System Data Logs Altha Star System Third Rate Description: The Altha system contains 5 planets and 2 asteroid belts. The first planet (Antalla) is too near to Altha 23940 to be habitable, though with some effort, mining operations could be established. It is roughly one quarter the size of earth. The second planet (Beatha) is much more hospitable, albeit the lack of atmosphere. Xenogeologists have concluded that Beatha could have supported life at one point, though a catastrophic event caused the planet’s atmosphere to dissipate. Beatha is roughly three quarters the size of earth. It is theorized that Beatha once had a moon, evidence of which was gathered from the debris orbiting the planet. The third planet (Cara) is about twice the size of Earth, habitable and holds the majority of the system’s inhabitants. Cara’s main industries before the war included mining, agriculture, with some manufacturing and a small shipyard mainly focussed with building freighters and in-sys haulers for the Altha Mining Concern (See system history). Cara has four moons, two of which featured mining outposts before the war. Diana is the fourth planet from Altha, and is much smaller than Cara at half the size of earth and although habitable, hasn’t seen much colonization other than the odd farmstead, and the establishment of the Altha Mining Concern’s Xeno-Biological Institute which investigates biological applications of Altha’s indigenous species, mostly for agricultural purposes. Diana has two small moons. Finally, Ellista sits on the edge of the system, beyond the Inner Belt. As a massive gas giant, it plays a role in the system’s gravitational environment, though the system has shown to be stable through thousands of hours of computer testing prior to colonization. Ellista has a complex system of moons, most of which are covered in either frozen water or frozen gas given their distance from Altha. The moons which are closer to Ellista feature chaotic tectonic activity, caused by the planet’s gravitational pull on the moons. Beyond Ellista at the distant edge of the system lays the Outer Belt, which while much looser than the Inner Belt, still contains a myriad of resources for the entrepreneurs who risk their time and money to exploit them. History: Altha 23940 was theorized to be a habitable system by the late twenty-first century. By the time the first probes arrived in the early twenty-second century, these hopes were confirmed and the Altha Mining Concern (AMC) was established to give structure to the scramble that was going on for the systems as man spread their wings and reached out for the stars. The AMC established their headquarters on Cara, and aggressively expanded their operations with an influx of colonists from Sol which they managed to attract from the grossly overpopulated Low Countries as the sea level rose due to global warming. The AMC board quickly managed to get the system to a state of self-sufficiency, and managed to net a profit after four decades of operations. Their main exports at the time were still raw materials, mostly ores and gas, but they quickly found new lucrative contracts supplying the rising Syndicate with steel for their growing fleets. The seemingly never ending appetite for raw materials kept the system aloft, and allowed the AMC to expand its operations in order to feed the Syndicate’s scramble to build an ever larger fleet. When the war rolled around, business was especially good. The shipyards on Cara couldn’t keep up with the demand for either freighters, or warships as the Syndicate pressed them into their service to feed the war machine. When hostile fleets finally arrived to the Altha system, they were merciless. Orbital bombardments left the once great cities of the AMC in ruins, and tens of millions of people died at their hands. Much of the industry ground to a halt and the cratered landscape in the Northern hemisphere of Cara is still a haunting reminder of the war, and a good source of resentment, fuel for the fires of revenge that burns in the hearts of Altha’s people. What was left of the Altha Mining Concern picked up the pieces, and is now committed to getting the system back to its former glory, and to build it into greatness beyond what the original founders believed possible. The Alliance occupied the planet for a period of 5 years until a Syndicate counter attack finally liberated the planet. Only a partially intact space station remains in orbit however due to the continuation of the war no engineers have been able to risk the journey to see if the facility could be repaired. History: When Flumina Terra was first explored and colonized the settlers found that it was a Paradise with many natural rivers running thought the huge continents. The Rivers contained an abundance of gold an fish which helped the system produce and procure the materials to turn it into a regional powerhouse. About 1000 years after the settling of the planet the Syndicate Worlds waged war on the Star system of Flumina Terra which ended with the star system becoming a member of the Syndicate Worlds. It wasn't until 15 years ago that the Star system left the Syndicated worlds and that was short lived as five years after the alliance took the planet the Syndicate Worlds expelled the invaders. Since then the Star System has been attempting to work hard for the war effort in order to please the ever present ISS personnel in order to "redeem" themselves for not defeating the Alliance themselves. Current System Leaders: CEO Thomas Wier (System CEO) Sub-CEO: Patricia Watts (Executive System Commander) Amanda Clayton (Ground Forces Commander) Alex Jackson (Mobile Forces Commander) CEO Benedikt Popov (ISS Commander) ++++++++++++++++ Aldegar Star System Third Rate Description: A large and relatively rich system, Aldegar contains a total of 8 planets and two asteroid belts. The first and smallest planet orbits a Red Dwarf, followed by three terrestrial planets: Adelia, Aldegar, and Aldegar Prime. Aldegar Prime is the center of the star system, and the only continuously and consistently inhabited planet. Aldegar is located within the Goldilocks zone and has sustained limited settlements in the past - while technically inhabitable, its lack of an atmosphere has made it an unattractive target for settlement. The system consists of two additional rock planets, a primary asteroid belt, two gas giants, a secondary asteroid belt, and an eighth large rock planet. History: Nestled comfortably on the former frontier of the Syndicate Worlds, Aldegar prospered as a way point for colonizers and exploring enterprises. Aldegar's early owners sought to develop business relationships with potential frontiersman, pioneering a system of equipment and support in return for future resource rights. The arrangements allowed the system to prosper under the disciplined fiscal stewardship of the owning Kelso family, who became known for their shrewd business dealings and the relatively liberal nature of the system they oversaw. During the war the system grew significantly as an industrial center reprocessing resources obtained from the frontier. Using its previous connections with frontier colonies, Aldegar was able to provide substantial quantities of reprocessed materials for ship construction and continued to serve as a hub for the distribution of raw materials from its corner of Syndicate space. Lacking major shipbuilding infrastructure or strategic significance from the Allied perspective, Aldegar was spared from early destruction and pivoted towards re-balancing its relationship with Prime. Upon the destruction of main Syndicate fleets, Aldegar was briefly targeted by Allied bombardment to remove its substantial industrial capacity, forcing the system to scale down and eventually end its reprocessing operations, crippling sector efforts to continue shipbuilding production. Traditional trade networks collapsed with Allied occupation and patrols, causing deep recession that was compounded by a flood of refugees from largely destroyed systems as a result of the war. The system's crisis further deepened after Allied soldiers accidentally killed Chief Executive Officer and patriarch of the Kelso family, Tyron Kelso, in a mid-air collision while approaching the main planet's capital. Since the end of the war the system has focused on reconstructing its infrastructure and integrating substantial amounts of refugees who have sought shelter in the former frontier colony under the leadership of son and heir, Garret Kelso.
