WE'RE ALL A BUNCH OF ANIMALS SPECIES: Horse
OVERALL APPEARANCE: A mustang to be specific, rangy and sturdy in build he stands about 15hh and is a very plain dun stallion.
DISTINGUISHING TRAITS: He’s just a dun, handsome, rich golden in color as to the pale buttermilk of some.

APPEARANCE

PAINT US A PICTURE
HAIR: It ranges from a dirty, dishwater blonde to a soft honey brown depending on how much sun he gets.
EYES: Muted, mottled turquoise.
BUILD: Rowen is not a giant, a rather run of the mill specimen he is of average height and weight. He has broad shoulders and long legs.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Rowen has high, clear cheekbones with an obvious Nordic quality to them. His family immigrated from Denmark, and he is clearly Danish with his prominent, wide cheek bones and well built jaw, eyes that are somewhat close together and sunken in. His brow is broad and chin clefted, making him very masculine in appearance, but all of these traits when thrown together are rather handsome and give him an almost contemplative, classical look.
OVERALL APPEARANCE: He stands around an even 5’11, a rather unassuming man with naturally dark blonde hair that washes to brown in the winter months when he is out of the sun. His skin is not pale, despite his lineage but rather tan in fact, showing a life spent outdoors and a love for the sun.
He is completely overlookable at times, and at others he is absolutely stunning.
TYPICAL DRESS: Jeans and t-shirts, shorts, tennis shoes.

PERSONALITY
---
WHO ARE YOU?
Rowen can be bland at times. A dutiful man, a good husband, a brilliant father. He is a little boring but totally reliable to do what needs to be done and to help those around him. He is a hard-working man, often times putting in more effort than those around him and going unappreciated for the things that he does for work.
He is very quiet, and to the observer a fairly simple man – though his wife will tell anyone who will listen very differently.
Through her words, he is a deeply loving man with a ferocious loyalty to those that he loves and cares for the most in his world. He will fight to do whatever is necessary to make things work and to make those around him happy, often times ignoring his own needs but thriving through the care he gives to other. He often times needs to be reminded to care for and think about himself, though it seems like one of the few things on his list that he will not actually attend to.
His quiet nature and that loyalty, as well as a soft-spoken intelligence lead people around him to keep secrets in him – sometimes even if he’s only just met him. He is an all around likeable character, who people love to talk about and esteem to their friends, and really enjoy asking for advice and confiding secrets in but they often times forget to talk to him, more often than not due to the fact that he does not talk about himself.
His wife and his two children are his pride and joy, and he openly dotes upon them, gloating about them and praising them when asked of them but he does not disclose much personal information at these points.
He tends to be a silent worker, a quiet shoulder to lean on, and a sounding board – similar to the quintessential lone ranger’s dedicated, trusty steed in the old Geis-less movies.
Underneath everything – all of his silence, his dependability, his tame nature he is really a rather frightened man. He does not like to buck or kick, throw his feet in any way to upset the perfect balance that his life seems to have despite the fact he feels someone else saddled him for it. He sees that he has a good life; with a beautiful wife and children that he adores, a job that brings home enough money to keep everyone happy with a low amount of stress compared to the things he sees friends going through. There is food on the table, a roof over his head and laughter and love in his home. He would never do anything to jeopardize these things, fearing their loss and what his life may be like without them. He is slightly resistant to change, throwing in his heels and setting his teeth against it he has to be forced to accept it, and to relinquish freedoms that he enjoys.
He loves his children more than he could have ever expected that he would, and they love him. They unearth another side of him entirely, bringing the quiet, dutiful man to life. He can get rather passionate either in helping them with schoolwork or any of their chosen pursuits, arguing with them and roughhousing with them. He is a stellar parent, and while there are fights within the household between he and his children seeing as he is the primary disciplinarian they love him and he loves them.
An attentive, loving husband he’s good with the dates that matter (birthdates, anniversaries etc)and has an incredibly forgiving, understanding wife who lets go his tendency to overwork and show up late to the dates they have every few weeks – understanding and loving his dedication to his family. They bicker very little, and the household is mostly harmonious.
- STRENGTHS: Dependable, complacent and dutiful he is not the sort of person to throw unexpected surprises into life. He can be the most important friend someone will have, in that he will do anything to help a friend out including sacrificing his own well-being or happiness most of the time. He is frugal, and relatively good with money despite his mostly humble bearings and it stems from a desire for comfort and security for not only himself but those he loves. He is an excellent secret-keeper when the duty is laid upon him, though for the most part he is relatively poorly-versed in the world of telling lies. He prefers to be honest, if only for the fact he is frightened of being caught in a lie.
- WEAKNESSES: He is resistant to change, often times violently so. He has something of a self-destructive nature to him, though at this point in his life he is surrounded by those who keep him from going to those ends. He is a little too quiet sometimes, choosing not to say something when he really should, even though he likes to think he is an honest man when it matters. He is scared of most everything around him; change, anything alluring and exciting, the destructive nature he’s displayed in the past keeps him from venturing out of the comfortable nest he’s made for himself and his family.
- LIKES: Rowen likes to read in his downtime, though between all the hours that he works, being a husband and contending with two adolescent children he doesn’t find much downtime. He enjoys running as well, but again, it’s one of those things he doesn’t find much time to do. He also likes hot days, green lawns, sprinklers and his kids, making his wife smile, roughhousing with his kids, watching movies, working. He likes the nights his paperwork doesn’t keep him too late, and the seasons that he doesn’t have to worry about workers getting hurt, causing problems, or earning themselves a termination. History books, discussing history, the history channel, anything to do with history really. Really. He turns into a giant FREAK when given the chance to start talking about history.
- DISLIKES: Most meat products – though he does have the occasional binge where he’ll eat everything meaty he can get his hands on no matter how much his wife teases him, calm winters (mostly for the sake of work), haircuts or being instructed to get them (he often is, by his wife of course), loud obnoxious music, tiny cars and stupid drivers, tight spaces (he’s pretty much claustrophobic), jelly, and mosquitoes.

HISTORY
---
HOW DID YOU GET HERE?
Rowen was born in Saxis, the son of a carcal butcher and an impala wedding planner, he was the eldest of two brothers and they learned to live on relatively meager means. He was raised to work, and when he was five shifted for the first time into a gangly legged mustang horse to a great deal of celebration in the home. His brother Hugo was born when Rowen was seven, and then Marcus was born when he was ten, creating quite an age gap between himself and the two youngest siblings.
He did very well early in school and developed a keen interest in history, expressing great interest in becoming a historian when he grew up. He made a great deal of friends, his grades were always a great source of pride for his parents and in middle school he took up track which he excelled in. When he started high school, things got a little rougher – the growth spurt finally caught him and Rowen turned wild, reckless and rebellious in his youth. He was an adventurous young youth, a wild adolescent boy who wanted to experience everything and did so regardless of his parent’s better wishes for him. He bucked against all of their attempts to control him; purposefully disobeying in some instances, sneaking out after curfew, attending parties they said he could not attend, spending time with trouble makers and hooligans they would have preferred to not see their son with.
His grades slipped everywhere, even in history, as if his focus on living life was more important than on his schooling, and his focus switched from his track to other areas – more artistic pursuits which set off his father’s temper and created an even larger rift between the two men. His mother pleaded with him, and provided him with more chances than he deserved for redemption and each time he destroyed all the trust she attempted to put in him. He was in trouble quite often in school, skipping out on classes to drink behind the gymnasium, he was caught smoking on school grounds and then kicked off of campus for swearing at an instructor who attempted to force him to put the cigarette out. As a territorial, wild young man he got into quite a few fights though there were only two that he was connected to and caught for; each time being suspended and threatened the second time with being removed from the school altogether.
In his senior year, Rowen had every intention of leaving Saxis, dropping out of school and spiriting off to anywhere but his hometown. He saved money he earned through several summer jobs which he ended up losing for reasons always related to his behavior but only through his mother’s desperate, wild pleadings did he remain for the last few months of school. After graduation, again his mother attempted to set him up for better things than a transient life as a drunken artist and tried to coerce him into enrolling into college.
He was seventeen at the time, and adamantly against the idea of enrolling. He was preparing to set out to do what he wanted to do, despite how catastrophic it all may have been – traveling with a young band doomed to failure by their own destructive habits, each member at least seven years older than him and probably out to use him just as a source for cash. He met a young woman at the time, one of many, named Opal who he carried on a relationship with throughout this difficult period of his life but intended to leave as soon as his train to greater places did.
Thankfully (depending on your outlook regarding the situation), things did not work out for Rowen and all of these stupid things he wanted. Before that band could take off his youngest brother Marcus was hit by a car, and it took all of the wind out of Rowen’s sails. Opal moved on without him, traveling to Los Angeles with the doomed band, and Rowen was suddenly left in a house that was filled with anger and grief not because of him, but because of the loss of the youngest child in the family to something so stupid and horrific as a sports car and an irresponsible driver.
The shock of it hit Rowen hard. While he wasn’t as close to Marcus as Hugo was, the loss seemed to bring him back to earth, as well as seeing the agony it caused his mother and father – whom were now suddenly very real to him, instead of characters in the backdrop of his world.
He was stagnant for a few months, as was the rest of the family and in a blind need for comfort Rowen sought out a high school girlfriend – one of the better girls he had dated, and who seemed to like him despite the fact he was a complete dick. During this period of idleness in all of their lives, his father had a stroke brought on by stress according to doctors and after lingering for several weeks passed away.
After suddenly realizing what he had done to his family, and coming to realize he needed them the loss of his father so soon thrust so much weight upon him that it nearly tore him down.
Aria – a beautiful girl with a singing voice, and an egret Geis – was Rowen’s saving grace. She was the support system he needed at the time, and she was able to sit him down and be honest with him and tell him exactly where he had gone wrong, and where the fault lay and where it did not. She relieved him of the guilt he carried for his father’s death and he was able to reconnect with his mother and his brother Hugo, which was very important for all three of them during this time.
Just to throw Rowen further off course, there was another major event that changed his life. When he was twenty, and Aria 18 she revealed to him in tears on her birthday that she was pregnant.
By this time in his life, Rowen was a very different person. Tamed, quiet, with a deep dependent love for Aria all he could think to do was what he had to do. He loved her, and so he would take care of her, and despite the wild, almost irrational fear that took him in the sudden face of this struggle he stepped up to the plate and accepted the challenge.
His mother was instrumental in keeping him from destroying everything and abandoning Aria in his fear. There were several times he was brought to the point of a breakdown in the face of it, but each time she helped him through it and by the time Aria had their first child – a baby boy named Neil – Rowen was fully prepared for what lay ahead of him in his life, and he was able to support Aria and take care of their little family.
The first few years were hard for Aria. Coming from a successful family, her parents were furious with her for starting her life so early, and for the source of all of the difficulty lying in a young man like Rowen. They swore her off, and she was left with no one but Rowen, and his mother and Hugo who took her in and treated her like true family. Rowen schooled her through her fear, helped her cope with the depression she struggled with in the face of losing her family, and the future she had been dreaming of as a singer. He worked two jobs to support himself and his family, delivering mail during the day and working at a gas station in the evenings. He performed a lot of work on the side as well, finding odds and ends with his mothers help.
Aria and Rowen married when Neil was three, and a year later they had another baby. A girl this time, named Cadence and for a short amount of time, Rowen held three jobs before he finally caught a break when he was twenty six and found a position with a lawncare company started by a high school friend.
While he was forced to keep a second job, it did give him more time to rest and spend with Aria and the children, and eventually his friend passed the company on to him; leaving Rowen as the manager of the lawncare company when he was thirty, and providing him with a job he could finally work that allowed Aria to return to school and pursue a degree in healthcare.
Rowen spent a lot of time with the children during this period, working during the days and spending the nights with Neil and Cadence while Aria attended school in the evenings. It gave him time to really bond with the children he had always really cared for, but never had time to spend with and he found that he loved being a father. With everything in his soul, his children changed him into something he never thought he could be – he cried over cartoon movies, he let his children crawl all over him, beat and bang on him, draw on him, the floor and the walls, he covered for them when Aria would return home and discover the mess. He discovered he was a bit of a pushover, but found he didn’t mind as long as they were making good choices, and found himself planning far into their futures for them; saving for college, cars, telling them they were going to change the world and crashing RC cars with Neil, allowing Cadence to put him in tiaras and tell him he needed to wear Aria’s eye-shadow, or add maple syrup to his coffee.
Aria completed her schooling just after Rowen turned thirty-five, taking up a position with a nearby hospital in Saxis as a physical therapist and bringing home more money to the family than they both would have dreamed they would have between them a year. The sudden influx in money and comfort did not encourage Rowen to live frivolously, despite the fact he had never really had anything. Quite the opposite, Rowen took to managing the money rather well, not only for himself and Aria and whatever need would arise in the future, but for Neil and Cadence.
In the following year, Aria did her best to make up for all of the time Rowen spent working for others instead of himself – despite his protests against it. She bought him a new car, finally giving him the jeep he always wanted so he would no longer have to drive the mini-van with cheerios in the seats to work, she encouraged him to take time off and treated him to several trips to the mountains while the kids stayed with their Grandmother and when Aria’s parents finally attempted re-establishing a connection with her Rowen stepped up in her defense to passionately level them for her.
Aria spent months attempting to make Rowen feel like the husband she felt he was, giving him the things that he deserved and while he protested against all of these things he was convinced of their love again, and a flame that had been dying for some time was ignited again so their marriage was no longer simply a marriage, but a relationship filled with deep, content love.
It has only been in the last year that Aria has begun to suggest to Rowen that he pursue something he wants to do. That he do something with his life that he has always wanted to do, offering to support him through school, assuring him he does not have to work while he’s attending – though Rowen may be too attached to work to take her up on that offer.
He’s hesitantly enrolled in college, hoping to pursue that idea he had in middle school, and become a historian.
