What? Out of the goodness of my heart I've decided to compile a list with definitions of commonly used Role Playing phrases or abbreviations. If I've missed anything, be sure to comment below and I will update it accordingly. IG and IC
Just to clear the air and avoid any further confusion there is no difference between IG and IC. The two abbreviations actually have the same meaning. IG basically means that are currently role playing, or are within a role playing area. I.E. An "IC" Room. OOC Out Of Charater is rather the opposite of IC, meaning you are currently not role playing, or not in a role playing room. I.E An "OOC" Room. All of New York Mafia RolePlay is considered IG. Should you want to speak OOC whisper or console that person, rather than disturbing the roleplaying in the room. God-Modding The term God-Modding refers to a role player that has god like capabilities, doing things un-natural. Such as closing doors from across the room. Power Gaming When someone is classed as Power Gaming it would imply they are immune to pain and do not role play pain. Someone who can be in a ten minute fight and not get tired, would be considered as power gaming. So you should ensure to RP any pain you receive during a fight. Meta Gaming Meta Gaming is commonly used to describe someone who found out information OOC and used it IC. For example, if you can SEE someone standing behind you, you don't actually know they're behind you state otherwise IC, by turning and looking at the person. |
