount of energy to perform this transfer, and it can occasionally be hard to convince an unseelie changeling to assist in this endeavor, since they gain nothing from the process.
| Transitional Changelings | |
Transitional changelings are a somewhat rare, third sort of changelings, distinct from their brethren. They physically resemble their unseelie brethren, but in a social and dietary sense, they are most like seelie changelings. They do not feel the need to feed on other’s love, and gain their sustenance from their own love for other creatures. This stage of live is normally short for most changelings that actually go into it, as it is merely a step on the way to becoming a seelie changeling.
The distinction between the transformations is that while a seelie changeling has found a void of love and shared their own love with it, a transitional changeling is sharing their love with those around them and has not yet found or utilized such a void, and instead is only sharing their love with creatures like ponies and griffons. If they are cut off from the creatures they love, they will go through an agonizing process of starvation before reverting to their unseelie forms, regaining their natural love-draining capabilities.
Unseelie Changelings
| |
Unseelie changelings are the natural-born state of the changeling species, as all changelings, no matter their heritage, are born as these black, insectoid creatures. They feed on the love of those around them and use it to power their bodies, often with little regard for the lethargy this tends to instill in such ponies if the feeding is done unwillingly or greedily. One should note that despite their fearsome appearance, unseelie changelings are not necessarily evil: choosing to not become a seelie changeling is sometimes a point of pride for some families, and as well, the transformation requires that the changeling in question feel actual, honest-to-goodness love for other creatures, and as many ponies are well-aware, it can be difficult to find one’s love in the great big world out there, and sometimes you have to hunt for it. It’s not all bad, though. While unseelie changelings are even more reliant on having the right kind of ponies around to feed them than their seelie counterparts, the method of feeding they utilize allows them to absorb significantly more energy than their brethren, letting them expend this spare energy to boost their own power beyond their normal limitations, though at the cost of eating into their food supply. It’s a dangerous technique, but when a changeling has to fight to survive, it may be the best solution they have.
There are a few fringe theories out there that state it might be possible for a seelie changeling to once more become unseelie, though none have thus far been tested. Most prominent is the idea that if a seelie changeling were to somehow steal the love of another creature, that the reversion of their feeding would also revert them to their prior form and give them back the natural ability to feed on love, but given that there are no known spells to achieve this sort of effect, it is unlikely that such an idea would ever be tested. And either way, why would a changeling wish to go back to their old shape, anyway.

Changeling Courts
Lacking a unified nation and in many corners of the world finding themselves driven into the shadows, changelings are prone to organizing themselves into loose collectives to provide mutual aid and safety. A place where contacts can be shared, representatives can be selected, and, in less-accepting places, escapes and new identities can be arranged. Courts come in every size, from ones coordinating activities within a small town’s borders, to ones that conduct international activities in defense of their kind. Along with this, there are two broad archetypes of changeling court, depending on their overarching goals and hopes: Summer courts, and Winter courts. Summer Courts are founded on principles of coexistence with other races and the current governing powers of the world. An emphasis is placed on kindness and sharing of love from the changeling that make them up, so they are overwhelmingly populated by Seelie changelings, with only one or two Unseelie members in even the largest organizations. Winter Courts, however, are born out of a desire for dominance, oftentimes coming with describing the other species as “lesser”. Winter Court changelings believe that they are either inherently better than others, or that the current abuses and mistreatment of their kind deserves righteous retribution in kind. As such, they’re mostly composed of Unseelie changelings with little love for other species, although the occasional Seelie does join after being wronged by another creature.
It should be noted that these are political organizations, not criminal ones, outside of regions where being a changeling is in some way itself criminal. Some members of the organizations may be criminals, and they might even abuse the connections of the Courts to assist their activities, but their existence is not devoted to criminal activities. Not even Winter Courts.
