Ranks Ranks vary immensely based on your chosen faction in the world. Shinobi come in the form of five separate ranks that are entirely based on your In-Character actions, preferences and so forth. Ranks are known as the following: • Genin is a ninja apprentice, a starting ninja. Genin usually get D-rank missions, and sometimes C-rank if they are in a team with a Chuunin or Jounin rank ninja. So, if you want to get higher ranked missions, team up with a higher rank ninja. After a few missions, it's normal for Genins to try and rank-up to Chuunin. This is done through the Chuunin Exams, a plot-wide event that happens every few weeks (depends on how many experienced genins there are). • Chuunin are a bit higher-up ninja, who are usually assigned to go on C-rank, combat missions, and sometimes even B-rank, if experienced enough, or paired up with another Chuunin. But, in order to rank up to Jounin, there aren't any special exams. But, a Chuunin can also choose to rank-up to a Special Jounin. This is done in the same way, the ninja still has to go through an interview, but the requirements are a bit smaller. • Special Jounin are ninja that are higher-up than Chuunin, and usually the rank in-between a Chunin and a Jounin. They are essentially highly-socialized Chunin that simply are Jounin level in a singular area but are not that level for anything else. Once a character becomes a Special Jounin, he cannot become a normal Jounin anymore (this is used to prevent people from abusing the step in-between to gain rank-bonuses two times instead of 1). • Jounin are the elite ninja type, they usually lead 3 ninja Genin teams, but they also tend to go on solo A-rank missions. They are very well-rounded and have a high skill level as a whole. • Kage is a leader of his/her village. Only the most respected, loyal, and experienced ninja are chosen to be Kages. So, how do you become one? You can't choose to become one, you are chosen by the staff. Every time a Kage resigns, a topic in the Staff forum will be opened and moderators and administrators will present ideas for the new Kage, and we'll vote it out. We'll be looking for your activity, RP experience, and most importantly, your character. You can only become a Kage if you're already a Jounin, unless your village is combat primary in which case anyone can challenge the kage at any time no matter their rank - even a civilian. Each village has their own way of obtaining this rank - but is summed up as "Politically" or "By Combat" the first is through waiting, obtaining renoun, rank, and earning such in threads. The second is fighting the current Kage one-on-one, and only certain villages allow it - the winner (doesn't have to kill, but it often happens) the previous kage and gains the title for themselves- if the term "Rarely" is existent they can turn your challenge down, but if its accepted it still counts. "Secondary" means turning it down makes you look bad to the village, but you are allowed to do it- if you accept it still counts however. - Mist: By Combat Primary, Politically Secondary - Leaf: Politically Only - Cloud: Politically Primary, By Combat Secondary - Sand: Politically Primary, By Combat Rarely - Rock: Politically Only This is the table of requirements for each rank-up:

Missions Missioning is a ninja's main occupation. In IC terms, missions arrive to the village office every day, ready to be handed out to ninja's and ninja teams. OOCly speaking, moderators and the Kages are responsible for this part. If you want to do a mission, please apply for one here, using he template given. Either the Kage of your village, or the admin is going to hand out an assignment scroll, which contains all the information on what you need to do. After that, the admin will open up a thread for you, and be the plotter for whats going to happen. All you/your team need to do is follow the plotter and be a ninja. There is a couple of things we'd like you to keep in mind before you even take the mission:
If you complete a mission, each of the ninja that were hired get an award based on that added atop the normal rewards for a thread being done and finished. D-rank mission - +500 両 (ryo), 3 village renown - min. 1,600 Words Total C-rank mission - +1,000 両 (ryo), 5 village renown - min. 2,100 Words Total B-rank mission - +2,000 両 (ryo), 10 village renown - min. 5,100 Words Total A-rank mission - +4,000 両 (ryo), 15 village renown - min. 7,300 Words Total S-rank mission - +5,000 両 (ryo), 30 village renown - min. 14,100 Words Total All Missions have a 100 Word Count per Post Minimum, regardless of their Rank, for both Staff narrating the Mission, and the characters roleplaying in the mission itself. Renown, what's that? Well, read on... Renown All of the 5 villages that we currently have are in someway different than the others. Top level ninja are chosen to be the leaders of them, known as Kage. Now, Kages have a full power on controlling the villages, and are fully responsible for its economy and renown. For example, Kages can control what their ninja will do for missions, and can even start wars that way. However, an admin can always root it out, if the reason is not good enough or if there's non-roleplaying involved. When Kages are unavailable, or not yet chosen, the admin will hand out universal missions that have no effect on the villages relations, but still gets the village renown. Every time someone completes a mission, the mission mod writes the renown in the Village Information thread, where is also a table of the villages relations. The Kage doesn't have a direct influence on the economy, but has a direct influence to his villages safety. Village Organizations can be formed by the village ninja, and the Kage can, via the Upgrades forum, send Renown points to the Organization, whos leader can then transform the Renown to Ryo, and then hand it out to his members, who can then use the money to improve themselves as ninja. So, the leaders of the factions have a free will, to try and trick the Kage and keep the money, even the members can use the given money to improve individualy and then turn their backs on their village, become spies, etc. This unique system provides a realistic and interesting plot to be created by the members themselves.
