Besides retaining multiple audio tracks (especially HD audios - Dolby TrueHD 7.1/5.1, DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1/5.1, Dolby Digital 5.1) and multiple subtitles in an MKV video without transcoding and quality loss, Pavtube ByteCopy is also able to encode the original soundtracks into DTS 5.1 channels, AC3 5.1 channels, AAC 6 channels, PCM 6 channels, etc.with your wanted languages. It preserves chapter markers in the converted MKV file. All that and more make it possible for you to easily select your needed tracks, subtitles, as well as chapters when watching Blu-ray and DVD movies with your media players. More features: Support lossless multi-track output in MKV Support encoded multi-track output in MKV, MP4 and MOV Support all output formats that Blu-ray/DVD Ripper supports for playing movies on any tablets or smartphones Allow full preservation of all audio tracks, subtitles and chapter markers Direct copy main titles from BD and DVD siscs Support adding *.srt and *.ass/*.ssa subtitle in your video Full disc copy BD-50 to BD-50, BD-25 to BD-25 in 1:1 ratio without any loss Support TrueHD 6.1 and TrueHD 7.1 decoding Added editing options like merge, split, trim, crop, volume adjusting, etc. Support latest BD and DVD discs Kindly Note: Currently you can't edit videos by merging, splitting, trimming, cropping, adding .srt, .ass subtitle files, etc if choosing multi-track output formats. FAQs: Rip/Backup BD/DVD preserving all audio tracks, subtitles and chapter markers Q1: Is there a better way to backup Blu-ray movies? I know the way is burn Blu-ray Disc to a blank BD-R 25GB/50GB and I want to know is there other ways to backup bluray movies? A: Of course, you could backup a Blu-ray to BDMV, ISO, or MKV, then use Blu-ray authoring app to create your self-made Blu-ray Disc, which is not really exactly the same with original Blu-ray Disc. If this is your preferable way I would recommend Pavtube ByteCopy to you, as it sorts out and merge the main movie into one MKV file- in BDMV you have multiple .m2ts clips and they are not put in order. Q2: How to get Windows Media Center play MKV movie ripped from Blu-ray Disc? I want to lossless backup my bluray movies to mkv and i wonder if Windows Media Center can play it? A: I'm afraid it can't because Windows Media Center does not natively recognize .mkv as source media, you should install a MKV codec pack like Shark007 first, then you are able to play HD MKV files ripped from BD Disc in Windows Media Center. Q3: What is the best DVD backup software to make a 1:1 exact 100% copy? I am looking for a DVD copy/ripper that makes a 1:1 clone - a 100% exact copy, with No Compression, and true Lossless video quality. Could someone please suggest the best software out there? I plan to save sections of movies (like the best action scenes) onto my hard drive (I have a lot of storage, so space is not a problem). A: Actually I know something may help you get exactly what you expect. I would recommend Pavtube Bytecopy, this program is recently updated, preserving some awesome functions like 1:1 copy of original DVD and lossless video and audio backup with multiple subtitles and audio streams preservation, meanwhile ByteCopy adds several new features including 100% intact DVD VOB main movie copy. Q4: What is the most efficient format to convert my DVD/Blu-Ray collection into? I have been doing direct copy from DVD to HDD in the .vob format, but "The Matrix" is 20GB by itself. What is the best format to use to obtain high quality with significantly less file size? A: My suggestion is to save original BD/DVD disc into their original .m2ts/.vob format so the video quality is uncompressed and you would get lossless video quality. About save movie size, you could try to Directly Copy Main Movie of original BD/DVD disc and leave out extracts, it would save lots of file size. Q5: What is the best format for backup blu-ray movie? I want to make digital copy of my blu-ray movie, please recommend me a proper video format? Since i am not quite familiar with MKV, MOV, AVI, MP4, WMV, etc., thanks. A: I prefer MKV because this video format can preserve, chapter markers, multipler audio and subtitles streams from original Blu-ray disc; plus, MKV supports backing up Blu-ray disc with lossless video quality and you would enjoy exactly same video quality on computer or HD media player. Backup Blu-ray to MKV with multi-track for HD Media Players and HTPCs Q6: What settings should I use for Blu-ray converting? I want to convert a Blu-ray to MKV or similar. I have seen full length high quality movies at around 280-300mb in the MKV format. I have been playing around with the settings in certain video converter but I am having trouble achieving the same video quality. If you have done this, could you please tell me what setting you used? Thank you. A: I basically choose to lossless backup my BD/DVD collection to get same video quality in original disc, in that way, the movie content would not be re-convert so video would not be compressed. Q7: What are the best lossless codecs to use? I have been searching for the best possible solution. Assuming a backup rip from a brand new 3D blu-ray movie, using lossless codecs would mean that the most important questions at hand would be: Which lossless codec is widely used and compatible. A: Since the original Blu-ray movie in in .m2ts format and the best way to get 1:1 copy of original BD movie is to copy the entire disc into .m2ts format, but in this way you would also get exactly same file size as original one; but I prefer backup BD/DVD disc to MKV format using ByteCopy because it not only copies movie to mkv without quality loss, the conversion process is within 20 minutes, very efficient. Q8: How do I burn a DVD file to an ISO so that I do not have to keep wasting my discs? Q: I am wondering if there is a way for me to make movie free out of physical DVD disc and stop wasting my discs. Is there a way to view what the final product will look like by using an ISO or a virtual drive? A: Of course, you could refer to http://www.pavtube.com/guide/imgburn-create-dvd-iso-from-video-ts-directory.html to get DVD copied into ISO image. But there is another way to make your DVD movie free from disc, just lossless backup DVD to MKV with multiple audio and subtitle streams so you can play DVD movie on computer hard drive or on HD media player since MKV is supported by most HD media players like Popcorn and WDTV. Q9: How to make VLC media player play Blu-rays? Is there an alternate way to play Blu-ray movies with either vlc. I heard there is an advantage of playing blu-rays but i don't know what. A: As I know, VLC media player does not support Blu-ray Disc as source media, in other words, you cannot play blu-ray movie using VLC. But there is a way to make it work, you need rip Blu-ray disc to VLC friendly format such as .mkv. Meanwhile, since VLC media player supports chapter info, you'd better rip your Blu-ray disc to MKV with chapter marker saved so that you can easily skip to any chapter you wanna start watching. Q10: How to Play a Blu Ray on a Computer? Blu-Ray offers unparalleled visual quality for movies but you need a special optical drive to read any Blu-Ray disc. I also have a Blu-Ray drive already, standard video players like Media Player 12. But it doesn't seem to support playing Blu-Ray discs. I really need to get a good idea about it. A: Windows Media Player does not support directly playing Blu-ray Disc movie, you should backup movie to Windows Media Player supported format such as .avi for playback. But ripping Blu-ray disc to .avi format would transcode BD and compress video quality, in other word you would not get same video quality in original BD. While if you lossless back up your BD movie to MKV, then install a free codec pack called Shark007, your Windows Media Player can still play the MKV files.
