Urbane![]() Full Name: Mulholland Black Nick Name(s): Holly, Mull Code Name: Urbane Age: 23 Gender: Male, queer as a six dollar bill Physical Description: Mulholland is Caucasian male who stands 5'8" tall and weighs in at 170 pounds. He has dirty blonde hair and slate blue eyes. Lean and more lanky than honed muscle, it is no wonder Mulholland has garnered the nickname 'Holly'. Though lack of overtly obvious musculature aside, due to what is best described as a 'swimmer's build' Mulholland can still wield his signature sledgehammer with ease thanks to his underlying muscle strength. Not one to overly care for public perceptions, Mulholland dresses in an aloof style with varying degrees of leather and thrown together accessories. His hair is at all times dyed to an unnatural color, and his personal esthetic is best described as non existent. Mulholland's body bears some telltale scars from his life both in bad foster families and life on the streets. Beyond that, he has no distinguishing features (aside from a giant hammer on his back.) Playby: Cole Mohr Personality Overview: Aloof and random. Mulholland has made an art out of not caring what other people think, and not worrying about what society deems normal. He says and does what he feels and thinks. He allows himself to be pulled in by the emotions around him and he goes with it. He has a friendship with his hammer... it seems odd to most, but it is the one consistent possession he has kept by his side and he refuses to let it go. While the hammer is in no means a sentient being, Mulholland can sense the latent history it holds within it, a history that is his own, and as such he feels it is more than simply a tool or a possession. Mulholland can get a long with most anyone. But he can also be annoyed by them all the same. He is a free spirit, who has grown accustomed to being alone, but longs to be near others, he claims this is so he can better use his powers... but no one wants to be alone. Powers: Psychometry transferred into psycho kinetic power. Mulholland can convert the dormant energies of emotion and history that rest beneath the surface of a person or a place. He changes said energy from an ethereal thing into a physical kinetic force. This force can be manifest in multiple ways, but is most commonly manifested through the hammer he carries with him at all times, and used to create powerful blows, far beyond what would be allowed by his strength alone, with the blunt weapon. In simple terms. Mulholland take a non tangible energy form and converts it into one that can interact with the world around it. The thoughts, feelings, histories, that he uses go from mere thoughts into energy. This energy can be channeled into the hammer he carries, or any other weapon he holds, including his bear hands, thus taking what would be a normal swing of the weapon and increasing its power substantially. The amount of power unleashed is relative to the amount of energy he can pull in. An old historical building, a museum, a site of grisly murders or wondrous weddings would all give much more power than a newly built parking garage or a rundown cracker factory. Skills: Street survival skills. Petty theft. Hammers like a boss. History: Mulholland did not have a typical childhood, or anything remotely akin to a typical upbringing. He was born to a pair of grunge rockers, who were not at all expecting a child to enter into their lives. As such, his childhood was one of tragedy. His parents lifestyle choices did not change upon having a kid, and being addicted to various drugs, they both overdosed while Mulholland was still young. He became a ward of the state, bounced from one foster family to another in a long string of bad homes. After a string of petty crimes, and a drunken beat down from a foster father, Mulholland landed in a juvenile ward where his mutant abilities manifested one night while he slept. Drawing on the emotions of those around him, the history of the place, the fear, the sadness, he built up a massive amount of energy into his hands which released when he sat up in bed and placed his hand on the nearby nightstand, pulverizing it into splinters. This was the day Mulholland became labeled a freak by the staff and other residents of the ward. Life took an even more depressing spiral at that point. His days were filled with endless insults, random bullying, and at least twice daily beat downs. The beatings from the other kids were one thing. The beatings at the end of a guards night stick quite another. To say he developed a distrust for authority figures is an understatement. To say he has warm and cuddly feelings about his life there would be a flat out lie. And yet he survived. He retreated into fantasy and his own mind, playing alone, reading to himself, making things up. Pretend became his friend. Make believe became his solace. Mulholland could endure the most sinister of taunts, the most savage of beatings, if he just let himself laugh at the world and find something good about it. Even if that good thing had to be something he invented. Like a cuddly dust bunny eating all the bullies. A giant flame thrower made of grass... okay that would just burn itself up... The point. He could escape into whimsy, he could run away into fantasy. Until the day it all changed. The day that things went from simple beat downs and slurs to something much darker and more sinister. Cornered in the showers one evening by two guards, Mulholland's innocent world of make believe nearly came to a crushing end. No more beatings. These sadistic bullies wanted more. And they were keen on getting it. Forced to his knees, Holly could hardly turn the situation into something pleasant. Screamed at and ordered to open wide he could hardly turn the sound of zippers unzipping into the colorful fantasies he created in the world around him. What he could do was focus on all the history that the building had. Every child who had come through the place had left their mark in one way or another. Every ounce of pain, every tear shed, had left behind some trace of memory, of power. Mulholland seized on that power, he gripped the history in his mind like a vice. Then he focused it all into the soap on a rope, it glowed an electric blue with power as it hung from his hand, more power each moment as he pulled in everything he could. Then he swung it at the nearest of the two guards. The dull thud of the soap connecting with the guards head is a sound Mulholland will never forget. The blood mixing with the water as it washed down the drain a sight he will not forget. The terrified look on the second guards face, a memory he will never lose. He took that moment as his chance to flee and he left the ward. He abandoned state custody and lived a life on the run living in the dredges of the city. Since his powers draw on the emotions and history of that around him, when able he would study up on people and places, and that is how his life continued. On the run, in the shadows, living day by day. That was exactly how he expected to live out the remainder of his life. Alone, on his own. And then Division X showed up and offered him a brighter future. Distrust was his initial reaction. Men in suits were seldom a good thing after all. But maybe this time things would be different... Optional Information Likes: Fluffy bunnies. Staring at clouds. Sledgehammers. Dislikes: Bigots, the foster system. Fears: Being alone forever. Losing control of his powers. Being overwhelmed by his powers. Goals: To become president of the world's leading sawdust manufacturer, or something equally random. Birthday: February 29th Family: Gwen Black (mother, deceased), Gray Black (father, deceased) Legal Status: Minor arrests for criminal trespass, petty theft.
