In a factory on the outskirts of the city, the workers were preparing to finish up for the day. They had had to push a production run on a Sunday because their client was pushing to get their batch of product earlier than originally planned. As things were winding down, one of the men working on the line was holding onto the safety railing for support as he clenched his eyes shut and sweat poured down his face. It didn't take long for his coworkers to realize something was wrong. Several of them started to gather around. He was starting to shake a little.

"Are you alright?" One woman asked. "Are you sure hes not having a heart attack? Does your left arm hurt?" Another man suggested.

Between gritted teeth the man forced some words out. "No, I just... My whole body hurts, it feels like... like something is crawling inside me." After that he started to convulse and several of the people rushed to grab a hold of him so that he didn't fall. To their surprise a mass of electric blue ropes or tentacles burst out of his arms, ensnaring several them. They all screamed as fell to the ground. The man looked horrified at the glowing appendages protruding from his body, but even his it quickly turned to panic as they continued to grow, searching for more people to capture.

Place The Island Enterprise (Forges Lab)

Forge was at a his hardlight station in his lab, working on some elements for a holodeck when a seldom heard voice broke out through the room's speakers. It was male, but otherwise a rather nondescript baritone. It belonged to the security AI, Big Brother.

"Forge, there is an incident in progress in San Francisco that may interested you and the rest of Utopia."

Without needing a prompt Lisa tapped into the news channel that Big Brother was routing to them and projected it in a square in front of Forge. A reporter was standing beside several police cars outside of a factory building.

"Roughly 15 minutes ago a mutant worker at the facility manifested some kind of tentacle like constructs that have taken several of the other workers hostage. Police are on the scene and trying to get the hostages released, but the mutant seems unwilling or unable to do so. I have been told officers will use lethal force to protect the hostages if that is what is necessary."

Forge waved his hand and Lisa cut the feed. "Operator, get me Scott and Jean on the phone and package up that video to send to them."

Forge was already on his way to the main Utopia island while the phone rang. As soon as he heard them pick up he began talking. "Jean, Scott, there is a development in the city I think you should see. I'm sending a video taken from the local news."

While he waited for a reply, Forge hurried across the sand bar to the main island. His gait was much closer to a normal one with his lighter leg. He didn't know if they should get involved as the situation was possibly a bit too public for them, but thought Scott and Jean should be aware of it. Maybe they could help, but if worst came to worst, there might be an angry mob out looking to lynch mutants and they should watch their backs.

"Already preping, I'll be in the air as soon as I can. Operator will be keeping track of your situation and updating me. If you need me, just address me by name, he'll put you through without you actually needing to call me. Good luck." Forge informed Scott and Jean before he closed the call.

As large a group as they were, they drew some attention leaving the dining area all at once, but no one was paying that close attention to what was going on, that is except for a well dressed Asian woman standing by a "staff only" door on the far side of the food court. She raised a hand to her ear and spoke softly.

"They are on the move. I'll step in, have Mr. Chambers connect me." Without a delay she opened the door and stepped through. A few seconds later, the door sort of shrank away, like the walls beside it just folded over it and there was no trace it ever existed.

Place: Factory

The situation at the factory was tense. The police had a perimeter set up and the entire outside of the building was aglow with red and blue. The surrounding area was not well lit and it wouldn't be difficult for the Utopians to get a good view of the building without being noticed. If Jean cared to try and pick up a mental reading, she would find a maelstrom of nerves and anger from the cops outside and quite a bit of fear from those inside the building.

Inside, the people were all clustered near the center of the long building. The poor mutant was standing next to his station with dozens of electric blue ropes thrashing about him uncontrollably. There were 19 fellow workers wrapped up in it.

Safely out of reach of the blue tentacle things, 6 cops were taking cover behind equipment, one was trying to talk down the mutant but his responses hardly counted as words. Up on a ledge by one end of the factory, a SWAT officer was setting up a sniper, trying to line up a clean shot at the cause of the disturbance.

We can have you all post either arriving outside or with the teams being teleported inside. I will post the STer more than once a rotation so that everyone else isn't waiting forever to find out what happened.

Jean was quiet while the others debated the ins and outs of who would do what. Scott's suggestion of splitting into teams was easy to follow for the most part until some debate on Yoyo and Callie's involvements came into question. Jean's impression of the situation was something else entirely. She wasn't interested in a war-zone here. She wanted in and out. If there were any injured when this mutant manifested their power, they would see them to safety and secure the building so there was no damage. She wanted to nab the mutant, assess his situation to see how malicious his intent or innocent his accident might be, and if he wasn't in there trying to kill everyone, they could help him on Utopia.

It was interesting to note it was Billy who wanted to force someone into an active role, considering how active he was in demanding anarcho-socialism, which vehemently stood the ground of an individual freedom within its own context. She wouldn't question it now, though, and instead let everyone decide if they were in or out. She'd called for volunteers, this wasn't a mandatory thing, but she didn't have the patience for arguing at the moment. She was focused.

{"Should be quick and easy. Yoyo, get us in, find the mutant, get any 'hostages' to safety, assess the mutant's intention and situation, and get him out of there. Nobody needs to get hurt or hands on in any way. But quite frankly, we won't know what the deal is until we're in there."} She paused to debate Billy's demands to work with Teddy. On the one hand, it was a good point that if they'd trained together, they would make a better team than people who hadn't. On the other hand, it was a dangerous move putting romantic partners directly together on the field. It was a conflict of interest, riddled with bias and preferential treatment. But again, this wasn't a time to argue. She'd bring it up later, when they weren't rushing into a mission all disorganized like this. {"I like the plan, Scott, and we can accommodate for Billy today. Billy, Teddy, and Holly with me. Bobby, Teon, and Kay with Scott. Yoyo and Callie working the safety angle."}

As they arrived on the scene, a safe distance and masked by the shade of an alleyway, Jean counted off on the assembled team. It was a shabby bunch for sure, and they hadn't had time to train at all. But she'd been on the field with three of them at least, and knew she could trust Scott's team to work well. She could only go by Billy and Teddy's words, and she had... literally no idea what to expect out of Bobby, Holly, Yoyo, and Callie. That being said, there was no reason anyone would have to be in danger today.

"Rundown the codenames, guys," it was a necessary thing to avoid being identified. She didn't have to explain that.

"I can't get any detail read on the place from here, just a pistol whip in the head from angry cops. That's who we need to avoid. And once we're in there, I won't be able to hold up a psychic link for all of us the whole time. I'll check in when I can." She finally turned and nodded her chin toward the little teleporter. "Yoyo, you're up."

BOOM!

It was probably the most interesting way she'd ever entered a crisis situation. She'd barrel rolled her way over cars on a falling bridge to collect some dying patients to keep them alive, she'd descended from rope into cave-ins to assess people's damage, and recently had crashed through a glass roof into a battle ground in order to free mutant prisoners... but she had never teleported into a crisis.

There was something so jarring and yet so wonderful about it. She didn't have time to appreciate it, though. Her brain was already working the wonders of a first move. With her were Billy, Teddy and Holly. Wiccan, Gargoyle, and Urbane, now. And unfortunately, the more mass Yoyo teleported, the louder his powers made themselves apparent to anyone at the receiving end of a teleport. The likelihood they were heard was probably pretty high, and Jean instantly did what she could to telepathically feel out for any aggressors.

"Urbane, can you get a read on what happened here?" She wasn't totally familiar with his abilities, but knew in part he had something like psychometry. They needed to assess what the mutant was and was not responsible for.

But after a quick read on the place to get a count on any potential threats to the peace Jean had in store, she felt the sniper working his weapon.

"Sniper, east end," she announced in a loud whisper. As she finally laid eyes on him, she reached out with a telekinetic tug in an attempt to disassembled the sniper piece by piece.

Holly had traveled a ton of different ways since he had left his previous home in order to live on his own. Previous home. What a colorful name to place on a prison for kids where mistreatment was the only form of love a person got and hatred was a kin to love. It was no more a home than a zoo was a home for animals. Cages, prisons, places meant to keep you locked up, pretend they kept you safe, while really they just made you easy picking for the ones in power to prey on.

They hadn't preyed on Mulholland for long though. Long enough to leave scars of the emotional variety. Not long enough to leave even worse scars. Right? His mind flashed back to thoughts of a bloody man laying on the shower room floor, water and blood flowing away from his body and swirling down the drain. Dead. Deservedly so. But Holly would never wrap his mind fully around what he had done with his powers. And he would never tell anyone.

That was the past. He was now in the present. Thinking about modes of transport. Busses. Trains. Planes. Hitchhiking. Sneaking aboard. He had tried it all. Yet he had never tried this whole teleporting thing. That was new to him. Until it was mission time and Kaboom went and sent them through a purple haze that was all sonic boom and little substance.

It was a freaking boom tube. Holly gave a glance at the rich kid with the strangely quirky personality. A boom tube. Straight out of the comic books. Straight out of a far off land. Called Apokolipse. Fuck a duck. Yoyo was from Apokolipse. Fiction brought to life. The memories of the past washed away as Holly smiled at this revelation. Did that mean Superman was real too? Nah. Superheroes didn't exist like that. They didn't arrive in spaceships and save the world. Superheroes had to make themselves, using what they had at hand. Wits, skills, bravery.

It was what they were all doing now as they boom tubed into danger, right?

He was again pulled from another tangent of thought as Phoenix directed a question his way. He hadn't been expecting that. In the chain of command he assumed he was one wrung above the bottom. No one ever asked the grunts their opinions. But this was Utopia. They made their own rules here.

"Gimme a sec...." Urbane, yeah codename time, said before he focused his mind on the area around them. A construction site in a city. Both were veritable treasure troves of past information. The trick was finding the useful information. It wasn't a trick he used a lot, as any memory would power him up, STRONGER ones more-so, so they were the ones he usually latched onto. In this case he wanted USEFUL information...

There had been a construction worker who had lost an arm in a freak accident when an iron girder fell on him. That had been long ago, while a bank was being built near by, everyone wore clothing straight out of the forties, talked with slang no longer used. Strong enough memory that the toy dinosaur in Urbane's hand began to glow with power. Yet not a useful one.

A man had proposed to his wife on the street corner. He felt the excitement the joy, the nervous energy. And then the rejection as she had said no. Followed by... a vivid image of the man stepping out in front of a trolly car as it raced past. Suddenly the memory was pain and blood. The dinosaur glowed brighter still.

He pushed past those images and memories. He sensed something new. A constraining force. Fear followed by pain, followed by glee, malicous rampant glee that stuck to the soul and clawed at it, begging for release. Someone enjoyed the damage they caused, the plans they sowed into action. But at the same time there were trapped people, writhing in pain, and he could sense those memories. All of them fresh.

"There are a number of people trapped, wrapped up in electric... tentacles.... leashes? I havent seen anything like it before. It's hard to explain... they keep getting shocked though. One man is holding them there..." Urbane announced what he felt, what he saw, unsure of the usefulness of it all.

There was more though. Something on the edge of his mind that nagged at him for attention. A memory from the night before that lingered strongly. Not because it was vivid. Not because it was some memorable event. But because it was meant to be strong, meant to hold some meaning. Because someone had become intimate with the building. As odd as that sounded... it was true. "There's something else... I think it happened a night ago?" Urbane spoke and then paused as he tried to figure out how to say what he was saying. "A man went around the space forming a personal connection with the room... It's weird, it feels like he became friends with the room... like he connected with it..." He shrugged. That made no sense. But there it was.

Instinct wasn't sure if his command had been understood or not. He wasn't even sure if it had been heard by the others. It seemed like only scant moments after he had announced that by no means would he allow Yoyo or Dryad into danger they had teleported right into danger. Apparently team input was welcomed up until a point. Then it was just mission on time.

He liked that in a way. Last time they went on a mission they had waited over a day. They had allowed plan after plan to be thought through. They had almost seemed as if they had not wanted to ever go. This time they were at least going in fast. That was something he had wanted all along.

The downside of course was they were apparently going in WITH Yoyo? Had he not been through enough? He had been shot once already and he wasn't even on a mission. After that he had decided to bring everyone shopping as if getting shot was somehow something he should apologize for. The glue that holds the pack together. That was how the glue acted. Always forming a bond.

Didn't mean the glue had to get shot at again though. They had plenty of others who could easily take a bullet. Instinct himself was one of them. Their fearless leader had told him just as much days before. He healed fast. Wounds would affect him less. So let Instinct get shot. Let Kaboom stay safe. That would be his mantra. If he had mantras.

He didn't have mantras though. Instead he had a pack. A pack with two others vying for leadership. Cyclops, an actual member of the pack. And then a non pack member. He gritted his teeth at that. But such emotion past by quickly as their leader spoke up and said yes Yoyo would stay safe. He would leave a thank you gift for her later. Something fresh and from the forest. On second thought he wouldn't. She had decided to accommodate Billy and Teddy and let them partner up so they could make out while on a mission, that in and of itself was dangerous. But the fact she let them have as they wanted gave some ground to the assertion of pack dominance...

Upon their arrival, Teon crouched down low to the ground and sniffed at the air to see what he could smell. There was a lingering scent of ozone, and a telltale tingle on the hairs on his arms that told him that strong electricity had been in play, or was in play, nearby. He listened and could hear the crackle of power somewhere ahead of them. "Electricity, strong...." He offered up as he stepped forward. "More people around..." He added as he let his senses go and pulled in more information.

Stay safe.

Stay safe.

Stay safe.

How could Yoyo possibly find safety in the middle of all this? He had gone from a scrub who possibly would never want to put himself in the front, middle, or back of a mission to being an essential part in an unexpected mission developed out of, as far as he knew, a crazed mutant holding hostages.

Sure, Jean was under the impression it could all be accidental, that his powers manifested uncontrollably or something. But Scott and Billy seemed itching for a fight.

Phoenix

"Rundown the codenames, guys."

Yoyo fumbled at the mouth, dumbfounded. Again, why would he have a codename if he never intended to be on a mission? "Kuuuuhhh," he stumbled, half in thought. ANYthing, Yoyo! "BOOM!"

"Oh. I like that. I'm KaBoom!"

When he was called to the plate, he stepped up, petrified and wholly uncomfortable. His legs were actually buckling at the knees. He had no idea that legs actually shook when someone was that nervous, but there he was, rattling and quivering and sweating.

"I just want to let everyone know that I hate this a lot" And with that, a periwinkle wrinkle in space slurped the entire group up.

BOOM!
The first lot with Phoenix, Urbane, Wiccan, and Gargoyle were dropped in the East end.

BOOM!
The second in the West. Cyclops, Instinct, Iceman, and Templar. He hugged Teon quickly, a 'be safe' gesture with no words.

BOOM!
Finally, he and Dryad dropped in a custodial closet he'd spotted on the way, crammed in with the industrial mops and custodial buckets to fill with cleaning liquids and the like.

And while he was terrified for himself right now, some bit of PTSD still overtaking his body and preventing him from being anything useful outside of getting his friends where they needed to be, he was also a well of nerves for his friends. The difference was, they were all so cool and smart about this stuff. Teon and Scott and Jean and Kay and Bobby and Holly and Billy and Teddy! Even Callie probably knew how to do all this stuff. Maybe she was just here to keep Yoyo safe, and they didn't want to tell him that.

Immediately, he sunk down to a crouch and cracked the door open ever so slightly, peeking out to try and wrap his head around anything that might be happening outside of the closet.

"I hope T-" he stopped, "-Instinct doesn't get hurt. You see anything, Dryad?"

Teddy peered out at the building and the police and SWAT vehicles. He was starting to feel apprehensive this mission. Getting in an nabbing a mutant that had lost control or was intentionally causing problems was one thing, but having to deal with the police was a different story.

There was tension among the teammates, and that worried him. There had been minimal planning, they hadn't even trained as a team. Scott, Jean, Teon, and Kay had worked as a team well enough to rescue them all from the Friends of Humanity, but there were plenty in this group that hadn't. He and Billy had worked together. They knew each other's moves and Teddy was able to move more effectively if Billy charged him to make him lighter. Unfortunately, instead of being able to adequately explain the situation, Billy had to strong arm them to be on the same team, and it seemed that had caused friction.

He knew Billy and was sure that he hadn't meant that Yoyo should be fighting. Teddy recalled Kurt mentioning that he needed to see where he was going to teleport and figured that by "send everyone in," Billy had meant into the building, not into battle. Their team was already starting to fray at the edges and they hadn't even entered the factory yet.

As Teddy's skin turned green and his armor plates and claws grew, he addressed the team. "Be careful. If things go badly, we would retreat." Leathery batlike wings sprouted from his back and curved around him like a cloak. "I will be Gargoyle."

BOOM

Gargoyle appeared along with Wiccan, Phoenix, and Urbane. While Phoenix did her mind thing and Urbane did, whatever it was he did. Gargoyle waited will he felt the familiar tingling of Wiccan charging him and the reduction of his weight. Quietly he flapped his wings and rose up towards the top of the equipment they were behind. He grabbed a hold of the machinery and then used his powers to extend one of his eyes like a periscope.

Urbane's comment about someone making friends with the building seemed weird and he wasn't sure if it should concern him or make him laugh. The update about electricity caught in his mind just as he spotted the mutant and hostages.

"I see them, there is a guy with sort of electricity whips or something coming out from all around him. They have the hostages all tied up and it looks like they are shocking them." He returned his eye to normal and glided back down to the group. "I don't think he's doing it on purpose he looks like hes scared and in pain too."

He waited for Phoenix or Cyclops to give orders. He'd do what they said and try to keep Billy out of harms way. He would prefer to distract the cops, he could take a few bullets, probably, and be fine. Billy would have better luck with the mutant as his electric powers might help negate the whips, or at the very least keep him safe.

Billy was used to tension. He was used to conflict. Normally, though, he wasn't the one causing it, that was his bullies' job. He wasn't sure it was because he just was too smart for his own good or he simply could not get behind the way that Scott and Jean, sorry Cyclops and Phoenix, ran things. In reality though, neither of those were the case. Besides Teddy, Billy had spent far too much of his life pushing people away. He might have expected somewhat of a change on Utopia, but if he was going to change. He hadn't exactly done that yet.

It's easier to not let anyone see me than to let them in only to get hurt more.

But - God - this was not the time to be thinking through all of this. The mission. That was what mattered right now. Besides, Billy wasn't exactly ready to let his team know all of this about him. And he and Teddy were being put together in the end. That put Billy at so much more ease, and he felt like he could actually be of use now, since he and Teddy had practiced all those tag team moves together.

First matter of business: code names. Of course Billy, in all of his fanboy glory, had thought of a code name already. There was no way anyone was going to be able to convince Billy that mutant powers weren't magic. No amount of sciencey mumbo jumbo could possibly capture the feeling that Billy had was his hands glowed blue and electricity danced across his body. And flying was nothing if not magical. "Call me Wiccan," he declared. He was sure he could explain his choice later if anyone thought it was odd.

BOOM

Teleporting. Was. Not. Like. Flying. Wiccan staggered around once they were on the ground in the factory before loosing balance and falling on his ass. "Shit," he mumbled as he got up and rubbed his now sore ass.

Phoenix asked for recon, so Wiccan charged up Gargoyle as they practiced so many times before so that Gargoyle could fly and scope out the scene. Urbane comments about someone getting really friendly with the warehouse made Wiccan's skin crawl slightly. It struck him like those weird people who have gotten married to the Eiffel Tower or Berlin Wall or some other famous landmark he had read about somewhere as a reason that gay marriage was evil. Yeah, that makes sense. But there was no way it was that simple or benign. Gargoyle's information that the target mutant in question was using electrical whips was good news for Wiccan. He shields would be able to stop them easily and he might even be able to neutralize this mutant's powers before they hurt anyone, on the team or otherwise.

A blue glow started to form around Wiccan's hands as he floated in the air preparing for battle. He knew he had a lot to prove on this mission. He had to show the team that having him and Gargoyle together was a necessity and not simply Wiccan wanting the love of his life with him. He needed to convince the team that he could function in a chain of command while in the field, even if that wasn't he normal way of operating on Utopia. He needed them to trust him that he could get the job down. But more than anything, Wiccan needed to prove to himself that he was up to the task of being a hero. He needed to prove to himself that he wasn't just an asshole, but that he really cared about his team and what happened to them. He needed to keep his powers under control. Fuck, he needed Teddy to comfort him right now...But that couldn't happen. Wiccan waited on Phoenix's orders and prepared himself for battle.

Scott had put himself out there. He had devised a plan, had thought it through, had really good reasons for his suggestions to stand as they were, had stepped up and presented his idea, had chosen not to expound on every single one of those reasons in order to save them time .. and had been shot down. That shut him up. Like a snap. He didn’t make a habit out of putting himself out there like that. He wasn’t a leader, after all. His personality didn’t lend itself to being a leader. But here, for this, he had felt like he had something to contribute. Except Billy clearly didn’t appreciate it and didn’t even feel the need to inquire about Scott’s reasons, instead choosing to shoot it down right away. Fine. He shrugged. Whatever. Put fire and ice on the same team, that’s not going to land them into trouble when their powers negated each other. And send Callie in there as well .. like that wasn’t potentially spelling disaster.

He could see the fear in Yoyo, and thought he saw it in Callie too. He heard Yoyo’s panicky outburst, and the boy’s wish to stay out of the fighting zone. At least some of them appreciated the fact that Scott had put some thought into his suggestion. In the end, it wouldn’t matter, because it had already been declared nil and invalid, but he couldn’t deny that the approval of some his team-mates helped him feel less bummed out.

And Teon, he of the few words, even went so far as to slap Billy back down, demanding that at least Yoyo and Callie be kept out of the action. Still no one inquiring about why he wouldn’t have chosen to place Bobby and Kay on the same team, but he couldn’t expect such a question from Teon, nor did he do so. But when Jean also .. eh. No matter. No. Matter.

Go in, work their magic, get out. They could do that, he hoped. And so, he merely signaled his agreement with a nod. If that’s how they wanted to do it, that’s how it would go.

Arriving just off the scene, in a dank back-alley, he let Jean take command. Iceman, Instinct and Templar with him. The others with Jean. Callie .. Dryad staying out of the limelight, Yoyo taking care of transport. When Jean asked for a run-down on code-names, he chimed in quickly with *Cyclops.*, the name he had chosen for himself the previous time he had been on a mission. Then, all he could do was wait for Yoyo to drop off Jean and her team first

Soon, it was their time. With the loudest friggin’ BOOM, they arrived on the scene and Scott dropped into a crouch out of instinct, checking for Bobby and Kay. Teon showed the same physical reaction, likely also from instinct. They stayed down as they assessed the scene, Scott using his regular senses, Teon his extra sensitive ones. Ones Scott was immediately glad for having on his team when Teon alerted him to the fact that there were more people nearby and some electric current detectable. “Can you tell how many, or thereabouts?” he asked back, whispering. He was trying to peek around the corner, to see what was going on. The light from police SWAT cars was reflecting off every surface and he worried about how much longer they would hold off on escalating the situation.

Callie wondered, as she waited and watched everything happen, if the Lord sometimes forgot that He was in charge of this plane of existence. Crossing herself out of respect at the terrible thought behind her back, she clenched her fingers tightly into fists behind her back as she continued to mull over that point. She was, as a good Catholic, supposed to take into belief that God knew everything that happened and that everything had a purpose in happening. Not only that, but he was in complete control and could step in whenever he wanted. So why didn’t he? Why did he sit back and allow such things to happen? Had he just forgotten, or had the Devil become so strong that He was unable to act?

“I am Dryad,” she informed the group before small parts of their larger group disappeared in periwinkle light. Closing her eyes as finally she and YoYo were teleported, she finally opened her eyes and found herself in a closet that was probably used for cleaning. Letting out the breath she had been holding in a gasp, she stood up and turned once to see everything then came up behind YoYo and looked out into the hallway.

“I don’t see…anything,” she volunteered. “But I can find out.”

Stepping back a few paces, she crossed herself slowly then let her hands drop to her side. Closing her eyes, she breathed out and then let her mind flow as she searched out for plants. Cupping her hands against her chest, she searched mentally and then found a small thread of botanical life in the pot plant sitting in the corner of an office cubicle. Her eyes opened as she latched onto the minds of the nearby plant, slowly turning solid green.

“I feel…the plants feel…something,” she spoke quietly, her brow furrowing. “There is…fear…pain…anger…”

Swallowing, she dropped her hands as her eyes faded back to normal.

“What should we do, KaBoom?”

Character: Iceman
Date: March 14
Time: Early Evening
Place: San Francisco Factory

This was it. This was his moment. After living so long on the streets and in other peoples' apartments and lying awake with fantasies that the secret he'd kept inside himself might one day be something he could actually use... and not just play around with... This was it. Being charged into his call to arms for a situation that called for his mutant abilities to really help someone or some group... That was what he was waiting for. Lazing around on Utopia trying to find any sort of odd end to tidy up to at least try to appear useful in some capacity amongst all these doctors and lawyers and engineers and college students... This is what he wanted to do to pull his weight. This is what he was meant to do.

The rush and the need to be available to his teammates for whatever they would require coursed through him in a way he'd never felt before. He'd had enough training with his own abilities to be able to run defensive and raise ice blankets thick enough to protect them. He had enough innate control to launch varying penetrating shapes of ice javelins or projectiles. He even had the added agility of his ice slide. This, by no means made him invulnerable. In fact, it didn't sound too far off from the capabilities that other mutants had with some of their abilities. It further begged the question as to what exactly it meant to be 'Omega'. Something to do with putting his mind to his abilities? Something? God, he wished he cared more about talking shop.

He'd already sized up his team. Scott, Teon, and Kay were pros, basically. They'd already been out on ONE WHOLE MISSION... but the amount of antagonism, weaponry, and surprises they faced that day and managed to come home with a mission accomplished... Bobby felt that he couldn't possibly be with three better people to run objectives with on the field. The FIELD, man! What da FUCK! His brain shouted in an elated burst. He only chimed in as prompted as they held their current vantage point outside of the factory.

“Iceman...” He let it roll out as smoothly and 'cool' as possible because he was living the dream. “...bitches.” He gave a wide grin and a wink. He was ready to roll.

*BOOM!*

The combination of Bobby having already been crouched before the teleport while ambiently rolling his foot on its side in anxious anticipation and the unexpectedness of what it was like to teleport... sent Bobby into a silent drop to his hands like a sinking rock. He mentally swore a mouthful of expletives as he just as silently recomposed himself and found that he was far less 'cool' than the other three already. Which was kinda disappointing.

He looked between Cyclops and Instinct who were sussing out their end of the facility and decided to contribute in whichever way he could. How many people... Got it...

He turned his body back and braced himself against the wall just a few feet behind the group and rested his hand on a large, darkly-painted steel pipe that ran all the way up to the ceiling and probably beyond. This would do nicely. A needle-thin trail of translucent ice ran up the length of the pipe, far above their vantage point and over any lighting that would have reflected against it causing any unneeded reflections or tell-tale light-beams. At the top, the ice branched out and spread like a square cookie sheet. The angled surface was smooth and glassy enough to mirror the image of the scene angled to where they could see from where they stood.

Bobby tapped lightly on the pipe to catch the attention of his group and silently buoyed a pointed finger upwards towards the ice mirror. “Looks like at least 15 hostages.” He stated simply. He didn't have the time to be impressed or make particular note of the energy tentacles that seemed to be all too far in the distance. What he saw more clearly, though... “-But we should probably be more worried about those cops.” The 6 officers were at a far closer position than the mutant. “Whatever we gotta do- we gotta do it fast.”
